Big problems with our little boy, he is proving himself to be more and more like is Daddy already and has settled himself into the breech position and is not budging. I have been offered an ECV but they need to scan first and can't fit me in until I am 37+5. I don't see how this leaves much time for the proccedure. Also I had high lucasytes (sp???) in my last urine test and so had a sample sent off but the midwife hadn't managed to get the results back a week later!!! I am now worrying that I have a urine infection that might bring on labour early. I don't even have another appointment booked to see MW, she is fully booked. I thought I was supposed to see her once a week after 36 weeks? So annoyed at the whole thing plus she keeps on talking about c section when she knows I want a water birth. A section would be terrible for me as I have M.E and could take months to recover, I want to be able to bond with my baby not lay in bed unable to do anything. I knew my pg was going too well, something had to go wrong. I just want him to turn. I am keeping everything crossed and kneeling on mu hands and knees as much as possible.
my DD didn't actually engage until i was in labour, she wasn't even partly engaged, her head was by my hipbone. at 7cm they told me that i may need a c-section, they broke my waters and as soon as the mw did that she dropped straight down! i was clinging to the ceiling! stay positive things have a way of sorting them selves out.

I won a MAM breast pump today! From a competition posted in the MSE forums. Have been entering loads of baby oriented comps in the hope I will win something useful, so very chuffed with this!

I entered that on behalf of my daughter and she has had an e mail to say she has won one too :T

Thing is I put her address and stupidly put my postcode :doh:so I entered again and put my address and my postcode so i'm hoping it will be sent here :undecided

  • Wow you can certainly tell it is half term, it's really quite here.
I am still waiting - it's now 41 weeks - I am getting loads of braxton hicks and every now and then a strange twinge but not much else.
    Any labour vibes welcome.
  • Hi, sending you labour vibes Cathie - hope you are not waiting too long.

i have 2 weeks to go and everything seems like a struggle at the moment. Just had a bath and feel like i have done a workout - shaving legs is so hard!

Really don't want to go over due - middle of next week will do me fine. Get the kids back to school, tidy up, sort myself out and then he can come.

Not NCT sales near me at the mo - would have loved to have gone to one to get some extras as everything new is so expensive.

Hope everyone is well. Roll on Monday and back to school.
    now mum of 4!!!

    Hello everybody!
Sorry it's taken me so long to get back on - my mum has been in Monday to Wednesday to help with DS, who has been a bit hyper to say the least, so it hasn't been easy to get online. Hopefully will be about a bit more now to do the build-up to our due dates that I've missed out on!
    smallbubs1-1.jpg

Thanks for all the congratulations - I have to admit that I am very pleased that I was early, as like 3kids I had got so uncomfortable I could hardly move. Had nothing like it with ds. Annabeth is doing very well - she looks like she should have been due about that time, plump and everything - and the feeding is going well now, every four hours. She is holding her head up and actually climbed over me to feed when I was burping her the other day, so a bit of a determined little thing at a week old!

Anyway, birth story is as follows:

I may have mentioned that I had been in Asda in the morning to pick up some light bits and that my hips had gone so I had to sit in McDs for an hour. Well, stayed uncomfortable like she'd dropped a bit further, picked up my son from nursery where he had to sit on the remains of my lap on the bus as it was full, and was still sore in the evening. Had a bath as was getting some low braxton hicks, and got out at 10.30. Felt something was up but thought I hadn't had a show, so was looking out for that. Had some pink leaking and thought that was it. Didn't occur to me it was my waters as they didn't break last time round and forgot to ask anyone what they looked like. (doh)
At 11pm I went to bed but was getting some contractions, bit different from the braxtons, which were all in my back. About two hours later I thought I should time them as they seemed a bit regular. They were, every five minutes. DH was two weeks into a new job travelling up to Surrey each day so I thought I'd let him sleep for as long as possible. Got up as in too much pain at 1.30 to realise the contractions were four minutes apart, and about twenty minutes later went to every three minutes apart for a minute each time. Got DH up, who called the hospital who agreed I should come in. I caught a taxi (I could only talk in the space in contractions by this point) waving a maternity sheet at the taxi driver, scaring him to death. DH called my parents to come over (about 45 mins drive away) to look after DS while we were out. I got to the hospital at 2.15 (with the poor taxi driver asking how I would like him to drive round roundabouts, slow, fast or whatever, bless him) and was three centimetres dilated. An hour later I was fully dilated. I had loads of gas and air, and because I panicked a bit and was in so much pain (not surprising as it was going so quickly) I had a shot of pethidine. I got a text at 3 from DH saying he was on the way, but at 3.25 I was ready to push (well I didn't have much choice really as she was on the way) and he wasn't there yet. He turned up at 3.30am, and she was born at 3.44am. I couldn't believe it was that quick, and apart from not having the mucus squeezed out of her lungs as she wasn't in the birth canal very long, she was perfect. My maternity notes have the whole length of events (from established labour as 3hrs 19 minutes! We spent overnight in the hospital just to get her feeding sorted as it was great to start with and then we forgot how to position and latch, and came out on Friday evening. I didn't even really get time to use my tens machine, which I had bought having a feeling that she may turn up before it (they send them out at 37 weeks from Boots). I have discoved that you can return them unused for a refund within 28 days, so it has only cost me the p and p.

So there you go. I seemed to be about 14th on the list for ages so amazed I've overtaken everybody. I hope there is news for Cathie soon, and everybody else who is due doesn't go over either.

On a practical note, my Mosaic buggy is fab, and I am about to road test my new Coory Sling from Freedom Slings (ebay shop). I'll let you know how I get on.
Congrats on all other newly pregnants, and birth vibes to all who need them.

Ooh, and before I forget, I found Wilkinson maternity pads (a bargain 79p for 12) better than Boots etc as they are about a third longer so you don't have to wear two when sitting up. The maternity sheets I didn't use (Boots 5 for £1) have also doubled up as changing mats.
Also, the bounty pack contained sudocrem, pampers box and wipe samples, fairy powder 3 wash pack, dettol spray, but no nipple cream which apparently it used to so take some to hospital if you fancy. My midwife gave me a sample of Lansinoh, which is brilliant. There is a load of avent stuff too, but as I got my mother to be bag at the same time that may have come with that.
