Sounds like it could be a show but I'd recommend calling your midwife or the hospital to get their opinion, they may want you to go in and get checked out as you're 6 weeks off your due date.

  • Hi all.
Just found out today that I am pregnant with my second child. What a day its been!!! Still haven't taken it in hence the reason I'm up at this time typing! I think its more scary this time round - you know what to expect!! Sorry new mums!!! Someone was asking about the Quinny Buzz, well I had one for my DD and am planning on using it again this time, I love it, its fab!! Its not too good for getting on the bus but if youve got a car with a big boot its fine. I am totally addicted to Quinny and have just bought a zapp too. Now thats where all my money has gone.
It was so weird today, I was just about to list a load of baby stuff on e-bay and I thought ooh I feel weird, I'll do a pregnancy test and it was positive so that was good timing!
I had a terrible time of it during labour last time and I'm so worried I won't be able to enjoy this pregnancy. Has anyone been in touch with the NCT to help with a more natural approach? They induced me last time and I had major problems, I'm convinced that DD was just not ready to come out.

when did you all tell the important people in your lives????

We told important people after a few weeks, working on the principal that if anything did happen we would have told them anyway. I was really sick as well so it did make it difficult to hide. We told my parents just before 7 weeks and my sister knew straight away. We then told a friend each and OH parents and sister at 9 weeks as they live further away and this was the first time we could see them.

Congratulations happymoneysaver, hope everything goes well. Maybe the midwives and doctors will listen to you more because of what happened the last time!

    Hey all,
Well hopefully I'll be off the list soon. I've been having contractions since about 6pm last night. They've been about 8-10 minutes apart since 11pm so I'm not going into hospital yet but hopefully soon they'll get closer together and then I can go in and get it all over with and finally have a baby! :j

Anyone got any helpful hints to relieve the pain of contractions aside from paracetamol & a hot bath? And any suggestions on good stuff to eat?

    Cheers

  • Have you got a birthing ball because I found rocking on that quite helpfull - until you can get into hospital and get something stronger. I didnt really feel like eating because I suppose I was worried about having to have a GA but I did take energy bars in with me to keep me going. I maybe wouldn't have anything too heavy.
Good luck, I hope it all goes smoothly xx

With my first preg we told everyone as soon as we found out. Everyone was so delighted as it was the first preg in my family for 18 years and would be the first grandchild on both sides. Unfortunately, I miscarried at 10w and I was devastated but it was made much worse by feeling I had let down all my family who were so very excited. I know this was irrational but those hormones do weird things!

When I was preg with Poppy we went straight around to my parents house after my scan at 9+5w to share the news. However, those weeks were the longest in my life! I was sick as a pig most of the time and my family said later that I deserved an Oscar for keeping it all a secret!

I'm now 12w preg and no one, except DH, suspects a thing (I hope!). I have my first scan next Friday so hopefully I will have fantastic news to share with them soon, but certainly not before.

good luck clarkey my only suggestion is what ur doing and some sleep easier said than done but i can sleep through anything, bananas are good for energy toast aswell will help if u feel sick.

re-show i had 2 shows early on all they did was do a smear type test to see if u have an infection apprently (i never knew this) the mucus plug (show) rejuvinates on its on for some people which seems to have happened to me this time around.im now 36 weeks and i was 4/5 engaged when i saw the midwife wednesday and since our wedding thursday ive felt him drop down so hoping it wont be long at all now.

hope evryone else is well xx

Hi honey! Congratulations! How did your wedding go? Everything go according to plan?!

Good luck with your scan September - I have my fingers crossed for you :)

You will have to let us know how it all went Clarkey (although I am assuming that you are not reading the forum now, but concentrating on other things!!)

All groovy here - though work is getting to be a pain now - no sympathy at all from them - expect me to work all hours, although I'm already full time, so this means staying till about 6.30 each night even though I'm 32 weeks and on crutches, but hey ho!! Can't wait for mat leave now :T Luckily OH is brilliant and keeps my spirits up with plenty of hugs and cups of tea
Baby due on 7th August - eep! :j
