  • Morning all - hope we are all okay.

AM so pleased that everything is okay - Aston will be made up with a little brother.

Heather - sending labour vibes your way.

I woke up with shooting pains in my bump this morning so I have sent hubby and DSS out for the day so I can relax (I never do when they are here, even though I say I will  ). I am sure it is me just overdoing it but have been ordered by my mum to rest up for the day!!

Have just waved them off and I am going back to bed!

Went to see my friend yesterday who had a baby girl 3 weeks ago. She's not having a great time of it. Baby has reflux and friend has mastitis and generally seems to be struggling...kind of hit home that once bubba is here I am going to have to cope 24/7 somehow! I MUST get used to asking for help. I know I am terrible at it but I need to learn sooner rather than later...

  • I've only managed to ASK for help once so far (hoover was broken, so got mum to pop round with hers... then watched her do it all for me!), but I've set myself a rule that I'm not allowed to say "no, it's ok" if anyone wants to give me a hand with anything. (money or practical stuff)

This is not the time to be proud!

We've started stocking up on a few baby things (27 + 5 today, so it seemed like a good time) and are starting to sort out the spare room now lodger is finally out. Husband and MIL seem to think they are going to replace the kitchen and the bathroom by the time baby comes, as well as getting the spare room sorted. I don't think so!

  • Hi everyone,

I need some pushchair advice! Need to look at a double pushchair for Charlie & bump. I've have a long term loan of a side by side double as I'm a childminder but its such a beast, I can hardly move it now let alone when I'm 7months + preg. So I'm looking for a tandem pushchair.

At the moment Charlie has a Chicco Winter London and I really like it. Its umbrella folding so stays nice and small and although the wheels aren't inflatable style they are sturdy. I had a mothercare one and the wheels bent and buckled after a few weeks of having it. I know of someone who is selling a Mothercare tandem pushchair for about £100 which has hardly been used but I not sure if I'll trust it fully, and as its a private sale I can't take it back if someting happens.

Anyway I'm rambling. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations?

    Hi

Couldn't think where else to ask - just after a bit of advice please, if you will.

Background info: I am 43, OH is 45. We have 3 kids, the last one being conceived with a coil insitu. Just after last one was born, 12 years ago, OH had vasectomy. Around 2 years ago I had an endometrial thermablation (?sp), for heavy periods, which means the lining of the womb is removed to lessen or stop periods. Mine have continued, but much lighter.

I am usually very regular around every 28 days, but at the minute I am around 39 days. Daughter is currently pregnant (early days) and has a fear of miscarrying and so does tests regularly.

Earlier today, I noticed one of the tests lying around and so decided to take one. Got an empty pot from the bathroom and did the test. To my amazement it was positive. Shouted my daughter in to show her and to confirm there were 2 lines (there definitely were!) . I then questioned her and she told me that she had used the same pot in the past (since being pregnant). Now, the pot looked clean and dry and did not have any residual liquid in it when I used it. She is sure she cleaned it out when she emptied it.

She then ran out to get me another test. This was negative. Husband got me another one, same make as the 2nd one and this was also negative - both were sensitive at 25 hcg. I think the first test might have been a 10hcg one.

Question is: I am now thinking that by some miracle, some of the urine hormone was left in the pot (daughter hasn't tested since last week). Is this likely do you think?

I am more inclined to believe the 2 negative tests than the 1 positive, but would just like some other thoughts on this.

By the way, I am and have always been 100% faithful to my OH!!

    Thank you

    C

Cazzie - I'm sure I read or heard somewhere that some soaps or washing up liquids can affect results too, so even if the pot was cleaned out, that might have made a false positive?

Thanks feelinggood. I don't "really" think I could be pregnant, but seeing the positive test threw me!!

    Thanks

Claire jones how funny that i have a charlie and a bump too lol!! i had a lot of problems with doubles think i tested everyone that was on the market. had my heart set on the icandy pear but hated it when i tried it out. I have since bought the Phil & Teds as i found it to be a great pram and not as heavy or hard to steer as the others. I also like the fact i could use it as a single and not have to have another pram lying aound, also i dont know how old your charlie is but mines is only 8 months at the mo and will be around 13 when the bump arrives and think he will want to walk a lot when the time comes. hope this helps:D x

I'd not panic yet :) As she's probably got LOTS of hormones in her urine it wouldn't take much to show as pregnant...
So... at 39 days you should be having a lot of hormones and therefor the test should show as positive - on that not though I WOULD say re take one in a couple of days just to put your mind at ease...

BTW - vasectomies aren't always 100%... Or at least that was what my dad was told when he had his done... Don't know if they just told him that to cover themselves...

    Evening all,
It's quiet tonight, presume everyone is out enjoying themselves:D
    I'm home alone tonight and a little bored so thought I would try and get an answer to question that was posed to me today;
When do peoples bellys start getting hard and when do belly buttons 'pop'?

    TIA
