Eeeek! Thanks Keely! I just dug out the book and it says to book well in advance sometime after 24 weeks for the hospital ones. (So, I'll give them a call and smile nicely at the them down the phone!) The non-hospital ones are smaller so my midwife wouldn't let me book in advance, she just kept telling me not to worry and to just turn up at them when I got to 30 weeks!
its all too confusing for me!
I'm booked in at the nursery down the road (which im hoping my little one will eventually go to!)-i was told they book up quick. So i was in a panick! I had to leave a message on the answer machine at the hospital and they get back to you and book you in! Nothings simple! One number for all placements-and when they rang back i was out.....luckily gave them my OHs mobile number.
They let me book a breastfeeding one at the hospital though-although will probably leave this one out now.

Fritha, do you have a Sure Start Centre local to you? Mine ran the classes I attended last year which meant I didn't have to trek to the hospital every week! I was around 17w when I attended mine so they are alot more flexible. They also ran antenatal yoga and aquanatal classes too!0

It confuses me as well if that helps!
Fwiw, don't feel bad about having to bottle feed the baby. I keep getting told a healthy mum is a healthy baby and since you need your meds to be healthy it'll be the best thing for both of you. It's just gutting when you find you can't do something that you did want to do thoughComping, freebieing and trying to pay the mortgage off early!0 -
SB, I'm all registered up at the surestart centre :-) I actually went for yoga there this morning!
It's bizarre where we are as we're actually outside the boundries for the hospital. They offer classes at the hospital in the evening, but then the community midwife lady runs classes during the day as well just down the road from us. I plan to just go to all of them (and drag DH tot he evening ones)! Not that I'm nervous or anything and figure forewarned is forearmed! ;-)
edit: Sorry SB, I forgot my manners there, thanks for the advice, always good to chekc these things! :-)Comping, freebieing and trying to pay the mortgage off early!0 -
Eek! I didn't know anything like what you all said re antenatal classes. I was just going to turn up to my 25 week midwife appointment and ask her about it as she didn't really give me much info at my booking in appointment.
She did give me loads of leaflets and stuff though, but it was a bit much to take in at much. Maybe I should have a looksie at them. I'm 22 weeks now, and going on holiday tomorrow, so maybe I need to get a wriggle on!
Are hospital ones free? I'm not sure how to find out about them now. Ring the midwife maybe? Is that the done thing? Or wait till I have my 25 week appointment and ask then?Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

TBH I only ever attended antenatal classes for my first baby, didn't bother with the other 3, but I may well go for this one. I did not find it very good for information and help, but it was useful for contacts - and thats very very important when you are stuck at home with baby. Treat it as a social and you'll get more out of it!
I say that, because as a first time Mum, your biggest question is always "but how will I know when labour starts" and the best answer you get is "because you just will" and its really difficult to accept that answer until labour starts and then you really really do just know...... And because your most important question does not have a cast iron answer, it just felt a bit weird to me - "well, if the midwife can;t answer that question properly, what about the other stuff then???"!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
ive never had any kind of antental classes so couldnt comment on them tbh.
well this baby is determined to give us the run around was again in hospital yesterday contractions went to 1 every 3 minutes and then stopped lol.he makes like hes coming hurts like heck then decides against it hes all engaged and ready to go but no joy nvm.

I mainly wanted to go to the classes to prepare my husband, as well as myself. Im sure he doesnt believe some things i tell him-until he is told by the midwife or reads in a book lol. I worry he wont cope well seeing me in pain etc-so i need him to prepare too.
The NHS ones are free.

Hi, :j
Am I too late to join this club? Have been working up until now and didn't really have much time except for the odd post.
I am due to have a section on 17th July so 4 weeks today!!!!
Really emotional at the moment and horribly uncomfortable - is making me feel better reading posts by people who know how it feels to be a fat whale!!!:rolleyes:Tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet...0 -
aww ur never to late to join mrs pepper pot.defiantly know how u feel im now 38 weeks and 1 whole day lol.i have a small bum under my ribs and a head pressing in places it should not be pressing in lol.uncomfy is an understatement as my midwife kindly put much to mine and my partners horror "your just an incubator now" her words not mine.she finally had a look at my borth plan said it was really good and asked what internet site i got it from you really do get treated differently if its ur 3rd baby.
i had a great nights sleep last night only woke evry hour to go loo and fell straight back sleep everytime(comes to something when thats a great nights sleep though).
we decided against going to an appt today to discuss and induction as i really dont want to be on the labour ward i want to be on cmu where il have my own room own tv on stereo on dvd player can walk around and everything more importantly my husband can stay with me all the way through on the labour ward he wouldnt be able to.riley john born june 28th 2.35pm-8lb14.5 hour labour from waters to birth.0
