u can get implantation bleeds which can be like spotting alot of ppl get that.u can carry on as normal to a certain degree but u should also be taking it easy if u have had a bleed.
try to explain to your oh that although bleeding doesnt mean theres something wrong in all cases it can be something worse so u need to rest just to make sure.
sadly no one can say what will happen when theres spotting of any kind id try not to worry and try not to over exert yourself thats all the help i can give u sorry xxx

lday, I had implantation bleeding with Poppy during the time when my period would have been due (sorry if TMI but it was a darker colour - I'm sure bright red is a cause for alarm). Definately take it easy and tell OH that you need to put your feet up! Contact your MW again if you are still concerned and she may be able to arrange an early scan for you.

    Hope everything goes well xxx

If you have any pain particularly in on side- phone the midwife/nhs direct.
Otherwise, it's prob. implantation bleeding. Try not to worry too much.

Re the spotting. I panicked when this happened to me. I had never heard of implantation bleeding before. Mine was very light, more like smudging, but the doctor still sent me for an early scan. Mine was also when I was about 5 weeks pregnant and lasted for a few days. Do your best not to worry (I know this is hard, I kept dashing to the toilet to check my knickers!) I'm now 20 weeks pregnant, so all is well.

My worry for today is the birth. I know this is a common fear, but I woke up at 2am this morning and just started thinking about it. My fear is mainly about tearing and I'm petrified of it happening to me. Does rubbing vaseline and stretching it gently now really work? If it does, I'll religiously do it every day from now on! :o

polly-i dont think it defiantly prevents a tear but it can help.i tore with my first it wasnt as bad as some people make out tbh it hurt after more stung than anything and was just uncomfy for a few days.if u listen to what the midwife tells u in labour then u may not tear it usually happens when the baby comes through a bit quickly at the end but the midwife will guide and support you and tell you when to push and when to stop pushing to minimise the risk of a tear.
try not to worry as getting worked up about it wont help at all(easier said than done).i kind of think to my self that if it happens it happens and if it doesnt it doesnt so i dont stress.

honey - thanks for the advice - MW has mentioned having an elective a couple of weeks early as she doesn't reckon I'll make it to full term at this rate! Braxton hicks aren't helping my standing up situation either!! Can't use my tummy muscles to help me stay upright!! Ah well...I like a challenge

lday - on the spotting issue - I have always been advised that for the first 12 weeks, you should make sure you take things easy and not do too much excersise etc expecially if you have any pain, as this is the time that the baby is doing much of its implantation - so make sure your OH makes you put your feet up!

And September makes a good point - you can try and get an early scan (depends on your areas set up I think) but I had one at 6 weeks just because I had cramps down one side and they wanted to make sure all was OK - definitely puts your mind at rest!
Baby due on 7th August - eep! :j

Hello - please can I join in?

I found out a few weeks ago that I'm pregnant and DH and I are very excited! This is our first and although we are trying to keep it under wraps for the moment, I needed to tell someone and thought mse was the perfect place!!!

Have a couple of books and DH has been brilliant. Suffering from ms (or all day sickness) so much I'm at home with my feet up. just trying to eat enough to stop me from keeling over. Also completely knackered the whole time!!!

Used to be a nanny with babies from 3 wks up to 5 years, so not too worried about after the birth baby wise, as can do nappies, feeding etc with my eyes closed (thought I do know it's different when it's your own!) but completely terrified of everything in between :D

carol- braxton hicks are basically mild contractions u feel ur tummy tightening i can actually see mine eventually they turn into real contractions but the mild ones are just the pratice ones.they are uncomfy more than painful tbh.also discharge does increase around 30 ish weeks but gets alot heavier around 35 weeks.

    congrats r.mac xxx

    Hi guys,
Been out shopping today for a travel system (just pricing things up at the moment). I was going to have a Quinny but the lady in the shop told me that i'd just be paying for the name. I liked the Petite Star Solar a lot as it was nice and light and I liked the price too!! £190 including car seat, cot, footmuff and raincover. Has anyone else got one or had any experience of one?
Is it too soon for me to start buying things? I'm 16 weeks.
    xx

    Hi lwcus

I am 14 weeks now and have had a little look at travel systems and to be honest I have no idea. Have looked at the Quinny as well but don't know if the pushchair part looked too comfortable. The price of the other one sounds really good! I am looking but won't be buying anything for a while just trying to price things up and save up enough for everything!

Has your sickness worn off yet? I am still having the sickness, and now really bad headaches as well! Have had to have a days off work and feel really guilty about it which I know is silly!

Congratulations to all those getting their BFP's!

Honeybe21 hope the wedding goes beautifully!
    xx
