Don't worry, the shop will cover the cost of this and other 'compensation' claims by putting up their prices...........

    Yawn!
The shop should behave lawfully/train staff adequately etc....
Moreover, the amount this company pay out is miniscule compared to their turnover. There heating an lighting costs and diesel costs will dwarf any compo bill/s.

And what you expect your balance to be come the end of April;)

because, no doubt you have been sworn to secrecy;)

  • Glad it was resolved but I would love to know how much hush money they gave you.

    Are we talking

    a) 3 figures
    b) low 4 figures (less than 5k)
    c) high 4 figures

I was hoping this thread would persuade me to go your route but without knowing exactly how they resolved it i would still take it straight to the Police.

I'm not convinced all they offered was money either because you could have got a lot more dragging it out if that was the only motivation.

I suspect that it is sufficient for the citizen to have very significant proof (which they clearly did not have in this case).

I was taught that the only acceptable proof was actually witnessing the offence.
