Just noticed that I've been missed off the latest list so have added myself back on - 24 weeks gone.
Sorry to hear about your MIL troubles. Mine lives at the other end of the country but we get on really well so probably won't have those problems.
By the way need to get some extra fibre in my diet and want to drink fruit juices but have heard a rumour that I should avoid pineapple (which is my favourite) any advice?

the theory is that eating pineapple will bring on labour - however you need to eat 2 whole pineapples at least for there to be enough to make any difference and even then the jury's out
And if your body's not ready to go into labour it'll have no impact at all anyway - I've been loving pineapple through most of my pregnancy.
if you can make smoothies with friut as you get more fibre than in juice and if you're adding milk or yogurt (or even icecream) then you're getting some calcium too.

:T Thanks for that Justie, now at least I can drink the carton I bought to have at work. How far gone are you ?Mum to 2 lovely boys who keep me busy.0

33 weeks - I think, my brain has gone to mush and numbers don't really mean anything :rolleyes:0
-
And doesn't the pineapple have to be unripe too?:wall:0
-
I have had crusty nips morning and evening since about 5 weeks and at 16 weeks i got a tiny amount of wet white stuff that took me somewhat by surprise. Husband was sorry to miss seeing it and keeps asking me to check if theres any more, wierdo that he is(sorry if tmi but someone did ask):j Baby bonce was born on Christmas morning after a ridiculously short labour and no pain relief! If only losing the baby weight was as easy!:T0

What do you do when the Gods conspire against you attending antenatal classes?
The NCT cannot fit me in no matter how much I have begged. And I have left several messages for the lady who sorts out the NHS ones - she is only available on a mobile number, and you're only supposed to call in a 1 hour window each week - she has never called me back and at 27 weeks I am thinking there's no chance... the only other private organisation I've found 'might' be able to squeeze me in, I am waiting for a response...
Should I start panicking? Surely I can't be expected to do all of this blindly. And sorry but booking antenatal classes at 12 weeks pregnant? Yeah right.
And then there's my lovely idea of a homebirth. Everything I've read says I should have a great relationship with my midwife. I've seen this woman twice - how does that work then?
Also my baby still is not kicking. The scan has reassured me that he does indeed move, I just don't feel it (they said the loads of fluid in there made for good pictures but poor feeling of movement) and we have a doppler so it's not that I'm scared anymore, but a week from now I should be feeling him 10 times in 10 hours - not looking likely, is it!0 -
Oh the guilt! I'm actually attending two classes, NCT and hospital... I'm sorry you're having such trouble, Fac. Start hitting the books!
I have no idea why NCT have such trouble. I was initially told how busy they were and she had no idea how to sort all these people out. In the end only 4 (instead of 8) couples came to the first class, so space is there, if only last-minute.
In the meantime, how about all the other bits and pieces - physiotherapy breathing classes, relaxation classes, my hospital also do a quickie birth class for those not attending the antenatal course? Anything like that?
I do hope you get something sorted soon.:wall:0 -
Should I start panicking? Surely I can't be expected to do all of this blindly.
Everything I've read says I should have a great relationship with my midwife. I've seen this woman twice - how does that work then?I completely appreciate that, in an ideal world, especially first-time mums do need some sort of organised activity, but it's not crucial.
I honestly do not remember a single thing that I actually learnt from my NHS classes with DS. They were good from a social point of view, as it was nice to meet other pregnant women who lived in my area, and it was also nice to see the hospital, but apart from that, honestly, it's not like they were some sort of fountain of all knowledge - more like a chance for a chat over some dodgy biscuits and a cup of overly sweet squash
All I'm saying is, if you don't manage to get a place, it's not the end of the world. Yes it would be nice, but it's really not the be-all and end-all. :grouphug:
And regarding the great relationship with the midwife - ha! :rotfl: Mine seems nice enough, but I've seen her for 5 minutes at a time every couple of months so it's not like she's my best friend. :rolleyes:0
