So are there a lot of appointments then? So far I've had a pre booking appointment and a 12 week scan and I've got dates for a 20 week scan and for 22weeks with MW but at doctor's surgery rather than maternity wing of hospital. No idea what happens after that:confused: do checks become more regular? Or do you get left to carry on so long as nothing happens?

Ive had what seems like loads of appointments and got a few booked in still

    So far ive had

8 weeks booking in at midwife. Bloods taken for first time and she did a rubbish job of it too as theres still a mark on my arm.
12 weeks Scan at hospital and appointment with midwife there too
16 weeks midwife. Think I got bloods taken at this one too but not sure. Might have been the ones for the screening tests.
    20 weeks scan at hospital
24 weeks midwife. I heard the hearbeat for the first time at this one. Midwife had a feel of bump to see how things were.
28 weeks midwife. Heard heartbeat again and got bloods taken. Another poke about at bump and they measured it too.

    And booked are
32, 34 and 36 weeks midwife. Getting bloods done again at 36.
    38 GP
    40 Midwife

Although Ive just noticed that at my last appointment she wrote I was 28 weeks when I was only 27 so ive booked appointments for 31, 33 weeks etc so hopefully thats ok.

Hubby came to first appointment and both scans but none of the rest. He works 30 miles away from where we live. I can work from home so easy for me to get time for appointments but not so easy for hubby.

    Hi All

Thanks for advice. I did call MW and explained the blood etc. She asked if there had been any more and I told her no it was literally one strand and thats it. asked about cramps etc, but she told me not to worry and just keep an eye and if anything changes to call back, and if I want to go in, theyre happy for me to, even if its just to help to calm me down.
I did say after I'd spoken to her I felt a bit calmer was just the initial seeing it that sent me a bit loopy.
So feel a lot happier now, nothing else has happened since then, and MW was really nice. Like was said before u dont want to seem a bother if its nothing but then you dont know, and theyre the best people to advise so Im glad I got over that very British idea of not wanting to be a bother!

    Thanks for the messages...

Thanks for calling! The rest of us can relax now too!:D

I had a little bit more blood (like start of period) but no pain. I went up (partly to calm Hubbles too who freaked almost more than I did as I was fairly relaxed after MW didn't seem phased) and got to hear the heartbeat which was amazing if a little surreal. I could have pressed for a scan but didn't want to be cheeky as they wer quite busy:p

So far I've had booking in with the midwife at 9 weeks
    Scan at 13 weeks
    Midwife at 17 weeks
Scan at 21 weeks plus consultant appointment (but only as I'd been put down as consultant led and they then discharged me back to midwives)
    Midwife at 23 weeks
    Midwife at 27 weeks
    GP at 29 weeks
    Midwife at 33 weeks

I'm due to see midwife again at 36 weeks and I think I see the GP again at about 37. Then I think you see the midwife weekly once you get to 39 weeks. That's all been with a straightforward pregnancy, I think there would be more if there were any issues.

    Thanks all.
I think I was pretty ok, and relatively calm but if it had got worse and i hadnt called, the guilt would have killed me i think....

crisis averted, cups of tea all round i think :)

    hi all,

CAFCGirl, just caught up on your posts. Glad you phoned the MW and she has put you at ease.

I let all of work know the day before yesterday that I am expecting and everyone has been so kind. Even people who I dont know from our main office has sent me really kind messages.

Cat is well and truely out of the bag for us now. I have emailed all my friends back home and told them too.

But still after 12 week scan, telling work, feeling rubbish still, I still wonder if it is ACTUALLY happening or have i made all of this up???

  • I am getting really nervous now as I have my early scan on Sunday. I told my mum on Wednesday that I am expecting as I couldnt keep it from her any longer and wanted to talk to someone really. I am petrified that the blighted ovum I had earlier this year is going to happen again. I also told my boss today as have my booking in appointment on Tuesday.

Other than my 13 year old we havent told anyone else yet though. May tell MIL on Sunday assuming scan is ok.
