I have a sore throat and think that I am getting a cold.

Am I allowed to take the normal things like Beechams Cold and Flu while pregnant? Or Lemsip the hot drink?

Sorry you are feeling ropey - you can't take these. It's the decongestants that are dodgy. What you can do is take normal paracetamol, and hot water with honey and lemon in and you get the same effect. Add more honey if you have a really sore throat.

No to both of the above!! I've been giving my DP the evils every time he has had a lempsip since I've been pregnant - especially seeing as every time he gets a cold he gives it to me!!

I can echo Bun's reply - Paracetamol, and hot honey and lemon are good - as is peppermint tea with honey - the peppermint vapour acts as a safe decongestant. Sniffing Olbas Oil (and the new tissues with olbas oil already in them) are good too!

Has anyone else had a blocked up nose since becoming pregnant? ive read its common/normal, but after being blocked up since xmas im getting annoyed! People keep asking if ive got a cold!

The only hot drink i can have is hot choccy, peppermint tea used to be a fave but now i feel sick if i try to drink it.

I went through the stuffed, runny nose around week 16, and it lasted for a good few weeks.

Have you had any allergies before? Since becoming pregnant I've noticed that all of mine (hayfever and eczema related) seem to be exacerbated. Not sure if it's just my bad luck or actually a common thing though...
