Congratulations BargainAholic thats great news:j welcome to the thread
I am not sure either if you would be allowed to take it I would ask your doctor about it, its a mine field to me, when I was constipated I had a senakot hi fibre drink that seemed to do the trick, but with your suffering from constipation it may be different for you.
I cant really remember much that happened last week lol never mind inside the womb would be interesting though to find out how much they did know and understand what was going on, on the outside0 -
Hi
I need some advice. I did post my due date ages ago but its not on the list. I'm due on the 19th February so only 3 days to go.
Since yesterday evening I've had no movements what so ever. And I'm scared to ring my midwife as A) I have no idea who she is andI'm not allowed to give birth at my local hospital so who do I ring?
I feel really stupid for not knowing but I moved to Cumbria at the start of my pregnancy and everything is different. No-one tells me anything.
I mean I haven't seen a MW since I was 36 weeks is this normal?
I really feel like crying. Should I ring NHS direct?
Sorry for the long post I just have no idea what to do.
Nicci0 -
Hi Nicci - firstly don't worry yourself. It's quite natural when nearing the end of the pregnancy for the baby to not move as much as there isn't as much room in there anymore.
When you moved to Cumbria did you get a blue and white bounty pack where you keep all your pregnancy notes? In there should be a file where the midwife keeps all your info like blood pressure, presentation etc. If you have that on the front right hand corner (or somewhere on the front) it should have your midwife's name.
Also somewhere else in the pack they should have left you the contact numbers for the midwifery services in your area. It might be on a coloured bit of paper (mine's orange). You can ring the numbers on there.
If you don't have any of these things then it might be best for you to ring NHS direct as this might well calm your fears. You might also be able to get the midwifes number from your out of hours doctor's surgery number so you can call that too if needs be. That just means calling your doctor's surgery and following the instructions that they give on the answer machine.
Mostly don't worry. I'm sure everything is ok and will be ok too.
On the other points about not seeing your midwife they tend to see you every two weeks so she should have told you to book another appointment at 38 weeks. So on Monday call the surgery and explain that you haven't seen your midwife since 36 weeks and you are nearly 40 weeks. I'm sure they will try to fit you in if not DON"T TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER. At this late stage you need to be pushy and be seen by her asap as it's very important. Also write a list of everything you are unsure of so that when you see her you can get all the info you need to know. Don't be afraid to ask her everything that you need to know.
Why can't you give birth at your local hospital? Do they have an antenatal clinic there? Where are you giving birth?
Please please please don't worry. I'm sure it will all be ok. xxxBaby Ember

Hi nicci- miss_be has said everything I was going to say, I would do what miss_be has suggested, really, really try to worry i know its hard but try not to.
Have you tried having a chocolate bar and a glass of really cold water and lying on your side for half an hour to see if baby moves, midwife told me to do this if baby hadn't moved in a while.
Its unusual not to see your midwife, as miss_be said i see mine every two weeks.
Please try not to worry yourself, let us know how you get on.
Mandy x0 -
Thanks miss_be and mandy.
I can't give birth at Kendal as I had a C-section last time. So I have to go to Lancaster.
I feel they have just basically thought oh she's had a baby before so she knows what to do.
But my DS was born in Essex and there I had a small MW team of 4. All my appointments there were booked for me, I never had to book one.
I feel really unprepared even though its my second.
Oh and I didn't get a bounty pack!0 -
So you haven't been given any information about what to do in the birth or any contact numbers. Where do the midwifes write their info when you go and see them?Baby Ember

Welcome nicci985 - good advice already given - definitely ring and see if you can get an appointment next week. In the front of my maternity notes i have a list of numbers which i can ring and if you have these i would ring now. Otherwise ring NHS direct as already said. I am 38+3 and have definitely noticed a decrease in movements. As Mandy 2383 said try some chocolate or lucozade or something sugary and then perhaps have a bath as that seems to make some babies move. Definitely don't worry - which i know is easier said than done. You have obviously been let down a bit by your midwife who should have seen you before now - i think that because of this 'baby boom' we are all being neglected and seen less often. Hope it all works out for you and soon you will be holding your beautiful baby - let us know.
Hope everyone else is doing OK. I am getting really anxious now as i really want to know that my baby is well. My hospital bag is exploding out of the zip and i feel really unprepared but have given up trying to be prepared. My veins down below are becoming quite uncomfortable and i have had a bit of pelvic pain and a little bit of leaking (tmi i know) so am hoping that this is all preparation and i won't be too long before i am ready. Wondering if i will have a show or my waters break this time as i have never had this with any of my other children. My waters have always been broken for me in the hospital.
Take care everyone.
Another TMI but sneezing is not good at this stage of pregnancynow mum of 4!!!0 -
Finally remembered to add myself to the list properly.
Nicci985 - hope you are feeling a bit better and the tips have reassured you.
I am 35 weeks today - I don't know what TMI means but I thought it would also be useful to note that coughing at this stage in pregnancy is also not good - I feel like an old dear!
Found out one of my friends is pregnant today so I've finally got someone to share the experience of pregnancy with as I am the first one in my circle to fall pregnant so far.
I'm so excited!!

No sickness just constant tiredness but its all good! Though I should join here as really worried how we will cope financially and at the mo it is beginning to overshadow the good news.
