Scroll down to Security and untick TLS 1.1 and 1.2 as their server doesn't support it
Now this was very strange. Earlier on today I made sure that nothing was ticked other than SSL3 and TLS1 but still it did not work.
I have just tried unticking both boxes, closing IE and then opening it again and reticking the boxes, then closing and reopening.
Now it works!
Thanks to everyone for their help.0 -

A bit like that myself but with it only being one single site that I don't use often nowadays, I was prepared to let it.
Thanks again.0 -

Excellent!
Unchecking only TLS 1.2 did the trick for me. I hadn't realised just how little support the protocol has amongst browsers and websites.0 -
The support is likely to increase as server software gets updated.Interests: PCs. servers, networks, mobiles and music (esp. trance)0

Thank you so much for fathoming out this problem - I use Windows 8 in a VM on my MacBook and use firstdirect to log in to all my online accounts and Nationwide has been "down" for weeks - I've just unticked the TLS options and its working again :beer:0

I'm quite surprised they haven't had developers fix it by now.
I would suspect a proportion of their customers would have been bending their ear about it.Interests: PCs. servers, networks, mobiles and music (esp. trance)0 -
I'm struggling with their website again today. I reallly don't want to clear my cookies and things as I find them too useful. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0
