Sounds like she , like you - realized the solicitors are NOT acting in your interests but see you both as nothing more than fee plumping fodder.

I am very relieved for you Jack -and the fact the final agreement was mutual may go a long way towards building some bridges in the future- not just between you and the kids but you and exMrsJ too. After all you were together a long time and raised two kids together-and no doubt there will be future family events you'll both be attending graduations, weddings, christenings etc where it's better for parents to be on civil terms at least socially .

Just because you have final agreement I hope you'll still see the complaint against the solicitor's failures through.

Please don't have the party the first week in September though ! ;)

For your kind words, support and advice over the last 2 years. There's a way to go yet and plenty of scope for further challenges but hopefully I have a direction. The fact that so many of you have cared has been a massive factor in my coping strategy so thank you for caring.

I am compiling my complaint letter but won't send for a few more weeks as there is plenty of scope for some more examples to be created in the £750+VAT to progress the order to court etc.

I have today ordered the replacement car, she says she only needs 12000 mile a year so that made it a bit cheaper.

The party will be after Decree Absolute so maybe October/November?

I'm viewing a house on Monday, I'm hoping I don't want to put an offer in as it'll be another 3 months until I get my deposit cash.
    Regards

Slow/low/no connectivity probs today as Fens usual, and extra mse ones suddenly[other Threads show I'm not alone with those], but -

Merci Millefois for kind 'Jack has settled!' pm from another poster, not known to me:-)))

Jack - at last, at last! but as with mgdavid, I want to see that 'ink dry' first.
-and no more fiddle-faddle delaying tactics from your solicitor's rider:

' I have suggested to them that the sale proceeds could be released to you both as soon as the order is signed. '

I see there was another low-dredged offering: #2961,
inaccurate, unpleasant and irrelevant as it was.

Signature fits attitude and content nicely.
'You're a temporary arrangement of matter sliding toward oblivion in a cold uncaring universe.'

-Jack, at time of writing you alone, ever decent, thank that one:D

On real mse, in line with Martin's founding wishes for this site, Jack's Thread has been underpinned by over 2 years of steady, unwavering, straightforward, warm and caring support for someone [and his children, if you can read] who asked for sensible suggestions in a modest manner.

Nothing since has shaken my 'sense' of Jack.

I doubt anyone else feels otherwise.

So, as soon as Jack says:

Mycomplaint is that they failed to provide me with a satisfactory service when handling my divorce and in particularthe financial settlement between June 2013 and June 2015

    My complaint isthat:

    · The charges didnot reflect the service and advice provided
    · Documentsprepared had mistakes that required my checking and corrections.
    · Poor managementof actuaries report to key milestone dates causing knock on effects generatinghigher fees.
    · Unnecessarywork conducted (house price calculation when purchase price was known).
    · Disproportionatefees charged for work conducted
    · Delay inputting proposal in writing.
    · Inconsistentadvice in terms of discount for pension cash sum.
    · Delays insending me counter proposals from the other side.

See attached ‘concern’ documents for 10 examples.

This situation has caused me confusionand delays in reaching a satisfactory settlement and significant costs, higherthan necessary. The delays have resultedthe cash from the sale of the Former Marital Home being available later thanpossible. [describe the impact thisissue has had on you, yourfamily orothers who have been affected by the problem]

In my view, you should reconsider the fees charged andrefund me an appropriate amount and compensate me for my loss. …. [describe what you think the service provider should do to put things right. Apologise? Return documents they’ve been holding on to? Do more work toput things right? Pay you some money to compensate you forsomething youhave lost or had to pay for as a result of their poorservice?].

I understand that you are required to respond formally to my complaint. I shall followupthis letterif I do not hearback from you by [give a date of about seven days]. In the meantime, if you need any furtherinformation from me, please [telephone me ontheabove number/write to me at the address shown].

I look forward to hearing from you in the very near future. Yours sincerely

Pink text is guidelines I've left in for now in the letter set out by legal ombudsmen.

Any views to enhance welcome, got a bit to do on it.

Early days Jack - as you say, it needs work and much fleshing out.

I'm sure you won't be sending it in until that 'plenty of scope for further challenges' period is ended.

If you've told us before and I can't find info, my apologies, but did your original schedule of charging from B's elaborate all the costs and levels to which you have so far been subject?

    Wholeheartedly agree with this ^^^

Looks like things are finally moving forward for you Jack, and not before time.

Hopefully, you can now dare to look towards the future. Your kids will come round sooner or later, even your son will realise how lucky he is to have one of those dads who doesn't shirk his responsibilities, and who still puts his children first. As I've stated previously, the kids will probably only really appreciate you when they grow up a little and start having relationships and children of their own.

Good luck with the solicitors' complaint, I don't know anything about law, but getting your name wrong on a letter which you're actually paying for, strikes me as laziness at best, if not downright incompetence.

Still, don't dwell on it too much, you have a party to plan......

(am window shopping for party frocks as we speak! :D)

I literally jumped for joy when I read your post about finally settling with the ex.

Hat's off to you Jack, you have done your utmost since the start, and I am hoping this is the start of a new chapter in your life. You deserve it.
