Hi all
Sorry not been on for so long, but have been a bit busy :rotfl:
Baby Isaac born 3 weeks early weighing 5lbs 3.5oz - so we spent a couple of weeks in special care (as his weight dropped to 4lbs 7oz at one point...). Hospital staff were wonderful though. Isaac is now nearly 8 weeks old and weighs just over 7lbs, so everyone is very pleased.
Hope all OK with everyone.
Breastfeeding is hard work, but worth the effort every time. Whenever you are feeling extremely tired and sore at 3am, you just have to remember it is good for baby and at least you can feed without leaving the comfort of your duvet rather than having to pootle downstairs to sterilise bottles :T That is what gets me through the night!
Helen

That's another way to do it, you can leave it in the fridge for a lot longer than formula or cows milk too. See information on expressing and storing breastmilk here.
Also at 4-5 months baby would be able to use a slow flow cup so a bottle wouldn't be the be all and end all... Boots do a really good small cup with sof teat and 1 hole in, or tommee tippee do non spill ones that are recommended from 4 months (although DD couldn't figure out how to get anything out of them!) There is a lot of trial and error involved!A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... Oh well, is a while off yet, but is good to be informed!!
Thanks for your advice. Is nice to know other people aren't able to exclusively breast feed for whatever reason.
I was feeling guilty about going back to work so soon but hopefully it'll all work out.0 -
If it wasn't work it would be something else.. Motherhood comes with a whole load of guilt!A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... Hello! I'm getting closer to wednesday when they are inducing me, but think something's begining already-nothing major but ive been getting period type pains/cramps, back ache and tightenings in my bump that i havent had before-rather uncomfortable. Woke me up several times in the night, and kept feeling like i needed the loo (tmi- for a no 2). Probably nothing, but seeing as this is my first ive no experience and feel totally clueless! Good job they are inducing me and can keep an eye on me! lol.
Keeping calm......Mommy to Elliot (5) and Lewis (born xmas eve 11!)0 -
Congrats helen - good to hear you and baby Isaac are doing well.
shopaholic - I have exactly the same dilemma, I will be going back to work at least part time after 4 or 5 months and I have been mulling over the whole breastfeeding / expressing / bottle feeding / weaning issue.
Having said that the girls at work keep telling me that it is IMPOSSIBLE to BF for more than the first month or so anyway  :rotfl:
Hope everyone is okayplease listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
Thought some ladies might be interested in my week 27 email from Mothercare:
"Going a bit dippy is a common pregnancy trait. But if you really go doolally, you could be carrying a girl. In tests, mums carrying boys out-perform mums carrying girls. But after the birth your brain (usually!) gets back on track".
Hmmmmm!
How exciting, Keely!!!

morning all,
MFD, I seem to keep following your morning posts. Promise, I'm not a stalker honest.
Thanks for all the posts re breastfeeding. It is a quandry I find myself in too. Krystaltips, your information and assistance is invaluable.
Looks like I might be returning to work after 3 or 4 months also and had concerns about being able to continue to breastfeed etc, so it is nice to be able to share the questions/issues with others.
I had a horrible night. Started getting a sore throat and blocked nose which lead me to being awake to gone 3am. Up for work just before 7am and I am knackered. Good training I guess. Problem is that i have sooooo much work on today, really going to struggle to find my focus.
Hope everyone is well.
Oh, HelenD, sorry CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!0 -
It's quiet on here this morning...which is typical because I have baby brain and can't concentrate at work
SB - I reckon I must have a girl if they fry your brain the most - I have been awful!
I don't get weekly emails from mothercare but I do love my babycentre ones (as does my hubby) last week it told me that baby would react to light if I shone a torch on my belly. I told DSS about this at the weekend and he proceeded to 'tease' the baby shining a torch on different parts of my belly and laughing his head off for about half an hour :rotfl:
I have told him that baby will get it's own back soon enough when he won't leave big brother alone for a second!!
AF - my sleeping has been disturbed for ages now, I am just about getting used to it.
Keely - we will be thinking of you. I am looking forward to your report on how wonderful they are at new cross!!
Edited to ask - are the january sales any good for getting the big baby items? (buggy, cot etc)please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
