Reckon I will be the bain of your life ladies....but can anyone tell me about working out the due date? I have taken my last period start date which was 12th May, however mine is usually 27 days as oppose to 28. When I put that in it gives me one date but on a 28 cycle. Then I guess the conceived date, and its a different date...then another one asks me about the time after ovulation and the day before next period. Checking back, mine range between 11-13 days so which do I use? Or do I just wait to see what the doc says? How do they know?
    Thanks

The doc will calculate it for you, but your date will probably change after your first scan, where they can go by the size of the foetus.

Mind you, it' awful if you find out you're not as far on as you thought you were.....my original date worked out as Jul 1st, but the scan put it at Jul 19th, so I took a huge step back in weeks:rolleyes:

    Wow - the first scan!!!
I had my first scan yesterday afternoon (13 weeks), it was great! Did other people feel so amazed?
As some of you may remember this pregnancy was a surprise and I was unsure (and dare I say unhappy at first) but I think reality really did bite yesterday - OMG it is really happening, it was there, looking pretty cool and everything seems fine.
Luckily as it is a little bigger (scan says 13/14 weeks). I now have 2 due dates 13th and 18th Dec - so I say roll on 13th so it isn't born on Xmas Day!!
Thank you for everyone's kind comments on my earlier post - you were right - the scan does change things if you feel unsure.
    Proud to save:T

    hahahah thanks Ladies!

    I'm scared now!
I have already been feeling under the weather and seem to have caught a cough. Also hot and cold flushes (is that normal?), dizziness and also cramps. Worried I might be going through an early menopause as I am 38 hahahaha.
    Boobs are so sore though!

Will keep you posted, but no doubt I will be back here loads as need the girlies to talk to and can't tell anyone yet!

Might tell parents at weekend, as will be 5 weeks then (according to my caculations) and whilst that seems a bit early-I am a carer for my brother who had mountain bike accident 10 years ago. He is in wheelchair with brain injury and my hubby is worried about lifting the wheelchair (and helping him) in and out of the car. Also he has temper tantrums (my brother, not my husband!) when frustrated, which can be stressful as he self harms. Again hubby worried about me being in a stressful environment and wondered if it will have any effect so early on a embryo?
Are we right to be cautious cos they say not to wrap yourself in cotton wool? I cant be the first woman to work in such an environment, so told my hubby not to stress!
    x

Well, i haven't done the washing up since conception for fear of 'overdoing it' ;) so I wouldn't feel too guilty about avoiding heavy lifting.

    Hi Beakerage

I am also 13 weeks and it was also my first scan yesterday afternoon. I am still in shock as to how amazing it was. I can't believe how much i love the baby already. I know i'm going to become such a baby bore from now on.

my due date was edged back 3 days closer to christmas. so now to be expected on the 19th. I know it's only three days, but i was a bit dissapointed because it feels like i have to be pregnant for an extra 3 days, although i know the due date means nothing etc etc.

I am spending today posting photocopies of the scan picture to everyone i have ever met.

Congratulations guys. Glad you enjoyed your scans. It's so amazing. I really loved hearing the hearbeats of mine too although they don't do this as routine.

Hoffific weather here last night, so glad baby did not decided to come then or else I would have been having it at home. Got to sort out a leaky window today- just what you need at 38 wks pregnant!

aw bless glad the scans went well - it was the first time it got anywhere real for me.

So glad I'm seeing my chiro today as I feel like I've been punched in the ribs - baby has moved position and seems to have spent most of the last 3 days up under my ribs kicking every now and then to make sure I don't forget he's there

if you have PCOS then your GP will be able to advise on what any implications there are - I think it can be more difficult to conceive but it's not impossible. If you've not got any of the symptoms then it may just be that you're taking a while - you say you've been TTC for a few months but is that 2 or 10? It can take a while and if you know when you ovulate then that helps a lot - you can buy ovulation kits or you can just record your temp and chart it to see when you ovulate.

On a different note - proof that pregnancy is an extreme sport - I just saw my chiro about my rib pain and he said it's the kind of injury (one of the ribs was majorly displaced) that he's only ever seen before in people who've had horse riding accidents  Feels a lot better now!

Aww, so glad your scans went well, beakerange and jbbonce. :j They really are so special - I've haven't had a scan yet where I haven't blubbed and been the most emotional wreck ever. :o You see the little bean happily bouncing around and it just becomes the most important thing in the world. :smileyhea

Miss_pink, I really don't know much about the condition, but hopefully your doc should be able to help next week. Good luck! :)

3 months is nothing miss pink so hopefully it's just a case of getting the timing right and you'll be well away. Doesn't do any harm to see the GP anyway and to make sure that your general health and lifestyle is healthy so that you're prepared - not sure if it's any use to you either but I know a lot of people who've got pregnant whilst losing weight, don't know if the weight loss helped or if it's maybe a psychological thing that when you're concentrating on that you're not thinking about getting pregnant quite so much (obviously no use if you're svelte already though ;) )
