Congratulations Bun x Ooh you were due the day after me - Am getting excited now, Yay x
:heart2:Mum to my little Daisy 3 and Archie 1.:heart2:
  • Congratulations Bun, love the name.
I am very jealous, I am still waiting, no signs as yet, I won't be surprised if the baby waits as long as it can and I will still be here on 20th.
  • Hi everyone,

I have been away all week again. We moved two weeks ago and atill have no phone or internet. Just popped over to my parents to use theirs. Congratulations on all the beautiful babies. I am not sure I like the story about Annabeth coming two and a half weeks early, I am not ready yet!!!

Big problems with our little boy, he is proving himself to be more and more like is Daddy already and has settled himself into the breech position and is not budging. I have been offered an ECV but they need to scan first and can't fit me in until I am 37+5. I don't see how this leaves much time for the proccedure. Also I had high lucasytes (sp???) in my last urine test and so had a sample sent off but the midwife hadn't managed to get the results back a week later!!! I am now worrying that I have a urine infection that might bring on labour early. I don't even have another appointment booked to see MW, she is fully booked. I thought I was supposed to see her once a week after 36 weeks? So annoyed at the whole thing plus she keeps on talking about c section when she knows I want a water birth. A section would be terrible for me as I have M.E and could take months to recover, I want to be able to bond with my baby not lay in bed unable to do anything. I knew my pg was going too well, something had to go wrong. I just want him to turn. I am keeping everything crossed and kneeling on mu hands and knees as much as possible.

congrats to Bun for our newest arrival! Hopefully you'll have set the ball rolling for the "not so overdue" thread instead of everyone going 2 weeks + over!

Purplegirl, try not to get worked up about your midwife (easier said than done i know) but she's probably thinking of what's safest as opposed to your personal circumstances making a csection impractical afterwards. Might help if you had someone else with you to back you up when these things get mentioned.
Apparently visualisation is just, if not more, effective at getting the baby to turn as the manual manipulation. You have to sit there relaxing and visualising your baby in the optimal position, head down, spine usually to the left as you look down. Try to see him/her moving through the motions into position. Agree with you that 37+5 is probably leaving it a bit late for manual effort to work. The other things I've heard suggested are to get down on all 4s doggy style to let gravity play its part but may be confusing that with back-to-back rather than breech.

As for weekly appts now, that's what i thought too, but after my 36 wk appt, got told it was 2 weeks to the next one, *then* i think it might be weekly though i hope my LO arrives early so i don't have to worry about them!

I've just finished setting up the pool for a home waterbirth, my m/w has never attended one before so we're going to see how it goes with her or whoever is on duty on the day/night...but i just dread the thought of not being able to use it at all and having to go into hospital. So lots of positive thinking and visualisation.
  • hi all I am finally 12 weeks pregnant! Well 12+2 today woohoo!!!

purplegirluk1 - Have you thought about reflexology to turn the baby around - they burn something near your little toe and although sounds bizarre it really does work!!! I've been watching all the labour and birth programmes on sky - its like an addiction even tho I scare myself I cant seem to stop - my dp has refused to come down and eat breakfast anymore till I turn them over lol:p

  • only fortnightly appointments for me too until the birth - wish they were weekly as i think we need keeping an eye on more towards the end - probably cut backs don't allow it.

  • Congrats to Bun. 2 1/2 weeks early - you're supposed to give birth after me!!!

Also congrats to lindseyandMatthew. I hope everything goes smoothly for you.

Purplegirl - I agree with Dougggie. Try not to worry about how things go. The most important thing is that your little one comes out not harmed. I have also read that sometimes the babe just changes to breech right near the end only to turn around not far off from you giving birth. Just because he's breech now doesn't mean you'll definitely need a c birth. Also even with ME there is nothing to say that you'll definitely take longer to get better afterwards as well. You might completely surprise yourself (if you have a c birth) that you get better amazingly quickly due to all the mummy hormones in your system. You never know. Of course it's a shock that after all this time of planning a water birth to be told you might need a c birth but it's also better to be totally prepared mentally for any eventuality just in case. Here's a good website that has some of the ideas that Dougggie and Pink Princess mentioned in more detail.

    http://www.mother-care.ca/breech.htm

I also just found out that I might need a c birth if my herpes doesn't clear up. Coincidentally the herpes came up after reading that post about cpv not so long ago. I couldn't believe it. I've come to terms with it now though. Of course if the herpes is still there when I go into labour then I'll have to have a c birth as it's too dangerous for the babe. I've planned a home water birth right from the start so to suddenly start contemplating a hospital c birth did put the heebee geebees up me. So for any new mums out there please contemplate all the birth possibilities as it makes you more prepared for any eventuality. I thought that I'd be different - I think that's one of the reasons why it's happened to me as I'm no different!!

On another note I just thought I post this website again about home births as it has loads of great info about births in general too.

Good luck to all of you out there nearing the end, and to those of you who have just started (remember to rest yourself please - I didn't rest myself enough and look where it got me!!) and to those of you who are ttc. x
