is that not worth the paper it's written on?0 -

And you pay each time you make a call on your contract - how very 1900s. :rotfl:0 -

Its not a contract, just a receipt.
The actual contract will have stated how much to pay, etc, etc, and what you were getting for that, your rights, etc, etc, and will have been signed by both parties.
Likewise if the receipt said £100,000 received with thanks, you couldnt claim back the other £90,000 that you never paid.0 -
Yep, that was my point, what is a receipt in law?
Is it evidence that a sum of money has changed hands or not, and if not, what is the point of a receipt?0 -
Yes, because that happens a lot out in the real world.
A salesman could easily lose their job over something like this.
Why be a !!!!!! about it?
What sort of places have you worked in that don't have any sense of humourand are firing people left right and centre? Mind you the sales person may welldeserve to get fired if they've done this before.
I would definitely pay them, just after a day or two for the inconvenienceof having to go back in.
How quickly do you think the dealer would pay back the money if it was theother way around? Would they call straight away or reply on the customerspotting it?
I'm not having a go at car dealers, I've been in the motortrade for 15 yearsso know exactly what they are like and know that they are all different!

Do bear in mind that the very small amount of actual complaints that get put on here that dont result in a happy ending are an extremely small percentage of the amount of transactions that happen in the motor trade.
So chances are, this is just a regular guy trying to get a regular wage to make ends meet - but its ok to punish him and maybe get him sacked?
Great.
I agree its a small minority that post complaints on here. BUT my last 2 car purchases have lest a bitter taste, and thats 2 different garages in the last 7 years. One lied the others were incompetent.
I didnt post on here about them0 -
Then i strongly suggest you're looking in the wrong places to buy your cars.
If you're receiving anything other than professionalism and courtesy in a main dealers then i would be phoning the Dealer Principal as he will want to know.
And in what sense are they lying to you? I'd call them on it and i dont see why you havent?
My last purchase complaint went to their head office, i didnt get anywhere though so found another main dealer to sort it, and have been back there for servicing rather than the main dealer who I had issues with.
I dont get why you always stick up for car salesmen when if you ask the average joe on the street about their experiences there would be many negatives0 -
Dont get me started on 'honourable' customers are....
BTW if you find dealers so hateful, why not just buy privately?
Dealers are there to make money, so clearly buying privately will save you money.
Thats the crux of it maybe? most car salesmen think of their customers like you do, less than honurable so treat them accordingly which of course is wrong.
I dont think many are advocating not paying, but can see the irony0 -

One of the first things I was told as a trainee salesman was 'buyers are liers'! Whilst that may be true sometimes, if salesman always think like that then they are never going to offer great customer service!0
