Greying thanks for that link - it was on BBC Scotland a few weeks back - I've seen all bar the last one which was on while we were actually IN the Hebrides, and the Sky box decided not to record it for some reason! It's a gorgeous series and well worth watching for anyone who just likes nice scenery and wildlife!
Happy new puppy LT!
Pippi looking forward to hearing what the dress is like - be an absolute bargain if it turns out to be "the one!" :T Glad DD's work experience went well too!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Hail Pippi and Stripey Gang :hello:
Not a good day at Greying Towers
DP has been cycling to work as a 'money saving' (on diesel expenditure) exercise :money:.
DP dropped an important set of keys - which seem to have vanished into thin air in 20 minutes between being dropped and being searched for and have not yet found their way to a police station.
£250 on new locks later.....................
Greying ponders what the TV chefs (ref upcoming BBC prog) would cut out of an already tight £1.30(pp) a day food budget in order to try to rebuild a shattered emergency fund, whilst DP ponders whether scatter cushions could enhance the distinctly chilly ambience of the dog house*...................................

Oh dear greying not a good day at your towers at all. Better safe than sorry.
Occasional throws enhAnce a decent dog house :~{ hope you get inspiration for an even more reduced grub budget :-(
So achey from trips to tip and painting.....
Twiglets off on hairy plane today so budgets will be tight for ) weeks whilst they are off at dads.
Thanks for the link greying and the reminders about the island programme it was ace!
Dress, well it's beautiful (empire cut, tea dance length, very simple) and I spent a good couple hours gently undoing the most hideous decorative button line from the neckline which has just transformed it. :-) for The £20 we got a wee matching jacket too
We've finalised a rough invite list (100) and a £3k budget. I know it will be exciting seeing if we can make it work. Seems a lot of money to me but hoping we can manage to DIY most of it, or like many if you ask chums to help with specific tasks :-) I've scribbled down a good few ideas from you guys and seeing what's viable. Really interesting hearing a d thinking about it all.
Scary biscuits !
DS fits his uncles kilt so that's a £50+ saving on a hire (yay)

puppy stork arrived last night, Poppy is settling in well, cost us a fortune at the vets and has been checked and deemed to be very healthy and 'not small' for a westie
Aw so cute, a westie called Poppy - Peedie and Haggis are very excited!Wik's dog is called Poppy too (jack russel) I hope you're all settling in

Hope you are not wearing yourself out Pippi, buffing, polishing and staging Mr Flowers' flat for presentation. Hope you are taking the opportunity to have some rest and relaxation time too.
Greying
I'm sneaking off for a bit on here and having a relax. Its been pretty full on I must say. I'm now very familiar with both the tip and the diy storesEssexHebridean wrote: »Some lovely ideas and stories here - just fabulous to read!
................. Of course, if you don't want any kind of formal shots then that's great, and it might well be that you have a cheery photographically minded chum who will offer to do you a photobook full of candid informal shots as a wedding pressie....
If it were me I'd go for the hire on the linen as well - the other option I guess is to get together an absolute mass of table cloths & napkins that you will never use again but still have to launder before sending to the charity shop, and honestly, the day after you get hitched, will you REALLY be wanting to spend several hours feeding tablecloths with all manner of stuff spilt on them through your washing machine?
We didn't do a formal seating arrangement for our sit-down meal - left the food as a buffet arrangement and apart from a traditional top table we let people sit wherever, which worked really well. The only reason for doing this was that neither of us could be bothered to sit and do any sort of seating plan! :rotfl:
Lots of great ideas on there - love the idea of a photo book :A nothing formal happening with us!
Napkins, I'm still pondering, if the paper ones are actually composted then there's not much in it when used in high turnover establishments. If binned they'll end up in landfill (not cool).
I had wondered about hiring just linen and using multi-coloured napkins in lots of 8 as a rainbow kind of effect (poised and elegant moi - uermmm no) then I could re-use/rehome the napkins after the event....or making them from recycled materials...........
Washing napkins on the day after wedding, um, well, as I'm presenting two one hour workshops at a national recycling conference two days after we get hitched in Stirling, I think perhaps it might be a nice distraction.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Honeymoon in the alps at xmas - so we're back to business asap after the wedding - no rest for the wicked. But I do take on board what you're saying
