Thanks Chev! You're a star will check next week. :A:hello: Hi Chev! The universe knows where its at, doesn't it :j
Pippi, have a great time island hopping. I *love* "dandy lion" - may have to adopt that
Doesn't it KC
We stayed on our own island and did a looooooong cliff walk. Did the sums and couldn't justify the cost of a wee ferry trip. Another time maybe.
We bought some local fish instead (the royal we I mean, mr f does the treats) maade a fish stew which used up reduced tomatoes, spring onions and lemons (frozen) and I spent my money on some bits to help fix Darwin.
:T
Free walk and impromptu picnic, nice tea and a movie.

Is Darwin roadworthy yet?
Our (soon to be) veg plot is quite solid at the moment as next door's guttering has been leaking on it. DH has fixed the guttering (loose bracket- didn't cost anything) but the ground is very hard. We have started digging it over to try to loosen the soil a bit but it will take a while. Should we mix in a bit of compost/top soil to make sure it's "good" enough for our veg next year?
Hope you are being careful with your knee Pippi xGoals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -
Pippi's knee! I'd forgotten about that, my word yes - take care sweetie
Loving the sound of the fish stew, with lemons and spring onions - that sounds *so* tasty
Soil ... ah, the bane of my life round here! The cliche I use is that you could slice my soil and stick it in a kiln to make bricks - its dreadful. The bit at the very front, I'm just gradually digging it up and "disposing" of it - even the weeds won't grow, and its got moss all over it. When I plant stuff, I don't even break up all the clods, I let it dissolve back gradually - mostly, it has to be said, because there *are* worms in there, and I want to let them gradually ooze their way out and get back into the soil their own way2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Loving the soil chats and yes starnac that sounds ace, adding organic matter is always great.
Kc sounds likes your soil is very naughty.
Thanks for the fish stew compliment, works ace with quorn too :-)
Knee is ok bit pesky still but I walked 14 miles last week in total. Free exercise. Mainly is a half mile here and there but it adds up.
Today's plan is to go into town couple hours paid work writing up teaching, do some veg plot and prep for tomorrows cooking class (portions and meal planning.)
Potted the last of the tomatoes. In window boxes
Need to empty car of wood collected yesterday and put in garage for chopping.
Hounds had two walks so far today will take the, into town
Must take lunch. :-) green beans, eggs and sweetcorn - well it needs eated up..
Will check out the reduced veggies/fruit and we need milk but aside that we are ok.
Must formalise this meal plan.Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

All banks checked and sums done.
Put £736 to the cardsome expenses money came through and as I'm not getting away for a weekend to gardening Scotland (sob) then I put that money to the cards too. Done now, can't change it. Was a long shot hoping to go, and expensive so it's frugal not to go and the cc benefits.

Is Darwin roadworthy yet?
x
 nope he's not, a year or two of no money and neglect hasn't done him any favours.
But, I have a cunning plan to use the money from when my old car went on fire  and my polytunnel moneyto get him up to scratch, but it means doing lots of work myself.
In the mean time, I'm considering making him tomato HQ for the summer whilst we sort him out.
People have makeshift greenhouses in all sorts of things
Why not a vw camper.......:rotfl:
At least then he'd be useful:rotfl:Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

EH and I were discussing this the other day - how every member of the family has to pull their weight. EH made her car queue for the ferry while she and mr EH had a cuppa in a cafe! :rotfl: so it's only fair that Darwin pulled his weight tooGoals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000

Ha ha ha Starnac
I thi k it could just be the cold pippi as I've never known my soil to be so bad, the weeds seem to be doing ok a well which would indicate that the soul is rich enough ... But I do need to feed the soil as well me thinks ... Will try and do it when I get back from holibobs0 -
Well, Darwin has a lot of windows, doesn't he, as he's a camper van, so he can pretend to be a greenhouse, certainly :rotfl:
Sorry you're not going to get to go to Gardening Scotlandbut thats really good to throw the money at the card straight away :kisses3: very virtuous
More detail on the meal plan, please :rotfl: and if you can actually make a curry strudel, I think we should see pictures, thats really something2023: the year I get to buy a car0
