WOW - all these babies being born! CONGRATULATIONS to all those who have their babies now. I can't wait now, I'm getting fed up already and I still have 5 weeks (at least) to go.
I have been suffereing heartburn too and have got a HUGE bottle of Gaviscon on prescription from my MW. To be honest I found rennie more effective, but at least the Gaviscon is free!!
Welcome to all the newbies tooProud to be dealing with my debts0 -
well... i managed to burst into tears as soon as MW asked how i was doing
feel so stupid though as i know there is nothing she or anyone else can do... my only cure is delivery,
but.... she had a feel and said that he is a good size already, she said he would be bigger than my daughter (who was born at term+2days weighing 7lb 9oz) and recorded my measurement as 38 weeks,
id say she just signed his eviction notice!
now... i know that he wont come til hes ready and nothing i do will change that, but at least i will feel better that im doing something to try and make him shift!
ive told OH to expect to be pounced on later... he seems quite happy with this!
ps- i got a huge bottle of gaviscon on prescription too, but as it has the texture of...ahem... 'spume'
it made me feel sick! lol
im sooooooooooooooo sqeamish at the moment (OH probably not as happy with that, but he cant have everything! lol)0 -
I'm off to hospital tomorrow I guess to discuss induction or something. Can anyone tell me if I need to take my hospital bag with me, or take OH with me? I don't really fancy travelling all that way on my own in my current state, but no point him taking time off now.
What happened to you overdue ladies at the standard 'let's see what we can do to get baby out' hospital appt?
Congratulations to jojo and nickydee, who both stole my favourite dates:p. Never mind, I'll probably be stuck with the 13th...
Apart from that I am not a happy bunny right now. Had doc appt this morning, so on the way home went to sainsbury's, tiring enough. Then I thought I'd take dog out walkies, exhausting. Then I thought I'd do some batch cooking, which killed my back, then cleaned the kitchen, more pain, and to top it all off I had some ironing to finish.
OH watched TV through all this and where I asked for help I got huge 'do I have to do everything' comments and sighs. I could throttle him. The house is not set up yet, I can't do anything, and apart from the impending birth, my mother will be coming!! And I will not be mentally strong enough to deal with her. He was doing so well for days, moving stuff in, hoovering, wiping, but for three days it's been nothing. He even has a huge problem that he has had to take over the dog walking! I thought I was the one who should be resting right now.
Right, I'm off to bed, hopefully to get feeling back in my back
Goodnight from a moaning whale...
I always take a bag when I visit hospital now. On My 20 weeks scan I stayed in for 4 nights and on my follow up clinic appointment I stayed for another 4 nights, so it's become second nature to take an overnight bag anytime I visit. If there is any chance you may go into labour I would take a bag packed with spare knickers, pads, toiletries and books.£4000 challenge
Currently leftover - £3872.150 -
Is anyone else expected to give birth prematurely? I'm 25+4 today but I've been told labour could happen anytime (cervical weakness). I've had stitched which come out at 35 wks, and apparently most women go into labour within 42 hours of the stitch coming out. Meaning I could be a mum before Xmas - scary!£4000 challenge

Wow, sounds like they like you at that hospital! Goodness, does this mean you have to be more careful than the rest of us - such as NOT doing starjumps (if one more person suggests this...grrr).
Now, is there a chance of me going into labour? Probably not , although at 41+2 you'd think there would be. But you're right, better safe than sorry. Although I'd be more worried about having to pay two sets of car parking charges if OH has to join me later...:wall:0 -
Well, I am now on maternity leave as of this morning - and it feels fantastic! I'm 33+2, given up earlier than anticipated due to SPD, but main problem is I'm effectively housebound as I can't walk without severe pain at the moment.
I always thought that I would have trouble letting go of the job, and would be fretting about how things were going - but I had a long hand over meeting with my line manager yesterday where we went through all my projects and I told him everything I knew about what was due, deadlines, problems etc.
And now I couldn't care less about the job :-)
The excruciating pain is helping to keep my mind off it :-(
Sitting at the computer is pain free :-)
Going to the loo (fortunately we have a downstairs one) is hideous :-(
I have an appointment with a physio next Wednesday, but if I go back to the midwife can she give me some stronger painkillers that won't hurt the baby? Paracetomol is not even touching the sides at the moment... I am reluctant to take anything stronger, but I can't dress or wash myself properly and only just manage to get to loo. OH works full time, but comes home at lunchtime to make sure I have eaten and have everything I need.
The SPD has got much much worse in the last few days, I was OK until Monday - mobile at least...
Just not sure who to badger to get more treatment or help.
Any advice?

Hi Ali - I'm pleased to hear you are on mat leave but better yet, happy about it! Enjoy the peace and quiet...
You could ask for something a bit stronger. This is an anecdote, not advice - I went to the docs recently with back pain, I don't know what I did but I had what felt like a huge knot in between my shoulder blades that nothing was helping with - heat pads, baths, massage, and paracetamol was doing nothing. I was given a prescription for some cocodamol - a very low dose - but warned it can quieten foetal movement and told to go back in immediately if I didn't feel 10 kicks in 10 hours. I didn't take it in the end but had I had 6/7 weeks to go maybe I would have.
My SPD is worsening at this stage, but I find if I rest for a few days it 'buys' me a couple of hours waddling around at least... I pay for it afterwards though.0 -
fac - I can't believe how good it feels to not worry about work! I've been worried about it for so long, and then the hand over meeting yesterday (3.5 hrs!) seems to have washed it all away out of my mind. Everyone told me that it would not be my problem once I left, but I just didn't believe them. But they were right :-)
Have been offered part time work at home for extra pay for the next few weeks, stuff I can do at the dining room table, but am probably going to turn this down. After all, I'm in no condition to be going on mad spending sprees (except maybe online...)
Will make appointment with GP for tomorrow - am I right in thinking that MW can't prescribe stuff? Alternatively I can go to MW drop in this afternoon (if I can get to the car) if they will be able to help me.

Yes, sorry, midwife can't prescribe, I had to speak to a doctor to get a prescription for pethidine for when I'm in labour as the midwife couldn't do it. I find it weird that I can have it in my fridge but the midwife can't bring it with her, but nevermind.
Online shopping has been my saviour! I don't think there was a day last week when I wasn't waiting for one delivery or another... all done with MSE codes, discounts, and sales though of course!0
