  • I think the next 10 weeks will go fairly fast, especially when you consider the run up to Christmas is included in that. And it's something to look forward to when January is miserable!

Yeah i think it will fly by, but lets just hope were not snowed in when they both decide to make an appearance, which will probably be on the same day lol

Does anyone know... where I live we have the option of three places to give birth, 2 hospitals and a midwifery led centre. I would really like to gie birth at the midwifery led centre but my midwife isn't keen as I had very slow labours with my first two and had to have waters broken and eventually a drip to speed labour. She says they wouldn't do this at the MLC and would transfer me to another hospital instead.

Is there anything I can be doing to promote a quicker labour or is it just "one of those things" that some people labour for longer than others?

Or am I just being selfish and shold just go to hospital and be done with it?
    I don't think you're being selfish at all. :)

I had a really long labour with DS1 too and was eventually put on a drip as well. With DS2, I gave birth at a midwife-led unit and it was great (it was right next door to the normal labour ward, though, so if I had needed any assistance it would've been very easy to do). My second labour was still long-ish but nowhere near as bad as the first (or maybe it was just the fact that I knew what to expect, sort of ;)).

I don't think there's an awful lot you can do to speed up your labour, apart from the old staying active trick. Also, I tried to stay at home as long as I possibly could.

Good luck - think of it this way, surely your third labour can't be any longer than the first two! :)
  • Me too!!!! How quickly we forget! :rotfl:

And I so miss the anticipation of being on The List!

Thanks Agutka & izoomzoom and congrats to all the newbies!

PS: You still here, fac?!? :rotfl:I can't find it in myself to move on just yet :o.

    x

Still here :o I miss the excitement of the date creeping ever-closer too... not the overdue bit so much though! I can't quite believe my little bump has gone - I sort of miss feeling him move around... I don't think I ever said 'I love being pregnant' so I know I'm just filtering out the crap but I miss it :o

Can't believe Elliot is nearly four weeks old now, doesn't it go fast. He only had one chin then :D little fatty :blushing:

That's what I'm hoping!! I stayed home for ages with DD then when I went to hospital was 5cm already. Great, thought I, and the midwife said would probably only take another 5 hours. 5 hours later when she checked...still 5cm!! Moral of the story - stay home until need to push??

Mind you my friend had 4 and 2 hour labours with hers, then 17 hours for number 3. I figure I've already had a 4 day and a nearly 2 day labour - I'm OWED a short one!!!

Unless of course, ella's right and we're both snowed up (wouldn't be at all surprised!!!!)

    Hi ladies!

Just a quick update to let you all know that Pheobe Louise Alyssa arrived safely on 15th Nov @ 13.44pm! :D

Waters broke around 9pm on Wed, phoned hospital who said to come in for check over. Got down there, BP high, Pulse v. fast and had major swelling! Kept me in for obs, having irregular contractions through the night. By 10.30am became regular, was checked and was still only 4cm dialated. Moved to delivery suite around 12pm, by 12.45pm felt the urge to push. MW didn't believe me but after a bit of pestering, checked me again and was fully dialated. After less than 1hr pushing, Phoebe was born a healthy 7lbs using only gas and air. (So much for the huge baby they kept telling me I was having! ) Pushed the gas thing into my forehead so much, I had a dent for 2 days:o .

Had 2nd degree tear and needed stitches, lost a lot of blood. After blood test, found my HB was only 6.8 so needed a blood transfusion. Had 3 units of blood and felt better but had to stay in for obs. Finally released Sat am and doing great. Feeding/sleeping well, such a good baby. 1st night home as a family was magic, nothing like it!

Will post pics soon and update list. Good luck to all upcoming EDD'ers, wishing you all speedy and pain-free deliveries! x

Congratulations Sadie204 glad all is going well for you on the sleeping feeding front ....makes life so much easier ....

Glad to hear your little one is doing well now also curious ...

as you know from my previous post Archie too spent 3 days needing special care and although we didn't allow ourselves to think too far into the future at that point it was mega stressful not knowing exactly why he had problems and how long it would take to make him well again. The stress and extra activity going up to SCBU has also delayed my healing and so I'm now off to the dr's tomorrow to get my wound seen to ...very yukky at the mo

Here's my piccy of my little Archie as promised, he's sleeping well too ...practically all the time really unless he's eating so I don't know why I feel so shattered and the house is a mess already......

I've never posted a picture before so hope it works!!!
