Hey PWPS! I know the struggle of having nothing left til payday. I had £2 and spent... £24 *cough* - it came out of savings but that is not the point!!!! Now trying to work out how to make that cash back!
Your oil really does last over summer doesn't it! Ninno wrote something on her diary about joining an oil club in her village where they clubbed together and bought in bulk, successfully negotiating a better price for it. It saved her over £100. Do lots of people near you have oil fired CH?
My mum has wood burners, and has them hooked up to the heating/water so the one in the kitchen covers CH & Hot water. Does mean in summer when it isn't lit, it is heated electrically (the water) with an immersion which can cost a lot. Still they kick out some serious heat and are really quite economical with the fuel!
I am sure you will manage a way to get through the week without spending that £20. The flapjacks sound yum! I am off to googlealthough every bit of dried fruit in this house is eaten by the child as soon as it appears...

Hi lilt, sadly the back boiler had been taken out of the fire where we live, it would be great if we could heat our water from the woodburner but sadly without the expense of putting one back it is not possible.
We do get our oil at a discount as the farmer my DH works for orders it for us, he also buys for his own huge house his father and Mil, so we do get a bit of a discount, DH he has asked farmer and it will be ordered some time next week, fingers crossed this weather stays nice, although if I have to light the stove I can warm pans of water on the top as it has a flat top.
Have managed to do a few surveys, going to go and do some ironing and then tidy up tea things.0 -
Forgot to mention I did meter readings last night and we are £74 in credit, I'm hoping we end up quite a bit more in credit by christmas as this is when we seem to use loads of electric, I think it's because we have extra people staying, ao more showes, tv's and game consoles on constantly etc.0

Hiya
Glad you get the discount, but gutting on the back boiler. Mum and dad had theirs replaced a couple of years ago as due to dad being stupid and leaving the air right open and the door cracked, he set the stove on fire and cracked the boiler that was in there! Melted the irons on the bottom too, so it couldn't even be riddled properly. Was a bit expensive sorting it, but they love having them. Mainly because as a kid we had no heating at all apart from an electric fire in the living room and an oil radiator in my bedroom!
Ref the meter readings etc, when do you get billed? This new Ofgem rule completely scuppered my winter savings; have a DD to build up credit through summer, but get billed in August (once a year now) and the new rules say that if you are more than £5 in credit, they just dump it back into your bank account. Not only did they give me my credit back, they upped my DD to cover it... went from £63 to £83 overnight, but had £172 back! Ridiculous really.
Ironing, you're a better woman than I. I've washed the pots, put the leftovers in tupperware for tomorrow & taken the bin out. Just had a shower and that's your lot!cuppa and laptop, surfing for my new laptop
Just over 3 months time and I shall have a shiny new one!

Hi Lilt, DD is monthly for leccy and we are billed quarterly, so no doubt they will give us the credit back at some point, decrease our DD and then we will use more over winter and end up in debt with them, I love the logic of energy companies.............not.
Have done some but not all the ironing, will pack everything in lunch boxes except for sandwiches and then I'm settling down with a cuppa and watching cilla.0 -
Love what you did with the cannellini beans. I would have done the exact same. How did it turn out?
Its really funny to hear other hubbies complaining about the no meat issue although DD is the same....
Oh well - I tend to use up whatever is in the cupboard...

Afternoon.
Bean stew was yummy, served it with grated cheese on the top and crusty bread and DH ate it and didn't add any meat and didn't complain.
Not a lot to update, I have lit the woodburner as I'm freezing, it's been raining here but luckily DH was home for lunch so he had brought the washing in.
Pasta bake for tea tonight and I'm going to make some choc rice crispy cakes for the kids lunch boxes.
Posted ebay parcel this afternoon and had to really resist buying a choc bar as well, but I was good and came home and had a piece of toast and jam.
Still waiting for payments from mysurv£y and m1ndm0vers, once these arrive they will be paid straight off Mr T cc.0 -
