Well i'm off to see the consultant again this afternoon, to keep a check on my blood pressure and meds for that etc.

In a way it seems not far away but then it does and i panick lol.... will be a mom soon!

When are others going to get their's and babys bags packed ready for the hospital? im going to start sorting that out soon, as i like to be well prepared.

    keely.

I've started getting mine and baby's bags together today. I'm 36 wks 3 days. My friends think I am mad leaving things this long but I'm so relaxed about everything. Really can't believe I'm so chilled - totally the opposite to how I normally react to things! :D

Congrats to Mrs Pepperpot and growingafamily!! :D And welcome to all the newly pregnant ladies! :D

3onitsway, I would say that is no friend to worry the sh!te out of you like that. She deserves a smack aside the head for that one. Sorry if that sounds a bit harsh. I have a uterine infection at the mo, but hopefully will clear up swiftly with the antibiotics I am on. It just comes under the joys of pregnancy and motherhood. :rolf

*falls about laughing* I keep reading the lists of stuff you're sposed to need and it rather makes me think a suitcase is more apt!

Anyway, I have no clue where I picked this tip up (and I apologise if it ruins your carefulyl packed hospital suitcase) but I'm planning on packing a labour bag and then a bag if I have to stay in longer (which can stay in the car or somewhere until it's needed) I'm kidding myself that will mean one small bag and one larger bag but I rather think it may end up being two suitcases! lol Well, it's difficult to pack light when there's three of you and you don't know what the weather's going to be like, as it were! :-)

I sort of did this too - was worried DH wouldn't have a clue about what clothes to bring me in case I had to stay in longer so I packed another bag which I left at home (luckily we only live 10 mins from hospital!) with extra baby clothes too so I knew he wouldn't bring in a summer dress in January!

Wow - I can't believe how many babies have made an appearance since I was last on here, must be the sunshine, congrats to you all, hope you are all taking care and best wishes carol, little 'un will soon be with you x

I've been hit with a nasty tummy bug all over the weekend, poor DD started being sick on Friday night and I then seemed to carry on the trend - was pretty awful, will spare you the details but got in a right old state about the poor baby! Still managed to keep up my fluid intake and starting to eat again so hoping the worst is over. Still feeling totally drained and not looking forward to the weather heating up over the next few days! Will be doing a rain dance in Kent! :rotfl: DH has come home from work feeling rough and I feel a real meanie as I can't bring myself to go anywhere near him as I can't bear the thought of getting it again! If I had a spare room, I'd be sleeping in it! Even thought of spending the night at my mums but then felt really guilty! Fingers crossed you can't get the same bug twice?!

    Morning everyone

I am feeling particularly knackered this morning. For some reason when I wake up to go to the loo during the night, I can't get back to sleep afterwards, until 5.50am, which is 10 minutes before I have to get up! Not good!

Can't wait till I give up work and can get up when I like!

This bag for the hospital. What exactly needs to be in put in it? I have every vision of being kicked out of the hospital after 2 hours, but I do know they don't provide anything for the baby at the hospital I am going to.

    Nightdress
    Dressing gown
    Maternity sanitary towels
    Babygros
    Nappy
    Formula

    What else do I need?
Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010
    Mortgages (End 2017) - £180,235.03
    (End 2021) - £131,215.25 DID IT!!!

If you are going to bottle feed-you wont need to take bottles or formula into hospital with you, when i went to my hopsital tour they told us they provide this for you. Although id double check, as some hopsitals provide nappies as well but mine doesnt. They provide cotton balls/baby bath etc in there too.

There's quite a few little things to take, but im going to try and keep things to a minimum if possible. We arent allowed to keep our bags with us either ie under bed or anything, for health and safety, my husband will take the bag home and then bring it back when im going home again.

Remember things like shampoo/soap to shower with afterwards, things to freshen you up. Plenty of clean knickers/nighties in case you do stay in longer then expected and cuz of the bleeding etc.

The hospital im going to say the minimum time is two hours before you can go in normal non complicated births, but you'd be mad to do that. They encourage you to stay at least over night and until you are ready.

Bbaby wise the obvious nappies, a hat and something to go home in, baby seat when you do go home, vests/sleep suits etc. Im taking a blanket in too, to wrap baby up in on way home.

There's lists in Emma's diary, on various websites, books etc ive not listed everything. I was amazed what things i will need to pack!

    keely.

ps ive got another scan booked in for just over two weeks time, my review with the consultant went well, although took a while to listen to heartbeat as 'p' kept moving! x

  • Wow I am surprised the hospital provides formula. Most places seem to be going for baby friendly and so formula is out.

Hope everyone is doing well, personally I would be doing better if the 4 year old stopped waking up at 5.25 every morning

My hospital certainly did. They had all the major brands and they come ready made in little bottles and there is also a varity of teats to choose from. The bottles and teats are disposed of after every feed and sterile ones opened for the next.

Although the MW's try and sway you into BFing, some women don't/can't so there would be alot of squalking starving hungry newborns on the delivery suite :D.

Your 4yo is getting you prepared for the new baby! :rotfl:

Glad its not just the hospital im going to then lol. my sister told me about the bottles and how you use once then throw away etc. so i double checked when i had the tour, as she went to a different hospital :o

They cant try and force me into b-feeding because of my bp meds, id happily give it a go otherwise.
