Re. scan pics its really ironic but i got one for free when i had a miscarriage but the 'donation' for live pregnancies is compulsory £3.
OR you could have a large baby like DS1 who was off the top of the growth centile for height, so they did extra scans, and used a picture of his leg bone in a lecture because it was so clear!Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:
I have done reading too!

Baby Monitor recommended by Which is the BT 100 @ £50, closely followed by the BT 150 @ £70 (the more expensive one didn't do as well in the test interestingly enough).
Thanks for that - will have a look
Hols were fab - I went away a slightly plumper version of me and came back a pregnant ladybirdI am finding my new shape a little strange and am finding myself doing lots of rubbing pregnant tummy type actions as if to explain to the world that I am not just fat
the saturday night dash to the supermarket to buy 24 breakfast bars to take with us pretty pointless!
I'm exactly the same. I'm rubbing my tummy and doing the hand ont eh lower back thing so that people realise I'm pregnant and not getting fat!!! I don't think I appreciated my slim build when I had it!
Re: scan pictures, our hospital scanning unit had a little sign asking for those who could afford it to put in £1 per picture. I have read that you can't laminate them as the heat ruins the picture, although the paper on our private scan would be ok as it seems to be of higher quality, but the NHS one isn't as clear and I can see why heat might destroy it. I wouldn't risk it unless you were 100% sure.r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
On appointments, my husband's only come along to my scans as he's self-employed so it's just not feasible. Plus they're normally pretty quick so I'm not sure he'd get much from going to them. I don't think partners need to be there for the booking in unless you particularly want them to go.
Our hospital have a machine to get a token for scan pictures when you put in £2. Both times we've been given 2 different pictures for that. Definitely don't laminate them though as they won't survive that. Even on the private scan we had it was the same kind of shiny paper and they had warnings up about not scanning.0 -
We got the first scan pic for free and were allowed to buy an extra 5 at £1 each. Cant believe some people are getting asked for £3.50 each!

They do need info on the fathers medical history though don't they. Thinking back I could probably have answered most of the questions but not the ones about his mothers history of pregnancy...
We paid £4 each for 3 pics of our scan (1 for us and 1 for each grandmother) at the same hospital as Keely...when we took them apart they had actually given us 4.
One of my friends said that the MSE way was to not have any change with you on the day (the machine takes pound coins)...they wouldn't refuse to give you a pic now would they!please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -

Yes, but that section of the notes she just told me to take away with me and complete myself (including the bits about my family too I think - I seem to remember discussing it with the midwife at my next appointment at 16 weeks). I think even if he had been there he wouldn't have been very informative on family medical history as he had to ask his mum before he could tell me!0 -
my nipples did that at about 4wks and have yet to 'relax' again :rotfl: Let us know how you get on. I've used bravissimo lots in teh past for normal bras, but don't ahve a shop nearby for a maternity/nursing bra fitting, so if you have a good experience will trya nd pencil a trip to one
My nipples have been sticky-outie since i was pregnant with DS................................................................................1997!!
If i don't wear a padded type t-shirt bra - i get sick of people asking me if i'm cold!!
I thought everyones did - not just me :beer:0 -

It really must depend on which area you are in as all my notes from booking in were first entered on computer and then printed out and put in my file. The only written notes are those from my antenatal appointments thereafter.
I think its all personal preference on whether DH's go with to appointments. Mine wouldn't have missed any for the worldand I guess we're lucky that he can. One of my friends lied and told her DH that they didn't allow partners as she had previously had an abortion that she wanted to keep secret.

Scan pictures. i just took pictures of mine with my camera and printed them off that way. Our hospital charges £5 for 2 photos, sooooo expensive but well worth it!Mum to 2 beautiful daughters born Oct 05 & Oct 08
It doesn't cost anything to smile!:hello: :starmod: :starmod: :starmod: :starmod::starmod:0 -
Our hospital requests a £2.00 donation no matter how many scan pictures you get - got 2 pics at 12 weeks scan and 5 pics at 20 weeks scan with DS2. Thought that was great as with DS1 they didnt do a dating scan back then so only got 1 pic at 20 weeks!! That was 14 years ago though!!
I have my booking in appointment tomorrow and really looking forward to it.0
