I have had a play with this one and have duplicated the problem. So this may provide a solution.

When you go from the main Nationwide webpage to the login page you go to a secure https: webpage.

If your security settings have been changed then you will get the problem you describe.

    Try the following...

    Click Tools/Internet Options/Advanced
If you are computer challanged then click "Reset Internet explorer settings" and put everthing back to default.

If not then scroll down to Security and look for "Use SSL" and "Use TLS".
The default is "Use SSL3" and "Use TLS1" on Internet 10. What do you have selected ??
    Change if necessary.
If that doesn't work I would just do the "Reset Internet explorer settings" and put everthing back to default.

    Hope that helps.

Have you checked that these settings have not changed (maybe by another programme)

First 2 answered Yes. Only one that says No is Images enabled. Following their Setup tab only goes through the SSL and TLS settings which are all as it should be.
Have you tried disabling your security/virus software temporarily to see if it works. Is Nationwide's site down as a trusted website in its settings?

    Yes but makes no difference.

They haven't though. This would also cause problems with all https sites and it's only this one that has the problem.

All SSL and TLS boxes have a check mark next to them as per Nationwide's own support page.

If that doesn't work I would just do the "Reset Internet explorer settings" and put everthing back to default.

    Makes no difference.

A Google search shows this page with exactly the same problem and everything tried.

    d

All the boxes are ticked ???
Nationwide only shows SSL 3.0 and TLS 1.0.
If others are ticked then your browser is not at its default settings.

Are you able to get into any other HTTPS pages eg https://signin.ebay.co.uk
Edit: OK I didn't read your posts properly and see that you can !!!

If that works then maybe the Nationwide login website site address is blocked.
Check Tools/Internet Options/Privacy/Sites and look for any domain related to Nationwide that is blocked. You could click remove all.

If you are blocked on other HTTPS sites then maybe your Internet explorer HTTPS system is broken.

So try a full uninstall and re-install of Internet Explorer...

Go to Control Panel/uninstall a program/Turn windows features on & off
Uncheck Internet explorer then click OK
Wait for the uninstall then repeat but check the Internet explorer box and OK for re-install.

If that doesn't work then check your HOSTS file (do a file search eg C:\Windows\System32\drivers\HOSTS)). This diverts your browser on certain addresses.

Use a text editor like notepad to open it. There may be a lines like this... 127.0.0.1 google-analytics.com
check that there are no Nationwide references. If there are then delete the lines concerned and re-save the file.

Otherwise it maybe in your firewall /router settings for handling HTTPS.

I have trouble with IE10 when I try to update any payments on PC or Laptop. Gave up and used Firefox.

Sorry - didn't make that clear. I meant all (as in both) boxes that Nationwide showed were ticked and not all of the othe others.
If that works then maybe the Nationwide login website site address is blocked.

    It's not blocked.

Only this site has the problem. All other sites are fine.

Uncheck Internet explorer then click OK
Wait for the uninstall then repeat but check the Internet explorer box and OK for re-install.

Could be a possibility but seems a bit of an overkill for just one problem site.
If that doesn't work then check your HOSTS file (do a file search eg C:\Windows\System32\drivers\HOSTS)). This diverts your browser on certain addresses.

Use a text editor like notepad to open it. There may be a lines like this... 127.0.0.1 google-analytics.com

I can't see it being any of these as all other browsers work fine with Nationwide and all other sites work fine with all browsers.

Thanks for all the suggestions though.

I don't like saying this as I do this kind of stuff for my day job but on this one I am officially stumped.

Only thing I can suggest is upgrading to IE10 via Windows Update or https://www.microsoft.com/ie
