Pollyanna - I can get this on my train network, maybe yours has something similar?
First Class Upgrade for Expectant Mothers
We understand it can be difficult for pregnant women travelling on our trains when there are no seats available. So, mums-to-be who are 25 weeks into their pregnancy and hold a Standard Season Ticket can apply for authorisation to sit in First Class on services covered by their ticket, if there are no seats left in Standard Class.
We offer this as a courtesy and of course cannot guarantee that seats will always be available.
To apply for this upgrade please send a copy of: your Season Ticket; your Photocard; and your Maternity Certificate (MAT B1) or Family Health Services Authority Exemption Certificate (FP92), both of which should be available from your midwife or GP, to our Customer Services Team:

Big congrats to Samantham06 on the arrival of baby Charlie. Love that name!
I have got a formal dinner coming up next month - can anyone recommend where I could look on-line for a posh frock? At the moment I've seen one in Next and it's only £40 so that's in the running at the mo. Had a quick look last night and the really nice ones are vvvvvvvvvv expensive. I'm only 13 weeks so not massive but too big to fit into any of my own dresses. Looking to spend under £70 and along the lines of an empire line dress just below the knees.
Thanks if you can help!

Wow! That sounds amazing. I didn't even know that first class still existed.
Unfortunately, the tube doesn't offer such luxuries
I have thanked a couple of people above. I think I will aim to stop working around 30 weeks. I'm not going to run myself into the ground.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

The few times I have had to go up to London for work before I started Maternity Leave, I found that saying in a loud voice "I'll just stand here and stick my heavily pregnant bump in your face then!" worked and got me a seat. Once it was a bloke that had actually pushed me out of the way to get to the seat - he was most apologetic when he realised what he had done!!
The worst was trying to get on the train in the morning in the first place - if only the wives/girlfriends of the men who pushed me out of the way to get on before me (and get the seats) could see what their men did, I'm sure there would be more courtesy from male commuters!0 -

You see, I don't think it will be just the men. People are just generally grouchy first thing in the morning.
The thing is, I can see why people mightn't want to give up their seats. First thing in the morning, I'm parp, and giving up my seat on the train (before I got pregnant) could make me faint (my own fault for not eating I guess), plus everyone's tired first thing in the morning.
We all pay for our tickets, and it weren't them who got me pregnant, so why should they give their seats up?!
But I would like to think I would give my seat up for someone who I thought genuinely needed it (I have offered my seat to a man younger than me before who was on crutches).
Oh boy, I can see it ain't going to be fun the bigger I get.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

The women weren't as bad as the men - apart from the really young ones who seem to think that trowelling on the slap made them look older!!0

Hi all. Not pregnant, just a lurker. Remembered an article I saw on the bbc the other day that might be of interest to those wanting a seat on the tube:
