    Hiya x

My physio thinks my pain and altered sensation in my thigh is

    meralgia paresthetica

I am interested to know if any of you guys had it and did you get signed off work? I am a paeds nurse and we are manic at the mo - which means more time on my feet - therefore symptoms are much worse. Had a little cry last night as it was soo painful.

When I have a few days off my legs are a million times better - but feel like such a slacker if I go off sick but want to do whats best for me and baby x

    Thank in advance x

congrats to all the new babies and mums!!!! some of they birth stories are great making me worry about it now though pmsl:P:P

    hi to all the newbies!!!!!

at last i have the physio today, and to be honest i cant wait. my back and pelvis are so sore i have had to stop lifting my 2 year old and even having her on my knee is painful??? walking any length is impossible and pushing a trolley is not possible(thank god for internet shopping!!!). dont know how many times i have now told husband i have had enough of being pregnant and keep bursting into tears over the little things. has anyone else been through this and any advice??? i have noticed that if i have done a lot during the day i cannot move at night time, was advised to take low does cocodamol but sticking to paracetamol at the mo???

sorry for the wee moan but everyone thinks that as i have other kids i should sail through this and its been the worst pregnancy yet!! roll on the next 9 weeks xxxxxx
What's for you won't go past you
  • Sorry everyone - but am i the only one who avoids reading the birth stories. Despite already having 3 kids and knowing what is to come, i can't bear to read about it and would rather stick my head in the sand!!!

Cazcoob - i can sympathise with you. With each of my pregnancies i have had extra small problems and people do think that you should be a pro and sail through pregnancy when in reality it is much harder as the strain on your body is worse. Try not to get down and eventually we will be holding our babies and no more pregnancy problems.

Love it that i am moving up the list and all of a sudden the end of February doesn't seem that far way. Not sure whether to start buying larger items for baby or waiting to see if i can get things cheaper in the sales - or will this be leaving it a bit late?

    Hiya Cazscoob x

I totally sympathise at feeling crappy with your back pain - its very depressing and very debilitating!

I am sure you will get this advice from your physio too

    But I reccomend

a body pillow at night to sleep.

A gym ball to sit on - instead of sofa - won't take you an hour to get off the ball and its much comfier.

I really benefit from my aquanatal classes.

Also I was told to take things easy - Do everything in moderation - no 2 hour long sessions at the ironing - or blitzing the house in a day! Just take things easy and accept help whenever its offered!

Hope you feel better soon x

Can you afford to splash out on a massage? That might just be what the Dr ordered.

Hope the sweep tomorrow starts things off

  • Hi Guys. I've not been on in a while and loads has happened!

Congratulations to all of you who've had babies and thank you so much for your birth stories. :j I think that the more I know the less I'll be surprised when my little one turns up.

Also sending Baby Vibes to all those still waiting. :T

And Congratulations to all of you newbies out there. If you want to join the list then you need to find the most recent list, that shows everyone who's pregnant with their Estimated Due Date, is Trying To Conceive, who has had their baby and Too Tired To Long On (go back a few pages) and then copy and paste the whole list into the reply area and add your name to it. Be sure to find the list by going back from this page as it's recently been updated.

Also beakerange this website has info (somewhere) about what to do to get your baby into optimal positioning. It is about homebirths but it has lots of other really good pregnancy related info too so others of you will find it useful too. Here it is:

    http://www.homebirth.org.uk/

At the moment I'm pootling along. I'm not working and trying to fill my days with stuff that's interesting. Watched loads of DVDs and am avoiding doing the really 'interesting' paperwork! The other day I didn't speak to anyone until 5pm, so I'm trying to get out and meet people most days so I don't go stir crazy. Otherwise all is fine. The sciatic pain that I did have went away after I realised it was a manifestation of 'someone was getting on my nervess' so I'm very happy to have cleared it.

The only thing that's depressing me is trying to find a good buggy, travel system, baby mover thing. My goodness it's a minefield out there. Does any one know of a good site about them? I just start thinking that I've got the right one and then I read some awful review that makes that pram to be the worst on the market. So any suggestions?

Anyway, I hope you are all well. Take care and happy pregnancy vibes to you all. xxx :hello:

  • me again!!

Miss_be - i've been looking at what pram/buggy to get too. Not sure if it is too early to buy and if they actually go down in the sales. Was looking at maclaren xt, but just to confuse me they have brought out a maclaren xlr which can be bought as a travel system. So confusing!!! They are so expensive too. I have had several maclarens and always wear out their wheels so not sure if to go for something completely different. Hoping to get surestart maternity grant at 29 weeks so may have to wait until then to start looking, but shops will be mayhem over Christmas. Think i will buy from mothercare or boots (hopefully with some discount codes) as i have bought from other places before and have had problems with repairs/faulty items.

Come on Hopeless Cook - we know you like this forum but it's time for you to leave now!
    now mum of 4!!!
  • We got a second hand travel system buggy for £50 and its awesome, can't wait till the baby is here to try it out! Some of the new buggies/prams that are out in mothercare at the moment look bloody stupid!

thanks all!!! i went to see the physio and was given support belt and a few exercises(use your pelvis not your legs lol!!!!!) have also been given an appointment with a complimentary therapist who does reflexology amongst other things and its all FREE!!!!!:D:D:D:D
only downside is i have to wait until first week in dec but might book myself inbetween times to the local massage place. i have heard that they have a special water bed for pregnant woman!! its a bit more expensive but if i only use it once then it wont be so bad!!!
but again thanks for the nice words this morning all hormones lol!!!!

as for buggies you are better going and trying them out first, see if they fit in your boot and ease of folding etc etc. i never and ended up with a huge pram and couldnt get it in my boot, we got bigger car but i never even thought about it??? and hears some labour vibes for all those in need xxxxxx
What's for you won't go past you
  • Hi everyone!

Sorry I haven't been around for months but I have good news, I'm pregnant! Whohoo!:j Baby is due 20th April. I'm currently suffering from bad back ache so am sat on my newly acquired gym ball to try and help with that. So far everything's going really well. We heard the baby's heartbeat a couple of week's ago and I'm now counting down the weeks until the 20 week scan.

I'm hoping to have a homebirth but DH is not keen and would prefer me to go to our local hospital, which is in effect a birthing centre rather than a full on scary maternity ward and I have to say very relaxed and peaceful - we'll have to see what happens over the next few months as to who wins! ;)

I'm now going to have a read through of everything I've missed! Could be a while! Congratulations to everyone who's had their babies and to the others who've joined the bump club. Good luck to everyone still trying!
