One more quick question re work.

I have just asked my boss about saving up of my 4 week holiday allowance for this year to take at the start of my maternity leave. He seems okay with it, but wants to discuss it "later," i.e. he never wants to talk about these things when I want to!

My query is... I have to take a whole day off for the midwife's booking in appointment (it is slap bang in the middle of the day and I work 1 1/2 hours away from work).

I also had to take a day off for a unscheduled scan (they couldn't give me a time, so had to take the whole day off) and a half day for another scan.

Do these 2 1/2 days have to come out of my annual leave time?

Hi pollyanna,

Your employer has to give you pid time-off for antenatal care which includes your midwifes appointments (go to this website: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Employment/Employees/WorkAndFamilies/DG_10026556 ) so no worries about it coming off your annual leave. Also with my work I continue to generate and accrue annual leave even whilst I am on maternity leave :rolleyes: Hope this helps..

3KIDSNOMONEY

hi everyone, lots of newbies on the board i see, congrats to you all. Thought i would update you on things. Not sure if i said but Ben was born after about a 6 hour labour, not too bad but felt like a lifetime. I managed on the entenox which i am really pleased about. Ben is 6 days old now, things have been really tough this week. He seems to be doing well, feeding, especially all the way through the night, but everything seems ok. Finding home life really stressful - OH seems to try but then seems to do nothing at all to help. Finding the sleepless nights the worse, breastfeeding was hard but i think it is getting easier. You just forget how hard it is especially when it isn't your first child and you have places to take kids and tea to make, washing to do, etc. Anyway, trying really hard to stay positive - really don't want to head down the road that i was on (depression) and hope that a new baby can be a turning point for me.

gonna keep popping on to see if i can offer any 'words of wisdom' to others - thanks to everyone who has helped me during my pregnancy.

Really hope I've got the latest version of the list! There were nine billion copies and I'm 99% sure I caught the last one (Pollyanna's) but if anyone's fallen off, sorry about that!

Anyway, adding myself to the list, I've been lurking for absolutely ages (before I was even pregnant I must admit! ) and now I actually feel confident to join now! Had my twelve-ish week scan yesterday, very strange experience! We're both in shock that I really am pregnant and all the severe nausea, tiredness and the rest were actually caused by this little thing waving on the screen!

Hi all

Adding myself to the TTC list. Have been TTC since October and fingers crossed this will be the month. Have been totally obsessed since we decided and it is really hard because everyone around us seems to be getting pregnant and saying how it happened first time.

It is really weird as I always thought of myself as a sensible level headed person but all logic goes out the window when you want to get pregnant.

Sorry for the minor rant! Hope everything is going well for all who are pregnant and fingers crossed for all us TTC's!

Doh! I didn't realise I had to add myself to the list - hope it works.

Some good news, spotting seems to have stopped. I had got myself into a complete tizz over it, 3 weeks until first scan so am trying to keep positive until then.

ok im getting dead cross now.
i entered many comps in the last few months and had an email on the 11thmarch from raisingkids.com
well i opened it on the 12th yesterday and it said id won the mamas and papas competion.so i emailed the site to ask what it was id won as i cudnt remeber but the header said it was a pram,they replied saying the lady wasnt in the office and they wud pass my details to her.
well emailed her again today and still no reply grrrrrrrrrrr
i just want to know what ive won went through the links on the email and everything matches to the site so its not a con but they havent posted info on the comp ive won yet.soo im in limbo.
have i won a pram or not,what do i do with the other pram ive got since the pram ive won if i have won a pram will be better as mine was second hand from ebay.

Poppyjoe - good luck TTC. Try and relax...I know it's hard but as soon as I resigned myself to the fact that I was never going to get pregnant and kind of gave up I got my big fat positive!

jpwhittle - hope the scan goes well - I could have watched mine on Monday for hours, couldn't believe how much it was moving!
