Leeds Online Bonus ISA

Hi,

I opened up Leeds Online Bonus ISA last weekend. ID was all verified electronically and I only I needed to send in signed application and opening cheque.

I send the chq and application Monday morning. I have checked my account online and its still showing zero balance and when I click on my ISA then it tells me they are still waiting for application form to arrive.

Any idea how long its taking for it to be processed?

What details I will need to transfer FP/BACS payment into that account?

Thanks

  • Ditto for me too.

I assume they have a massive backlog going by how quickly they stopped offering the ISA.

Yup. When I phoned them last Saturday I was told that the application probably wouldn't be processed until the end of the week, which has come and gone. If you look on their website there is a warning about high levels of calls, so it's probably worth waiting a few days before ringing them.
  • Same for me too!, although I'm a bit unsure as to whether they verified my ID properly either.

It stated on the email confirming opening of the account

"Once we receive your application, please allow us up to 5 working days to process it and contact you. If you did not print the application form, please contact our Customer Helpline on 08450 50 50 75 for advice on how to re-print your application form."

They would have told you in their email if they had been not been able to verify your ID.

I meant the staff at the branch of Leeds Building Society I took my ID to, they didn't seem to know what to do with it, and they just photocopied it and left it on the side with my application form.

I've just received an email saying they have a huge backlog and are working through applications in order and expect them to be done in 7-10 days. It also says that interest will be backdated to the date that they received the signed application which is good news.

It says online that my initial cheque has been deposited but not available for withdrawal. I guess because it hasn't cleared yet.

The ISA transfer hasn't gone through yet but I know that takes longer.

The funny thing though is that even though I have linked an account to the Leeds ISA account it says: -

"Please note transfers are not allowed to be made from this account. However, the current transfer accounts are listed below for your information."

Not sure why that is! I was trying to find how to deposit more money into the Leeds ISA. Any ideas?

ETA: Or do I need to go to my bank where the money is coming FROM to set up the payment? That would make sense.

ETA2: But if I wanted to withdraw my ISA money then can't I do that online?
It's taken me a lifetime to start looking after my money and now I'm addicted to doing it! :cool2:

Gosh, yes, that's seriously weird! Mine is exactly the same. I have emailed them to find out how to get money out of the account, so will keep all informed.
Paying in should be OK though - set it up through your own bank with the Leeds info that they should have given you: Sort code 402715, acct 12440040 with your ISA acct no as the reference. (Do check those figs are right.)

Hope they sorted okay for you previously when I have opened in a branch with ID they have written on the photocopies that they have seen the originals. Fingers crossed!
