PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. And I was very amenable and friendly - they were in fact replying to an email I sent, with the information I forwarded as sent originally to EA.
I did not give them abuse, as eventually they did with me.
And as it happened, the EA hadn't given them all the info about why I was asking for a reduction so it was a good job I did in the end!
I wouldn't go back and do anything differently (apart from ask them to prove the status of the electrics in the beginning). Please respond to mine and others' posts with courtesy and kindness- and I will not deliberately disrespect you. Down with the trolls!0 -

I do take your point, but I think there is a clear distinction between amenable and abusive contact. The first email I received from the vendor stated "please contact the EA not us in future". Fine.
Then I got another abusive email this morning from them telling me they were considering dropping the sale. For that reason, I made my request. Please respond to mine and others' posts with courtesy and kindness- and I will not deliberately disrespect you. Down with the trolls!0 -
What did you actually ask them?
I asked when the property had been re-wired. Following a comment like "she's not sure exactly, but the vendor's husband is an electrician and everything is fine and up to date" one can assume that everything is in fact "fine and up to date".
Wasn't impressed for them to then turn around and start blaming me for the delays. Please respond to mine and others' posts with courtesy and kindness- and I will not deliberately disrespect you. Down with the trolls!0
