oh purplegirl i think you done the right thing and its always better to be safe than sorry, gas is one of those things you can never be too careful with!!.
well am having yet another moan, feel like thats all i do at the moment. i had the midwifes out yest to go over the homebirth plan and check the house and everything, was so excited and have felt so relaxed about it all knowing that i could have a bit more control over it all. however i recieved a phonecall from the hosp this morning to say that i am not able to have a homebirth due to equiptment shortages and that there is no way around it. i have never been so gutted in my life, have been crying non stop as i havent had very good experiences with my last labours in hospital. OH isnt here today either and he was as gutted as me when i told him on the phone. i dont know what to do i really dont want to go to the hospital for delivery and also i was told not to make any more antinatal appointments as homebirth patients have them done at home to meet all the midwifes?? so i cant get another appointment until the week before im due. it seems like a big disaster and i just feel like i have had enough???? with christmas and baby in 5 weeks i feel like i should be all excited and enjoying it all but i just feel so down and dreading it????? sorry for the doom and gloom x
 That's awful! Why let you believe that a home birth is possible if they don't have the equipment?Stand your ground & tell them that it's just not good enough. Find out what they are missing & why they can't get hold of it,as you said it's 5 weeks away! How terrible,I would be fuming!
Our 1st baby is due 29th December 2007! :rudolf:
I'm hopeful that this get's me out of cooking Christmas dinner!
Baby Ruby arrived after 55 hours of labour & an emergency c section on Christmas Day at 14.41 weighing 6lb 6oz...And yes I did get out of cooking Christmas dinner!!:rotfl:0 -
PurplegirlUK - poor you. I don't think you overreacted at all. It is definitely better to be safe than sorry and you were concerned for the health of your baby. I have a carbon monoxide alarm, which i bought for about £25 and thought was really expensive, but for piece of mind it is so worth it. Our boiler is in need of replacing and have had someone out this week and so i really can sympathise - i am 29 weeks pregnant.now mum of 4!!!0

Oh, how terrible can they be. I assume you are well aware but if you insist on a HB then they have to send a MW and equipment. There are lots of 'put off' stories on this website and examples of letters to write to the head of midwifery as well as thousands of success stories http://www.homebirth.org.uk/.
I hope you get your wish. I had one last month and it was fab ...0 -
Ouch! Just got home and fell down on my drive. Not a dramatic fall, one leg just got on some ice and slid and I slowly slid further and further down with my legs apart but my back and pelvis are really hurting.0

Hi Guys
Have just scanned the last few pages as im not really feeling great but everybody seems to be the same.
I have a bit of an embarrasing question to ask and may even post it on the Parents Thread as their baby's are out lol
Ok my lady bits look very very swollen, you could even say bulging - a tiny little bit like when the baby is about to be born if you know what i mean? Does anybody else have this and does it mean that the baby's head is fully engaged? Im half expecting her to be born early as it seems to be a trait in my family but i dont really want to ask the midwife if its nothing cos she may want a peek  :rotfl::heart: I love my gorgeous little girl0 -

Crikey! I hope you're ok? I have this image of you going down in slow motion. I fell down the stairs the other week  only the last few but i went down with a right wallop! Ouch...it did my back no good at all!
Take a couple of painkillers & get a hot water bottle behind your back. Hopefully that will ease the pain. Our 1st baby is due 29th December 2007! :rudolf:

Thanks! The hard part was getting back up! Think I'm going to have a warm bath and see if that eases it.
Sorry, ella, wish I could help with your question but i really don't know. Hopefully someone will come along soon who does.0 -
A bath and a lie down will probably help
I tripped out of the door a few weeks ago and although it wasnt a bad fall and i landed on my bum it was a huge shock and really shook me up, how are you feeling in yourself? I love my gorgeous little girl0 -
I'm not sure ella,I've not experienced this myself. I'd say contact your Midwife if your concerned. Our 1st baby is due 29th December 2007! :rudolf:
