Hello
My lovely little girl finally arrived yesterday at 1700 - just the 10 days overdue.
Alice was 7lb5oz and has been a delight so far. Even the birth wasn't as bad as I was expecting I managed to do it with 2 paractamol and a TENS machine - no time for gas and air as I started pushing as soon as I got to hospital.

Congratulations Cathie - very well done for doing it effectively drug less. That's magnificent.
Mandy - if I've done this right you should see my positive birth painting below. It's basically something that I've painted to look at during labour as I would have been looking at a rather uninspiring magnolia wall. Much as I love magnolia I thought that a lovely, inspiring painting of how I want the birth to go was far better. In it are my man, my mum, me (all stylised) the midwife's hands at the bottom and Ember getting ready to come out in the right position. There is also a huge amount of glitter and an energy line going down the middle made of glitter too. It was a lovely thing to do as it focussed my mind on the coming birth and it also made me quite emotional (in a good way) about the amazingness of birth and how many women do it - apparently when you are giving birth there are over 300,000 other women giving birth too. What a strength there is in that alone!
3 Kids - How are you doing? Do you feel anything getting nearer?
Keelykat - are you feeling anything?
Alison - what about you?
Dougggie - anything for you?
I'm just curious. I've been getting slight movements. The other night I had loads of energy and braxton hicks going on. I waited for a while to see if they were contractions. Once I woke up I realised that they couldn't have been! It's quite difficult to know when it's all starting and whether things are contractions or not!
I've got so much energy at the moment too. I'm sure it's my mummy hormones kicking in and getting ready. I could only sleep for 4 hours last night and it took me ages to get to sleep. Compare that with how I was at about 3 months and I was falling asleep all over the place! It has to be getting close - doesn't it? Anyhoo. I'll keep you posted. xBaby Ember

Congratulations Cathie
Miss_be - my tummy sometimes feels uncomfortable for don't know if it is due to braxton hicks.
Constipated at the moment (TMI i know!) and not sleeping very well at all. Legs are restless and i have carpal tunnel in my hands and basically can't sleep.
Loads of us due about the same time which is exciting - i'm hoping to push in front of a few of you!
Hope your BP stays down pinkprincess.now mum of 4!!!0 -
Congratulations cathie :T
Thank you miss_be for telling me what a positive birth picture is, its really really good its fantastic you have made the picture, something i would never have thought of. You should be really proud its really good and like you said something you can focus on and have as a keepsake after to be able to show baby ember when she is older.0 -
3 Kids - I wonder - does it all immediately stop once you've popped?
I've been waking up some nights with my fingers all asleep. Sometimes it's just my middle fingers. I also get hot legs, which are really annoying. I think it's something to do with the bed being covered in a shower curtain - just in case I leak (tmi!) - it makes me all hot. And doesn't it take effort to turn over? I find hoofing myself over is the only way of doing it - of course that ruffles up the shower curtain though (it is under the sheet) so that when I wake up I have shower curtain ridges all over my body.
Mandy - I got the idea from a book that is all for the idea of drawing positive stuff. I didn't think I'd actually get round to doing it but am so glad that I did. I'm not sure if it's a picture that I'd keep up in the living room once I've given birth though. It's a bit much, the idea of people coming round for a cup of tea and being confronted with my stylised hoo hoo on the wall! lol.
Happy baby vibes to anyone in need...xBaby Ember

Congratulations Cathie
I was due a c-section (DD(twin b) passed away inutero) but was heavily dilated by the time i got to hosp so ended up pushing on parcetamol too! Although i cant imagine doing it with a 7.5lb baby! Very well done
Our due date has only just passed so its nice to see everyone reaching theres with these big babies. i cant imagine being pregnant all this time, yall must be desperate to have them!
Not sure if im asking on the right forum but does anyone know about claiming DLA for an infant? Or would i be getting carers allowance or is that for something else? I gave up on the rude woman in the job centre, but was basically told i could claim once DS was 12 weeks old. I dont know if that means 12 weeks past our due date? DS has been in hosp almost 13 weeks now so do you think that would count? Is there any other benefit available for when your child is in hospital for such a substantial amount of time (90 odd days now!) ? I was travelling 80 miles per day (mainly in taxis) to be with him so ive run up debts now and im getting a lil stressed out! thanks in advance for any ideas!0 -
Congratulations Cathie x Its nice to hear such a reassuring birth story! ha ha
