It all depends how involved you'd like him to be, how much support you personally need/want etc. Ive had my husand there at every appointment, for several reasons ie to help keep me calm for my bp check ups (white coat thingy etc) and it helps to keep him involved and feel a part of it-seeing as we do the carrying for 9 months. He's wanted to come as well, i didnt make him. My sister has offered to come along sometimes, but he wont let her lol-he says he's coming (but is polite of course, not rude).Mommy to Elliot (5) and Lewis (born xmas eve 11!)0

Afternoon all.
Ventured out of the house today as had a feeling of energy... that didnt last long though as now I'm knackered!
However did go to Asda to pick up my bounty pack as Boots apparently didnt have any, but yet Asda had hundreds.
So gonna root through that and see what goodies I've got.
My appetite is also on the increase now as well, constantly starving... just need to make sure I eat well!
Scan on thursday after minature panic earlier on will be glad to get it done just to see baby is ok...... Mum has already offered me as much money as we need to get a second copy of the pic for her, bless.
Does anyone know what kind of "donation" is acceptable for your pics?Wealth is not measured by currency0 -

We don't get Bounty packsjust Emma's diary ones (which I must pick up!) and you can't get a voucher other than thru the MW or by visiting a store apparently. I was looking forward ot getting freebies:p
We put £5 in and will probably do the same at the next one, but noone presed us for it e had to ask where to give the donation to26.2.19/14.1.19: T MC 3629.26/3629.26 : VM 0% 1050/13876.59 : W 0% 100/1485 = 4409.26/18990.85 =25.17%28.1.19/28.1.19 Hubs 0% £400/£2,977 =13.44%SPC 2019 #073

Welcome back, MFD! Hope you had a wonderful time x
I learnt my lesson from my first preg - cut out the Dr and go straight to the MW! You get on the system quicker as all the Dr does is refer you and, in all honesty, it was a huge letdown! I expexed the Dr to do all kinds of checks and confirm the preg but nope, he just took my word for it!
DH, as I've mentioned before, has been to every single appointment with me when I was preg with Poppy and continues to do so now. He really wants to be a part of everything and luckily he is able to do so.
My booking in's have always been combined - both scan and bloods, history, etc, taken on the same day at the antenatal unit around 12w. Previously to that I have seen a MW at my Dr's surgery for a chat and be put on the system.
CAFC, we are offered the two scan pics free of charge and charged £1 for each thereafter. They also supply cute little card frames to put them in! I think I was allowed up to 10!!! We always get two for us and one for each set of grandparents.
ETA: At my scanning unit there is a machine to put £1's in for tokens which are then given in at reception in return for your scan pics.

Hi all,
Welcome to the newbies and congratulations.
For those that have had their scans and have pictures, what are you doing with them? Mine are on that really thin scanning paper.
I have scanned them onto my pc, but can only do so as a TIFF file and note JPG.
Are you able to laminate the ones that the hospital give you or does that destroy them?
I'd love to be able to print the TIFF ones out at like a photo counter but not sure if this can be done.
Any thoughts??0 -
Okay - I am kind of up to speed...have read everything through jet-lagged eyes (and contacts that have been in for 20+ hours  )
r.mac - :A I missed you tooall of you!
Baby Monitor recommended by Which is the BT 100 @ £50, closely followed by the BT 150 @ £70 (the more expensive one didn't do as well in the test interestingly enough).
They also tested baby-gates with the Lindam Easy Fit Alarm (£25) coming in top, followed by the BabyDan Flexi Fit Metal (£25). However, my advice is to find one that you can open- after 5 1/2 years of trying I still have to get my brother or his wife to let me out of their living room...I can't open their gate with 2 hands, never mind with 1!
Lucifa73 - I am 15 weeks today and for the first time for many years my tummy sticks out further than my boobs!
Fritha - you make me laugh so much...scans say girl, you still think boy :rotfl:
AF - so pleased that your scan went well - it is fantastic isn't it!
SLScarborough - nobody has actually touched me yet (15 weeks) even at the scan the scanner touched me but the sonographer didn't actually lay a finger on me...I was expecting lots of feeling of tummy and looking at my ladybits but nothing! Going to the midwife soon so may demand some actual touching so I feel I am getting my moneys worth
CAFCGirl - I have had much more discharge since becoming pg...lots more during s e x too (TMI??? read on!!)
I know I have missed stuff but glad to hear everyone is well - welcome to the newly baking and love to everyone
Hols were fab - I went away a slightly plumper version of me and came back a pregnant ladybirdI am finding my new shape a little strange and am finding myself doing lots of rubbing pregnant tummy type actions as if to explain to the world that I am not just fat
Flying was fine, although Bubba is just like his mum in that he doesn't like coming in to land (nearly vomitted on the way out and on the way back).
Bubba is now officially being called a 'he' until we find out officially at the 20 week scan - I just can't bring myself to say 'it' and I am too lazy to keep saying 'he or she' :rotfl:
I am no longer feeling sick and my hunger has died down too...making the saturday night dash to the supermarket to buy 24 breakfast bars to take with us pretty pointless!
I am afraid I have to admit to breaking just about every pregnancy rule whilst we were away. I did have a few drinks (mainly just the odd bottle of bud that got passed to hubby about a quarter of the way down) not every day by any means (probably about 5 or 6 over the 2 weeks) and I think 3 bottles of bud in a day was my worst day. Not clever I know but for the first time since getting caught I actually fancied a drink.
I also had not well done steak, prawns, 2 'over easy' eggs (ie runny) and cheesecake  all I needed was some pate and stilton and I would have the full set.
Can someone else please confess to some sins now please
OMG - sorry, this is turning into an epic! Just one other thing...(TMI alert)
I am SO hornyafter the first 13 weeks of me being too tired to even THINK about s e x I have suddenly found a drive which is almost as high as when we were TTC
I know it was supposed to be our last couples holiday but.....words fail me (respectable ones do anyway!)
I'll shut up nowplease listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
Copies of scan pics are £4 each at our hospital, we used our scanner at home to get copies for relatives etc. Its such a rip off for one photo! They know you want a copy, and wont say no!

they are £3.50each at our hospital! last time it was £3 for 3 and that was only 2 1/2 years ago!
who ever asked earlier no you can't laminate them as they are printed on heat sensitive paper and the laminater makes the paper go black.0 -

I rang the docs today to make an appointment, The receptionist told me I might be better speaking to the midwife in a different building. I spoke to her and she said she will make me an appointment at about 8 weeks time (I go on holiday 12th Oct and she said she will book me in before then) and it will take about an hour.
Both the receptionist and the midwife said I don't need to bother making a docs appointment. Just take folic acid and wait for the midwife appointment.
Is this normal? Would have thought I would need to see doc, not to confirm, but to get it on my medical records in case anything goes wrong in the meantime.
YAAAAY another due buddy
My booking in appointment is the 14/10 - so looking forward to thatDH is coming along - no stopping him! LOL
