  • Hi 3kids, is it the tape measure measurements? I know that they are only a very rough guide and some MW's don't even do it as they are so vague. I was actually measuring 2 weeks ahead of my dates for a while around 30 weeks and then it evened itself out, according to their chart.

I'm sure they will send you for a scan if they are worried but I'm sure everything is fine.

3Kids, i measured small for dates, had to have doppler scans twice a week and growth scans every 2 weeks from 35 weeks.
There was a problem with the placenta and Adam wasn't getting enough 'food', also my placenta was small.
In the end i had an emergency c-section and Adam weighed 4lbs 2oz, he was fine, just tiny and only 2 weeks early.
I know how you must be feeling, and you can't help worrying.
Are you being sent for more scans? We were told at one growth scan that Adam would probably be around 3 1/2lbs to 4 lbs.

Babes could have had a growth spurt inbetween your appointments but if your mw is in any way concerned she will arrange a scan xx

P.S. Feel free to pm xx
If everyone cared and nobody cried, if everyone loved and nobody lied, if everyone shared and swallowed their pride then we'd see the day when nobody died.

  • Congrats Shelvis!!!!

becky_sleaf, how's the little one doin?

Choc I don't fancy another 3 years (and 3yrs without the lovely long holidays of normal students!!) at uni either. Although I'd not rule it out, once I have my kidlets (I hope!!) I'd be in my early-mid 30's when they'd be going to school and I'd like to go back to work (planning on being a SAHM) - might go back to uni and train to be a midwife. Why is it most of the midwives I know either aren't married or don't have kids?!?! Not sure I have it in me to be hard on someone during labour, even if it is for their own good. Then again - I think this world needs a few more pleasant midwives!!
  • Thanks Septemberbaby and Suzukibabe. Yes it is the tape measure thing. I am not having further scans or anything as my size has only just dropped down but it depends on if it drops further. I worry too much I know. I am so used to having large babies, my last child weighed in at 9lb and i am only small so i wasn't expecting any problems with size - then i start to think that if the baby is small does that mean that something else could be wrong. Hopefully at my next appointment in 9 days i will be measuring back up the chart.

Washed all baby clothes and some are hung in his new wardrobe. Looks lovely - still got things to buy but got enough clothes now i think. Difficult to know what size to pack in hospital bag though so will probably pack several different sizes.

Can't believe all the newbies added to the list - scary nearing the top.

Congrats Shelvis and to all those who have given birth or added themselves to the lists.

Can't remember who asked about what they should buy that they won't recieve as gifts!! As for sanitary pads I know it's not vey money saving but I bought Boots thick pads I think 10 for £1 and also the thin ones 10 for £1.99. I put a thin one on then a thick one on top as it felt more secure just for the 1st few days after birth as the thin ones have wings!!

Ok quick birth story!! My waters broke 6.20am 24/12/07 NO contarctions (exactly like you Shelvis). Went to hospital @ 6.45am, examined and was 2cm dilated sent home and was told if contractions hadn't started by 8am 25/12/07 to go back and I would be induced. The back of 3 in the aftenoon (24/12) my contractions started. I coped until 5.30am 25/12 and foned the hospital who said come in. I was given an anti sickness jab straight away then on gas and air. Ellie was born at 10.03am with the help of ventouse.

I guess I will be leaving this thread now and joining the parents club. Will see you all over there when it's your turn to move on!!

Best of luck to you all
