At first I suppose I was suspicious, but then I dug a bit deeper and found that he was by no means the only retailer who sold the product that he designed, but there were many other retailers also.
The word on the street in various forums is that he is no longer in the bed business, but he does still have his mattress advice site. So if this is true, then I would say that if he really doesn't have any vested interest, but still goes to the expense of running a website to give advice, then I know who I think is really impartial. Especially if he takes time to answer questions without any gain whatsoever. On the other hand, if you recommend a product that you sell, then there is a chance that you could get sales out of that recommendation.
It sounds like you were a little too paranoid at the time.
Well looks like his domain and hosting hasn't been renewed. Like I said what expense of running a website, the fees you pay are up front, those fees where clearly due after his other site shut.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0 -
i would recommend ergoflex after loads of research looking up reviews i went for that . for the kids they both love them .0

You resurrected a 9 month old thread just to prove your point?:hello:0 -
I'd love a memory foam mattress but get hot enough in bed as it is...even in January with the heating off!
Hearing that the memory foam mattresses make you even hotter puts me off a lot.0 -
Hi Pinkypants, I hope you don't mind if ask for some advice. Doing it here as could benefit any reader. Of course do ignore me if you think it is no appropriate.
Went to look at mattresses with OH yesterday and it became clear that we just really don't know how to go about it! OH likes firm mattresses. He gets back pains and it gets much worse if he sleeps on soft beds. I am the exact opposite! My bed consisted of a futon, topped with a foam layer and I loved it, he hated it! We are now married and sleeping on his bed and although I get on with it, now that I am exercising much more, I found myself increasingly uncomfortable and wake up all stiff and in pain. My sleep is really starting to be affected.
We got some wedding vouchers from Debenhams and John Lewis and thought we could use them towards a new mattress but don't know where to start. Debenhams claim to have 60% sale on them, but hubby is convinced that it is them claiming that when the mattresses are really not worth more than what they are going for at the moment.
Then there is the issue of what to go for and more importantly, how can we try any mattress!
We are considering a foam mattress, but how can we be sure that it will firm enough for hubby? Do those brands offering cheaper mattresses as good as tempur (as it is the case for many brands), or do tempur still offer much better quality (which we couldn't afford anyway!). Would you recommend a minimum layer of foam?
Finally, can we order a mattress, keep the plastic over it, use it for a few days and then return it easily if it doesn't work?
Any other advice would be really helpful as my hubby feels bad that I don't sleep well, but there is no point in getting a better bed for me for him to be the one getting bad quality sleep and back pain!0 -

What mattress do you have?
Because I'm in the trade and I've only ever known of 1 full memory foam mattress on the market and the suppliers told me that it didn't sell very well..
Im pretty sure people simply mean all foam. I call mine all memory foam. What I mean is no springs.
OP I love my fully foam mattress & would never go back to springs.0 -
Ive got a memory foam pillow. I hate it. On the strength of that i would never have a memory foam mattress.pulliptears wrote: »In fairness the pillows are a different beast altogether. I DETEST the pillows but I wouldn't be without my mattress.
OH has one, uses it as a bottom pillow, when I roll over to his side in the morning when he's left for work I take my own pillows with me

I've bought memory foam pillows & hated them, a kaymed one & its nice, a tempur one & its wonderful:j0 -
I can only go off my experience and say I would never buy another full memory foam mattress.
We paid about £900 in November 2012 for ours and if I could turn the clock back I would. I like a soft bed and simply cannot get comfortable on it at all. On the bed we now have a duck down topper and over that on my side only I have another single duck down topper. It is like the Princess and the Pea. DH has to scale the heights to visit me!
And the mattress is so hot even with the toppers that I am throwing the covers off all night.0 -

When we bought our current bed about two years ago we did a lot of research and trying things out. OH prefers a firmer bed than I like. The advice we were given in the more "reputable" shops was to go for a firm mattress with a softer top. That might work for you, too. The base also makes a big difference to the feel of the mattress.
When you're trying out beds in shops, take a sheet (even a mattress cover too) and put it on them - mattresses feel quite different once a sheet is on. Also, both of you lie on the bed for as long as you can. All the shops are happy for you to spend ages. We got some interesting looks by other people trying things out for what seemed to be seconds :rotfl:.
Tempur offer a trial of their mattresses. I know that's not what you're planning, but if they do it maybe other manufacturers do too.
Our "new" mattress has a memory foam topping. The previous one was latex. Having had both I'd go for latex rather than memory foam next time. Unfortunately the price of the new bed means it had better see me out !. . .I did not speak out
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me..
