    Hi Ems2,

    Welcome aboard.

I would have been lost without this thread and a few friends.

It's a great place to come becuase no matter how silly you think your question or fear is, someone is always going through the same as you. It's very comforting.

Don't worry about the tears, there are plenty of those going around at any one time.

Ok, Ladies I need some help.

Where is the best place to get Maternity clothes that don't break the bank, my wife's on the verge of tears as she can't find anything the ranges are just so poor, she's tried Mothercare, Dotty P's, New Look and she just can't find anything she says she doesn't want to spend £30 on just one pair of trousers etc.

    HELP PLEASE

H&M do a range and keep trying New Look as their range changes really quickly.

Red Herring in Debenhams apparently also do a good range although I haven't been there yeat and M&S is another one to try...

Next do a range as well but not all stores carry it. I got a trouser suit for £50 from them. i'll add a pair of trousers and that should see me to the end of the year for work

I found casual clothes okay (jeans, tshirts etc) but smarter stuff for work has been harder. Has she tried bump bands to get more use out of existing clothes e.g. t shirts that are too short to cover whole bump but still fit otherwise?

    Amen to that one!

SB - I didn't entertain last night - we went out instead and I had a lovely time. SIL bought me some lovely flowers as a belated birthday gift and we had a good old chinwag! Best of all we left about 9.30pm so I still managed an early night.

AF - hope you are feeling a bit brighter today - I think you have passed your cold onto me though :D

    Story so far;
Took test and it was positive yay! the next day i started bleeding, only light brown blood (sorry if TMI) did some research, remebered what people had said, and thought it wasn't great but will make appointment with GP for few days time. WHen I arrived @ Docs it got heavier and red, absolutley gutted and went into doc in tears and told her, she said "oh well you're having a miscarriage go home and rest". wasn't happy with that and asked how to know for sure so she said she would request an scan for a few days time. Got home and bleeding returned to as before but lighter. 3 days later(felt like 3 months!!) had a scan and they saw a heartbeat phew! they booked me in for one in two weeks time, today, which was also the first time I stopped bleeding...
Also work contract is coming to an end and think will struggle getting anything decent for only 6 months ( and planned a big trip to NZ in jan/feb next year so will make it even harder for me to get job...)

luckily my darling darling husband is the sweetest man alive and has been very supportive.

THanks for that, it feels good getting it off my chest and sorry for long post

glad you ended up having a good night last night, you deserve it.

i do feel a bit brighter today, still quite upset about it, but i get mad then that a let someone like that upset me the way i did.

strange thing though i was talking to my friend about feeling the baby move and i said i think it's too early for me, haven't felt anything except pull type feelings. she was lucky and was able to feel her son quite early when she was pregnant, like butterflies.

i was lying in bed this morning waiting for my alarm to go off, thought i'd have a chat to bubs with my hand on my belly and under my right hand i had this sensation of a spin, like the baby moving around just as it did on our scan. now i am certain i imagined it, but it was a lovely thought :D

I thought they are all lovely things on there. Not sure an 18 would fit me though,

They're worth trying, I didn't think I'd shorhorn myself in either but they're surprisingly generous, I fit in (most stuff) easily and even now at the grand old gestation of 39 weeks tmrw they still fit fine! :-) I've only got tops from there though I must admit

Yeah, I'll be replying one post at a time, I thought it was easier than forgetting!

Well a quick phonecall to the wife tells me she's tried both George and Peacocks but they don't stock maternity ranges :(

We may have to resort to online only!

Our Asda doesn't do maternity any more, but I got some trousers, jeans and tops in Peacocks last week! Is your Peacocks in a big town? Maybe only the larger stores stock maternity. I went to Liverpool and got stuff from Peacocks, New Look, Dorothy Perkins and was very impressed with H&M.

I've also been donated stuff from my cousin - but she had her baby last September so its mostly summer stuff!!

And, i've got some nice stuff from ebay. If you don't mind second hand, and you look carefully, you can get some good quality stuff as maternity clothes aren't worn for long.

just to let you know Jake (Luca Tierney) is a very perfect 6lb 13oz, and arrived 2 hours past his due date at 1.45am on 17th Sept 08. S.E.X was what started the labour, so if you're still waiting girls...you know what to do!

Labour for me, was absolutely horrific, and that was even with a friend, whose a midwife, delivering him..... i didnt have any complications, it was just very fast and very intense, and VERY painful for me. I never imagined i'd be so affected, but he is worth it.

Ive attached a pic of him at 10 mins old

Congrats Lola, he's gorgeous :-) And you look sickening good for someone who'd just finished labour!

Peackcocks: If you do the store finder thingy you can click through to each of the nearby shops and if they have a tick next to maternity they stock it. It looks a bit random who stocks it and who doesn't tbh!
