    Hiya all

Just saw 5 missed calls on my mobile and they were no number ones, and I thought, could it have been the hospital, with my results ????

So called through, asked for MW who has been dealing with my screening, only to be told she wasn't in, so I explained to MW that I had 5 missed calls on my mobile and wondered if it was the hospital ...

it was, and my results are fine. Our baby definitely does not have Downs, Turners (and a third, but I can't remember the name).

We are so relieved, and I feel that I can relax a bit now and try and enjoy my pregnancy again.

Many thanks for all the kind words and encouragement.

    Really pleased for you.
With my last pregnancy I had an amnio. and I know how emotionally draining it is waiting for test results.
Hope the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly!

    Hi Guys

Hope that yoyu are all well. Antibiotics kicked in and are doing brilliant job with impetigo. I had blood test Wed and GP phoned to say Iron a little low so to take iron tablets as per prescription- bit nervous as I haven't taken them before and am worried about not being able to go loo. With DD1 I couldn't go for two weeks after having her and was in such a state one day that I ended up begging for pethidine to take the pain away- luckily MW was very helpful and prescirbed lactulose etc.

izoomzoom- congratulations, hopefully you can have a less emotional time and can relax for the rest of your pregnancy.

I had terrible lower backache yesterday and was pretty sure that Baby no 3 was going to appear, however nothing yet. Not sure I will get to 29th though. Very excited now.

re the iron tablets - it depends a bit which ones you've been given. I'm on Pregaday which have been ok as far as going to the loo is concerned. If you're only mildly anaemic then there shouldn't be any need to give you anything stronger than that.

  • when pregnant with DD i had to take the spatone iron sachets that you pour into a drink,
im pretty sure they didnt affect my toilet habits (although my memory is shot to bits at the moment! lol)
if what your on doesnt agree with you, try asking your doc for something else cos there are a few options

Lucky you to be diagnosed so late in your pg with low iron levels. Mine was discovered after my first blood tests, and I am on one pregacare a day. It has most certainly firmed up my motions (sorry TMI) but I have been very watchful to not get constipated, and have noticed that just missing a tablet for a day or two, has changed things (motions) ever so slightly, and thus I have been able to keep on top of it.

I am also naughty in that I take the tablet with a glass of orange juice as they say that it lessens the absorbtion level.

Finally I have to say that you can add iron to your diet naturally this should help too. I think broccolli is one food (not my cup of tea) but perhaps someone will be along shortly to give you a list.

    Good luck

I thought it's the opposite - that orange juice aids the iron absorbtion (and things like tea or coffee lessen it)? I might be wrong though. :o

I was very pleased as my iron levels were fine when they took my bloods the other day - I hated the iron tablets when I was expecting DS (although I only had them at the end, like jenpoptab).

Ooh jenpoptab, sounds like things are going to start happening soon - how exciting! :j
