Congratulations beakerange!
I bought my first baby things today - 2 sweet little vests, 25p each from the charity shop. Then my friend came round with a moses basket, loads of blankets, sheets, clothes, a steriliser, bouncy chair, and mobile. She's giving me a cot too. Overwhelmed!

I'm just thinking I'm getting upwards of 15 per day (and some hurt!!!), never usually this bad, am guessing the air is dryer than ususal. Am hoping to be about 4.5 months along this time next year and am worried that the shocks wouldn't be good for the little-un.
Anyone else suffer from this or know anything about it??
If she doesn't wear Crocs it could be caused by another kind of footwear or yet another bizarre thing a pregnant body can do.Booo!!!0 -
Might sound daft but does your friend wear Crocs shoes by any chance? They are mega comfy but notorious for causing the wearer to have lot's of static shock's , not sure but don't think it would do your friends baby any harm.

Thanks Violetta, that's actually for me this time :j
Not that I'm pregnant as yet, but would like to be by this time next year and when I'm getting huge amounts of shocks a day, something made me wonder if it would be bad for an unborn baby and decided this was as good a place as any to ask  It doesn't seem to matter what I wear on my feet or what material of clothing I wear either, but it's a lot worse when the air is very dry (funnily enough since that's what causes it!!!). Thanks though!0 -
Oooh and good luck Shelvis!!0

SeptemberBaby wrote: »Not sure about the ins and outs of this but the MG form has an 'are you waiting to hear' box to tick as well as 'in receipt of' box when applying so have a MG form all filled in and ready. Also, when you get your Bounty bag at the hospital, inside is the Child Benefit form (curently £18.10 per week - due to go up to £18.80 in April 2008) and also enclosed is a leaflet re Tax Credits. When you (or OH) feel up to it after the birth, call the number and they send you out the form. Return it as soon as you can and then you can tick the 'applied for' box on the MG form and send that in pronto . Just make sure it is sent in with 3 months. Best to apply and see what happens. They can only say no!
Hope I'm making sense! Only know about it as my neighbour asked for my help in completing hers.

Thanks so much! This is a great help and very reassuring - I'm hoping to slowly buy everything we need as cheap as possible from local papers and ebay, but need to be sure I can cover the debt of the student overdraft I'll be using! :rolleyes:0 -

Do you have access to freecycle? I am waiting for my 3 month scan before I start to get anything but I have been on there recently and people are giving away things like baby monitors/baby gates etc for free x0
