MSE pregnancy club II

rjh - it actually sounds as if you didn't have that bad a time of it - makes a nice change from the horror stories you hear. I am currently 18 weeks and obviously not looking forward to the labour and giving birth part as I have no idea what to expect. Am going to do my best to avoid stitches though!

I've started feeling "rippling" and "twitches" in my lower belly, but there was nothing yesterday which made me worry a bit. But at the moment, they are quite faint and I have to concentrate on them, so hopefully everything is fine.

Haven't actually bought very much yet. Gonna stick to all white clothes me thinks even though I am planning on finding out what it is. Apparently babies throw up a lot and their clothes need a lot of washing, so I might as well stick to white clothes and bung them all in together.

Started reading The New Contented Baby book which has me all a bit confused as I don't have the first clue as to what to do with a baby! :eek:

rjh-i found the stitches with my first were more painful than the birth i vivadly remember my mum having to hold my legs up so i could be stitched as the gas and air had left me convinced i was a dog a doberman at that on the vets table with a tube down its throat i remember growling and barking i didnt even get to use gas and air with the second and no tears so hoping the same with this one.

polly-your right babies throw up and poo so much white can be boil washed so comes cleaner but a little tip they dont stay little for long so remember to buy a good mix of newborn 0-3 and 3-6 because some newborn stuff is to small to fit some newborns and some babies grow really really quickly.dont worry to much about what books say some of the advice is useful and some ul find u dont even need or cant get to grips with u will find your own way of doing everything with your baby and some people will agree with you and some disagree so long as ur happy and baby is happy i wouldnt worry to much.

carol-not long now till camping and it looks like nice weather where we are so i hope u get some lovely weather.

keely-glad ur scan went ok ur 20 week they really do tend to concentrate just on the baby we were lucky we got a nice sonographer who tried to get us a good pic which were glad for as we cudnt get one this time.

jak-dont worry about crying i burst into uncontrolable tears with my midwife not so long ago they are used to it.just be honest with ur consultant and tell her u dont feel like talking about the eptopic though i think she may have to ask certain things for medical reasons.try talking to your other half or even buy him a baby book ment for dads to help him understand your moods.there are some brilliant ones about now but cant think off one of hand grrr.

Hi honeybe21-this wasnt my 20 weeks scan, this was another one at almost 23 weeks to check on blood flow/circulation etc due to my high bp and meds etc. The lady at the 20 week scan got us two fantastic photos so i cant complain! The consultant just seemed too quiet and not bothered-think its just the way he is though lol.

ah right so i guess ul have to keep having regular scans and check ups so ul see ur baby alot more than most do.they cant make up thier mind what to do with me lol ive had 3 but they cant decide why ive had 3 wether its my daughters illness or the fact im apprently underweight either way i dont care got to see him 3 times instead of 2 lol.good luck with urs xx

My little girl is now 3 months but I am still lurking. Just wanted to say, don't buy much at all, we bought 7 vests, 3 babygros and a little suit with 2 tousers and tops. The rest of her clothes were given to her as gifts and hand me downs, there were so many of them that some were barely worn, I am feeling really sad as we are now putting clothes away because she is growing so fast.

Wow, congrats on all the new babies! I haven't been finding it easy getting on line but am still lurking, so hi to everybody!

Annabeth is 15 weeks old now, and is well on the way to being double her birth weight (which was 5lb 9oz) We are doing her first swimming session tomorrow. She has been sleeping through the night on and off since nine weeks, but now appears to be teething so a bit sporadic at the mo.

In terms of clothes she has grown out of stuff very quickly, but it was worth getting things that weren't too big as her limbs got caught up and she got very distressed.

Honeybe21 - I have a padded drawstring pouch Freedom sling. Great for winter, but too hot for now, so would recommend the unpadded versions.

Good luck to everybody hoping for arrivals soon !

Thanks for that. My friend gave me a huge bag full of newborn clothes and 0-3 month clothes (her little one was born at 26 weeks, so think a lot of them may be too small) which I was sooo grateful for. Me and my mum had a great time pulling all the little things out. Because we don't know what we are having yet, my friend just took all the things that looked "girly" out of the pile. Mostly they are vests, with a couple of babygros and a couple of jackets (handy as I'm due in October). No outfits as such. (Not going to buy anything until bubba is born. What's I've got will keep me going for a while!
