MSE pregnancy club II

:hello:Hello, I am new to this thread.
I am 16 weeks pregnant with our first and very excited:j
I would welcome any tips on how to have a baby the MSE way as we will be taking a big cut in money when I go on maternity leave as I am currently the main earner. We have saved for the baby but wherever we can save money along the line would be great.
We are moving house next week as well so I haven't got anything for the baby yet at all as it seemed silly to get things only to then have to move them:rotfl:
We are hoping to use clothes nappies but have been looking at dispos for those early meconium poos. A friend has recommended Nature Baby which look good - anyone know if they ever go on special in Boots? Or if there is somewhere cheaper to get them?
ThanksMFIT No. 810 -

congrats!
I just read this and nearly popped my waters laughing at it (some of the info is usa based, but the basics are the same)

Thanks for that, i've been laughing out loud at my desk at work, people have been starring at me :rotfl: How true it is !0 -
Yip. Unions. You should never be expected to break up fights on a regular basis no matter what. And in your situation I would definately be putting myself first.
I don't know what the situation is in your school, but can children remain lined up in the yard until you get them personally? This helps a lot in our school, because at least if they were to start fighting there isn't anything they can hurt each other with (apart from the floor that is), alternatively could some sort of "red card" be put in place so you can get immediate assistance from the next class without having to personally leave the children when these problem occur?
Best wishes. I know how horrible it is to have no support from the top. Don't stand for it.
Thanks, they do line up outside and when I go out they do stand quietly but on the way in they always seem to continue whatever squabble started outside. Also we were given red cards with the instruction "but i don't want to see them used"!!!
To be honest the whole school isn't that bad - I loved my last classes - but Y6 has several major problems in it and they all spend the whole time winding each other up. the head doesn't help as she wants to be their friend - send anyone there and they more often than not come back with a reward and the teacher gets a dressing down, then othr children play up necause they want to go to the Head, grr!
Anyway, my midwife said yesterday that when I go back to the doctor next week he should have no problem signing me off until maternity leave (in her words) "looking at the state of you" (Well, thanks for that!). It feels like a cop-out but I am seriously considering it. By the time I go back Y6 will be leaving (and all the other year groups are great - only one or two behaviour problems in each class instead of 10!!)
Anyway, I feel I have clogged the boards up enugh with my problems and for that I am very sorry. I won't do it again!

my OH said the same thing last night when i was sobbing my little knackered heart out at 2am,
throwing up all evening, acid heartburn trying to throttle me and this weird feeling in my.... umm.... bajingo that someone had given Danny a miners helmet and hammer & chisel and told him to find his own way out,
i swear if i had gone to the loo and found a hand sticking out giving me a wave, i would not have been at all surprised!
got an antenatal appointment this morning, my midwife is a stick insect... so im going to sit on her until she gives me some suggestions on how to get through this next few weeks... and if she doesnt, well im just going to have to snap her.
ps - hello Redbedhead, firstly CONGRATS!
when we see bargains they tend to get posted so dont worry about that!
and just remember, babies are only as expensive as you let them get... they really dont need the contents of the babies r us catalogue to be happy,
some of us might.... they dont! lol0 -
hi
I'm still recovering from the thread CG posted last night and then to top it off I did my usual browse for interesting threads and came across a rather interesting thread an bleaching a certain part of the body.....I'm surprised I didn't set off labour the amount I laughed....so then of course I had to show it to OH!
Makes a change from "baby, baby, baby!" as he says I do (well I'm 35 - I didn't think I'd be having any more so hence the obsession - especially not to make all the naive mistakes I did last time )
welcome redbedhead - good luck with the big move - my money saving tip is go second hand for everything...you'll save a fortune and babies dont wear much out in their early years! I've bought some things new because I've been working full time and been rushed, but at car boot sales, nct sales and the like you could kit your baby out for well under £500.00 (and still have lots of change) whereas you could easily spend that on a good pram system and bedding otherwise.
chocoholic - my dr offered to sign me off when I went in after getting the cramps (you know those leg ones that fire in from nowhere and wake you up in the morning), so I think if you are in danger at all s/he would have no problem signing you off....that said my DS is around that age and takes the talking cure well to improve his behaviour, if you must go back maybe you could try and talk to them about your baby and involve them more to get them to behave better - or would it be approprate to get parents in to help at key times like after lunch ????? Perhaps ????? That said I think my DS is a bit grown up for his years sometimes so maybe he isn't a good example.
Anyway I'm sure they can't sack you for going on mat leave early - it'd put your kid through uni the compo you'd be entitled to! ;0)MSE PARENT CLUB MEMBER.ds1 nov 1997ds2 nov 2007:jFirst DDFirst DD born in june:beer:.0 -

This is my second pregnancy and i've noticed that if I sneeze and forget to 'hold myself' the I get alittle damp ! :rotfl: I've also noticed that the further on this pregnancy i've gone, the more damp I seem to feel on a daily basis ! Think i need some Tena lady pants  Wish i'd done more pelvic floor exercises !:o Don't worry, its perfectly normal0 -
Agutka, good luck for today. I'd probably have dragged the OH but then I'm a wimp
I don't doubt you're braver than me. Let us know how it went.
Welcome Redbedhead, and congratulations :j saving money is probably the best thing you can do - OH and I intended to save some of my salary every month, but got caught in a mindset of 'spend it while we can'...
chocaholic - if I were in your shoes I'd be biting the docs hand off for that sick note - seriously, it's just not worth it. I had a lot of time off before my maternity leave started and believe me any guilt you feel soon fades! Don't put up with that, it sounds awful - give yourself time to rest - it is not a cop out :grouphug:
CG you do seem to be suffering like crazy with this bloody heartburn, you poor thing - just think he could be out in two weeks though
liley - another heartburn suffereryou'll get sympathy in here... to be honest I think if you're being physically sick you shouldn't worry too much about a little leak, your body is under a lot of stress and maybe the baby is just in an awkward position? otherwise the only advice I can give is to clench, clench, clench...
