    Hi all -

I just got Some Derma Mum Stretch Mark Oil in Boots for £3 - reduced from £11.99 :money:

I don't think I need to buy any more lotions and potions now :o I think I am just using it as an excuse to not start buying madly for bubba - I just know that once I get started I will struggle to stop.

I have also bought a cushion for my chair at work but to be honest my tailbone is still hurting like mad.

In boots at the moment they have the Tommee Tippee breastfeeding pump and related products (steriliser, bottles etc) for 1/3 off. I was thinking of plumping for these (ridiculously expensive) anti-colic bottles http://www.tommeetippee.co.uk/product/closer_to_nature_anti-colic_bottle_/ which I think are also supposed to mimic the action required for breast feeding.
Do you think it is too early to start buying that kind of stuff?

I am also thinking that if I am unable to breast feed then will I have wasted my money on expensive products for nothing.

    Decisions, decisions...

You sound so much like me MFD :rotfl:

As for lotions and potions, I decided to go with the Palmers stretch mark cocoa butter cream. Now I know you have mentioned this before and said about smelling all chocolatey but the stretch mark one I got doesn't have such a strong chocolate smell. I asked hubby if i smelt like chocolate after i put it on and he looked as me as if i was stupid :D

As for the bottles/breastfeeding stuff I am not so sure. Been thinking about this myself. Was at a car boot on the weekend and a woman was selling an avent manual breat pump which the bottles etc for £1. Now I didn't pick it up so I am not sure if it had been used (thinking it hadn't), but i still didn't get it. I want to breastfeed so it would have been handy, but wasn't sure if it was too early to buy or what if i can't breastfeed in any event. I know £1 isn't a lot and I could of just got it, but i tend to walk away and not get someting and then regret it later. :D

I do remember saying 'I cant do this!' and it was just before she was born apparently most women say this and its a clue to the midwife the birth is imminant!

    quote]

:rotfl: i'm laughing because i said I can't do this!!!! and then baby came minutes later! :o

To those worried about things like making noises etc-seriously you won't care.... but saying that i managed not to swear or shout at anyone, i was concentrating on breathing the gas and air and trying my best to keep calm (was worried my bp might go up or something).

Once again, don't have enough time to write much :o one day i'll finally get a photo and birth story on lol. x

The tommee tippee closer to nature breast pump is on sale for £5 in asda at the moment.

If you can breastfeed - great. But even when breastfeeding it's sometimes nice to have a break, and go out with your boobs, but minus baby! If you don't use them, keep everything in the box & sell it later

  • Hi keelykat - hope you are doing okay and not too shattered!

Which brings me to thinking that Fritha hasn't been around for a day or so  wonder if she has given birth yet?

AF - for a pound I would have bought it :D Especially if it didn't look used (still boxed etc.)...although those anti-colic bottles are SOOO tempting to a gadget-aholic like me!!

I just didn't want to pick it up, it being used and then put it down and the woman think i was tight for not wanting to spend £1. :D

Ive managed to add a photo of Elliot to my avater, as he's fast asleep (so is dad at mo lol!).

My basic birth story; well i was supposed to be induced on the wednesday, but my waters broke at 11:45pm on the monday and i rang up the hospital to be told to go in straight away. So off we rushed, my pains/contractions already getting strong and more often. Whilest in the waiting room-my waters broke even more and gushed everywhere-me being the way i am, was worried about the mess! (silly me!) As it was really busy i was taken to a room to be checked over, but then left there for ages as one lady was rushed in for a c-section and another was in the labour room! I was finally given gas and air, and i was examined (this bit made me cry-she pulled forward my cervix or something).... they moved me into a more comfy room but then notl ong after rushed me into the room to give birth! i was so confused as to why it was all going so quickly. By 4:27am i had given birth! no one expected it to happen so quickly, they couldnt believe it was my first either. As he was in a rush to meet us-i had three 2nd degree tears and needed stitches (that were more painfull then giving birth!).

    The worst part-tearing,
Funniest part (and prob tmi here sorry)-weeing with each contaction!! luckily no poo though!
Best part-obviously meeting my litte boy!

He weighed 6lb 8oz, and has his dads hair colour and not mine (me being a red head). he's so gorgeous! cant wait to see midwife tomorrow to see how much he now weighs!

My advice to any moms to be-concentrate on taking deep breathes to calm you down and not panick. My husband helped loads, think he even suprised himself. He even cut the cord!!

I cant believe i coped so well, after all the worrying i did. So if i can do it-you can too (im normally so sensitive and keep myself to myself).

Good luck to mums to be on here :-)

    Hi everyone:hello:
Not much to report except DD is still here, and her morning sickness has now changed to night sickness, like mine did:eek:
Talking of anti colic bottles, my bro recently used the Dr Browns ones for my niece who had awful colic;)
As for swearing and shouting in labour, I did a lot of it, and expect DD will as we are very gobby anyway soooo:whistle:
Oh and many CONGRATS AND WELL DONE KEELY:)

  • Thanks for that Keely...I think!

    Elliott is GORGEOUS!

Candygirl - I am tempted by the Dr Browns ones too but the tommee tippee ones have a teat which is more nipple like (so provides another temptation for me!!)
