Have you never made an honest mistake?
Would you want to be punished for it and lose your job?
Or would you dearly love the opportunity to rectify it?0 -
It's not proving any point. In business how many people who owe money chase the person they owe it to to pay? It's always the other way round.
As for salemen, maybe if they were a better breed I'd feel more compassion for them. But having heard them just make up a pack of lies recently (and forever for that matter) the OP doesn't owe them any favours.
I dont think having to pay for the car when you receive it, OR as soon as possible after you know an error is made is 'owing anyone any favours'.
Whitewashing a whole industry based on the fact you think you were 'lied to' is a very narrow minded approach.0 -

I've been round main dealers and nationwide chains that act as main dealers for several makes.
Example 1 - car advertised as full service history. I check the book and it's had 2 services in 5 and a half years. Question this with the salesman and he says (clearly thinking on his feet) it's been placed on a 20k service schedule. Even so it had still missed services.
Example 2 - find a suitable car with no price on windscreen. Salesman says no problem I'll go in and check with manager. Comes back and gives us the price, thinking we were going to do a deal there and the. 5 mins later I check the website on my phone and the price is actually £400 less. Like I say, an honourable profession.0 -

How many miles were on the car? It could have had up to 60,000 miles and 2 services might still be correct. If it had 90,000 miles and two services then i'd be inclined to walk away.

Chances are the internet price is the discounted 'straight sale' price with nothing left in it. The sticker price on the forecourt may well have been the price with trade in. At that point the dealer may not have known whether you were a straight sale buyer or had a trade in.
Good opportunity missed to unsettle the salesman though - challenge him on the discounted online price and it might knock his confidence a bit and you could negotiate an even further discount.
OR alternatively you could let it develop into an irrational dislike of all salesmen?0 -
You pay for the minutes on your phone??
Everyone else in the country has free minutes, so its going to cost nothing.
Its a sad reflection on society when being honest and doing the right thing is no longer the automatic response.
Yes I do, you do too.
Why do think that you don't? Wait, you get everything for free? Is that it?0 -

I pay a set amount for an inclusive contact of 1000 minutes a month. Most people do?
Therefore any calls i make within that are 'free'.
If you've a contract and are paying for calls individually, you really need to talk to your provider as you're on the wrong plan.
If i was using a pay as you go phone, i would use a land line, of which the calls are free within my payment package.
If you're proposing using the 'cost' of a phone call as the reason for not doing the right thing, then you're just using it as an excuse really.

So you pay for 'free' stuff. Sweet!0
