I've had the SMA calendar too so here's hoping for the good stuff.
CG, that does sound like a panic attack to me - I had one recently (ish - just before I got pregnant) completely out of the blue, I was quite chilled out and just getting some dinner ready with OH and them BAM out of nowhere my heart starts going. I honestly believed it was a heart attack and that I was going to die. OH sat me down and just tried to reassure me and I was right on the verge of telling him to phone an ambulance when it began to subside. Touch wood I haven't had the slightest twinge since, it was horrible, I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. Glad you managed to have a good holiday after all that!0 -
Eels - I had accupuncture, (Chinese) for my morning sickness, had 3/4 sessions and didn't feel any better - worse if anything and lighter in the pocket department. Hope yours works.
Justie, my stretch marks are dreadful my first one arrived the day we had our 4d scan, I didn't even know what it was to start with and thought it was bruise, it son expanded and I realised what it was. DH calls them my love marks, which is quite sweet, but I still hate them.
CG - sounds scary, gald you're feeling better now, fingers crossed it doesn't happen again.
Jen, don't overdo it with the cleaning, but with any luck it might get baby moving.
Our baby has been called whoopie since the beginning as I had such horrendous wind (from both ends) I sounded like a whoopie cushion. The name has kind of stuck, hope we can decide on a real name soon though other even after he/she arrives it will be know as Whoopie.0 -
Wow. Been away from the boards for a while and it's scary to see us move up the list!
All is going well with the twins. Growing along nicely! In fact, we're starting to buy things for the nursery in preparation. This is where the reall MSE in me comes out!0 -
clothes for hospital... i wore a nightie to give birth (2 for £4 at asda) you will need bras but just use maternity bra and if you have any comfy maternity trousers take those with you, i needed lots of pairs of dark trousers as bled so much (sorry if TMI). Maternity ward will probably give you disposable knickers (you will need and wear them even if you thinkyou wont and try and sneak some in your bag totake home) also take a dressing gown with pockets this way you can use pockets to carry maternity pads to loo discreetly. In my maternity ward they encourage you to wear daytime clothes rather than being in PJ,s0

Well, despite the acupuncture baby is still definitely breech. I know deep down it isn't going to turn and I'm going to have to have a section, it's a proper gut feeling. Doesn't mean I won't hold out for a miracle at my ECV on Thursday though! I know which points the acupuncturist used though so I might just do them at home in the hope it encourages the tiddler to flip.
Really can't wait for another 3 weeks before baby though, because my discomfort levels are increasing so rapidly I'll be begging for them to remove it within a few days I think! I can't sleep on my side for any length of time now because the lower leg starts to ache, and turning over causes my pelvis to pop and creak. And pretty much any other position either leaves me feeling faint or with baby's head bashing against my ribcage which is the most unpleasant sensation.
Oh dear, this has turned into a moan - sorry! It's funny how easy it is to get started moaning at this stage of pregnancy ... :P0 -
not sure if anyone else has had or is having the same prob as me but i am finding (even tho i'm only 12 weeks) that i'm getting very very bad wind. it's that bad the dog is giving me discusting (sp) looks and i want 2 devorce me rear end lol. this seems 2 happen more in the evening and @ night and i just feel so much bigger than i should b @ this stage.
hoping this will settle down soon as i'm going on holiday in mid july and don't want 2 gas them all out lol1st son born 11/02/05 2nd son born 09/01/08
thats all i'm adding to the human race so think yourselfs lucky lol0 -
Saw the doctor on Friday and she booked me in to see the midwife on Tuesday. Why do they have such inconvenient times for appointments though?
The midwife only has appointments between 12.30 and 2.30 which is a bit awkward for me to get out of work without a plausible excuse.
I'm really dreading telling my boss though - did anyone else have problems with this? I burst into tears Fri afternoon as we were really under pressure to finish our work but she just kept on about what we needed to do to get it complete. This despite the fact that I'd said my doctor's appointment that morning flagged my blood pressure as a problem (which is my excuse for going back Tuesday).
I was there to 7.30 fri evening and have work home with me to do as it has to be ready monday morning, but I really can't face it. So I dread the reaction when I add to her list of problems! Even the topic of length of maternity leave could be dodgy as I'm hoping for 6 months (can't afford any more) but she only took 3 WEEKS!
I think I'll need to tell work sooner rather than wait for 12 weeks as I won't make it to 12 weeks if I have to keep doing such long hours.0 -

As you can see from my previous post about what we call our babies, this is something I had dreadful problems with. I found Windeze really helped, but I still have days where the wind is a bit of a problem and I'm 35 weeks now. I'm afriad it is one of the those things with pregnancy you have to accept and deal with as best you can.
Try to reduce the wind forming foods you eat (eg beans etc), drink lots of water and blame the dog if all else fails. :rotfl:Welshlassie wrote:Our baby has been called whoopie since the beginning as I had such horrendous wind (from both ends) I sounded like a whoopie cushion. Eels - you might find the following useful
http://pregnancychildbirth.suite101.com/article.cfm/turning_a_breech_baby
number 12 the cat stretch - also known as the polar bear position is supposed to be good and if you can find a chiropractor who can do the Webster technique than that's worth a go too. Comparative studies have shown that visualisation in conjunction with relaxed breathing is very successful (about 80% success rate if done with a hypnobirthing practitioner I think) so don't dismiss it as being too easy.
Anything could happen in the next few days though so don't give up hope
Slapps mine was bad too at that stage but soon got better - Windeze are your friend
dougggie - one reason to tell your boss early is to get your antenatal appointments when it suits you as work can't refuse you time off to go to them. My experience is that some women bosses can be much less helpful when it comes to things like pregnancy than men. Stand by your guns though your right is to 9 months maternity leave with an option to take a further 3 months if you wish so if you maybe suggest that's what you're planning she might then be relieved when you say you only want 6 months
Right now your health and your baby is your priority so try not to let external pressures make things worse for you. :grouphug:0 -
Thanks for the link Justie - baby's been breech for around 10 weeks now despite all sorts of shenanigans with ironing boards, cushions, music, torches, acupuncture, frozen peas, hip-swaying, bum-bobbing, inverting, stern words from dad etc etc. It's 'normous too, so not much room in there. But I will remain hopeful!0
