What you pay your wife -and what you give your daughter are two entirely different things.

Legally -at this point- all you need to pay your wife is 15% of income -If you choose to increase your daughter's allowance or take her clothes buying , pay for driving lessons, out for meals etc -none of that is part of the "support" accounting.

PLEASE talk to another solicitor -it may be money well spent as at this point everyone thinks you're going to be hung out to dry when you get to court . In an ideal situation when you get to court your wife needs to have some income already- be that JSA and tax credits or a job. By keeping her -you are giving her zero incentive to do either.

Thing is her solicitor has threatend court order for maintanance now based on my oiginal offer of £1000 and because we have not yet supplied my outgoings list.

I have found an alternative solicitor at £238/hour but until I spend at least that I won't know if she'll have a different approach.

Thanks I need it, it's just so confusing I get conflicting advise.

I've just closed joint account as the 10 days notice has past and she hasn't transfered the DD etc.

So spend it and find out. If she's come from a recommendation and not just a google search, then it's got to be worth it.

And while you're at it - rent an apartment or house NOW. If your outgoings show that you're paying threpence a fortnight for a grotty bedsit - it'll be used against you. And frankly there's absolutely no reason for you to live like you are doing.

You need to stop making excuses and realise that the only person who is going to fight for you, is you.

To add - start using some of your money to pay your credit card bills too. Make sure that goes on your outgoings too.

Op , I would have found solicitors business nerve wracking as well as how do I know who is good and who is not. I think you have evolved well from the beginning of this thread when you believed it was right to pay and were just.puzzled giw come you doing the right thing but you have no money left.
The word "dilemma" comes from Greek where "di" means two and "lemma" means premise. Refers usually to difficult choice between two undesirable options.
Often people seem to use this word mistakenly where "quandary" would fit better.

I witnessed someone else's divorce , if you show in your financial statement you have outgoing and no money left they aren't going to rake it , if you show you can live in a bedsit that's going to be sealed approved and money taken to one who "needs " it. Unfair extremely but that's how it happened.
