  • Ahhh Shelvis, Bumpy, Flis and maybe even Nicola!!
How exciting ... more lil babbies!!

Might be a strange question to ask, but does anyone know if it's bad for a pregnant woman to be getting a load of static shocks. I'm just thinking I'm getting upwards of 15 per day (and some hurt!!!), never usually this bad, am guessing the air is dryer than ususal. Am hoping to be about 4.5 months along this time next year and am worried that the shocks wouldn't be good for the little-un.

Anyone else suffer from this or know anything about it??

I've been feeling really nautious this past couple of days. Am sure I'm not pg but am wondering if any of you guys found anything that worked for your morning sickness, I know it's hormones that cause that, but I'm prepared to try anything. I just had a cup of tea (black, can't take milk) after coming in and had to do a lot of deep breathing to stop myself throwing up! Still trying 10 minutes later.
I've also been waking during the night in need of food, rather unusual but still, am sure there's some reason out there!! Any tips on what I should keep by my bed that I can eat without having to go make anything and that won't be too bad for my teeth??????
    Thanks!!

I've had hideous morning sickness this time (although not as bad as Mrcow!) and tea was a handy trigger if I wanted to be ill before going out to get it out of the way. I didn't have any luck with gingery things this time, but did last when it was milder. I also tried sea sickness bands but they only lasted a bit. Peppermint tea was better to keep down, or water (particularly first thing). The best thing I found to keep down otherwise was bananas - good for you and easily digestible I think, some days that's all I had, with water. You want the quite unripe ones though if the smell sets you off. Otherwise mint sucking helped. Good luck!
Annabeth Charlotte arrived on 7th February 2008, 2.5 weeks early :D

Ooh, good luck Shelvis and Bumpy Becky! My waters didn't break last time so quite exciting as I don't know what to expect if mine do!

  • Thanks guys, like I said, I'm not pregnant (we're careful and use condoms and aren't planning on kids just yet!!) but have been feeling pretty icky and sicky - so was just after a few tips on what people with morning sickness use to try and calm it! I think I'll be staying away from the tea though - peppermint didn't have quite such a strong reaction, but it didn't settle well.
I'm finding I'm either full from just eating or my stomach is growling. Must be going through a hungry phase or something! Especially with being hungry during the night. Some of that time (esp if I don't eat) I begin to feel very sick, and sometimes after I've eaten. So I think I have that in common with the poor pregnant women with morning sickness, although obviously, that would be a lot more extreme!!

Anyway, am sure it will clear up, it's been about a week on and off and the hunger can't carry on much more or I'll start putting on weight!! Why do I have to be hungry now?!?!?! I've already eaten loads. And if I eat any more, I'll not sleep for acid reflux! (hmm, thanks already crisps!!)
Argh, if this is even a taste of what pregnancy can start like (AF due in 2 days and boobs are extra ouchy this month and I'm a little crampy already) I don't know what I'll be letting myself in for come Aug/Sept when we're hopefully gonna try for a babba.

Is it really as bad as people make it out to be, or is that just cos this is a good place to vent the bad stuff when no one else wants to hear it cos 'you're pregnant - everything should be going swimmingly'.:T

I'm gonna try get some sleep now (stomach and chest I command you to stop burning!! ) and not dream I'm eating a mountain of food...mmm would love some red licorice just now and hope I feel better for it in the morning. I mean at least I'm not actually throwing up, my body sometimes just makes me feel like I wanna. Lol.

(I'm feeling like adding smilies so I'm adding smilies :D )
  • Btw ... what are they putting in tea to make people feel like throwing up?!?!?! :o

[EDIT] Snugglepuss - does anyone in your family have dairy intollerance? Not trying to scare or anything, but mum couldn't stomach milk from about 20 weeks with me and I was born with it, Dr's said I probably would be as it was prob her body protecting me, but my dad also is intollerant of dairy. I'm sure it's probably just a stage and from what I've seen being pregnant can make your body do weird things without explanation which rectify themselves immediatly after birth or even sooner :D

Even if the LO is born with a dairy intollerance, it's not a big deal. I've managed to cope with it all my life and even as a kid knew what I could / couldn't eat from an early age :T

Hope everyone is doin ok (and having babies and taking loads of pics for me to get even more broody over!! - DH says that's impossible!!:p )
  • Morning guys!

Still here, still pregnant and still leaking!!! No pains or anything and (get this!) I had the BEST nights sleep i have had in WEEKS!!!! I can't believe it!! Woo hoo!!!

Flis21 is due to be induced today I think so sending good luck to her! Hope it all goes well.

    Bumpybecky?? Any news??

No-one in my family has a dairy intolerance, and I've mentioned it to my consultant as I was concerned i wasn't getting enough calcium. Apparantly quite a few women get it during pregnancy, and it isn't a problem as it sorts itself out after the baby is born. I'm ok with cheese though!
  • Hello! I'm new to the list and pregnant with my second child, this one is very inconveniently timed, but such is life! Re morning sickness - I have just had my first 2 sick free days! I found bitter lemon was the best thing to counter-act nausea (or the occasional 1/2 lager!!!)

I have put me on the list! I hope this has worked!
