  • Just a quick blast from the past calling!

Sending good vibes to you all but especially SeptemberBaby (better hurry up!), Agutka and fac73. Best of luck ladies :)
  • Hi Sarahh112, how come they are sweeping you so early on?!? Not fair! Here we have a term plus 10 appointment if no baby by EDD and mine is next Friday. Baby and I will be monitored for an hour and be offered a sweep then and if nothing has happened within 4 days, I will be sent to hospital for a 'proper' induction!

I had a chat with the midwife and she basically told me on the quiet that they cannot refuse you a sweep if you request it. Im not sure if this is different in every health authority (we are in Portsmouth). So I had my first on Wednesday which doesnt seem to have done very much and will have another next Tuesday if the little blighter hasnt made an appearance by then. I am having difficulty walking now and going to the toilet in public is now getting difficult as I only just fit in cubicles.

It might be worth contacting your midwife and asking/begging them to do something.

  • I'm booked in to discuss a sweep next friday, the sweep would take place on saturday, which would be term plus 7, but i'm hoping and praying baby starts to get a move on long before then.
Currently bouncing on the yoga ball as i type. But it just makes me wanna go to the toilet.

  • Been to see mw this morning, said baby is head down but not yet engaged. Said that I am still big for my dates so they have referred me to see the specialist at the hospital on Mon pm. Might want to do another scan to see why baby is so big. Have been saying all along that my EDD is wrong, I work it out at least 10 days before the one they gave me!
  • Glad you're well, Agutka - I think I'd convinced myself there would be news though :p

No labour vibes this way either thanks, I might have been starting to think it could happen soon, but I've things to do so the 10th is still good for me :D

SB, here we are left until 42 before an induction as well I think, we get a 41 week appointment with the midwife I suppose for a sweep and then... waiting waiting.
  • I don't know what happened there, I missed a whole page of posts! good to see you Eels, how are you doing? It seems like ages since we were waiting to hear from you, at least it does for me as it seems like I've been pregnant forever...

I have one of those exercise ball thingys but what do they actually do???

OH blew my one up for me this morning, just because I found it in a cupboard. Haven't sat on it yet, in case they DO do something . I have had two raspberry leaf teas though - just because they may make labour easier...

Hee hee, the dog seems to like the nursery carpet. It's stupidly long pile and she's been running around on it for the past 15 minutes. Probably because I am refusing to take her for a walk. Seriously though, like I'm not cold enough indoors.

Is it evening yet?? I can't wait for hubby to get home and get... erm screwing  :rotfl: . The furniture back together I mean.

I am wearing a tiny apron round my belly, which helps me get the housework done, although moving stuff into kitchen is proving a nightmare. There is no space for anything!! Grrrr. BUT I have done my first baby wash!! Soooooo cute, although... how do you balance those little baby socks on a washing line??

What do you think of these fetal dopplers I've heard of?
Has any of you got one?
    Would you recommend one?

    Thanks

Just to update on when I last posted about this and we couldn't find the heartbeat. Had another go today , I spent ages moving the probe slowly over my daughter's belly and couldn't find the baby's heartbeat , only hers. Then she took it off me and put it on herself and found it straight away! Was a fluke though as when she tried later it took her a while to find it.

I'd recommend them as it was fantastic hearing my grandchild's heart beating

  • This thread seems awfully quiet at the moment. Or have I got too much time on my hands?

My OH likes sitting on the gym ball and doesn't understand why I'm slightly scared of it. Oh well. And I keep forgetting to drink raspberry leaf tea because it doesn't taste very nice... I like normal proper tea, with milk in it and biscuits on the side :(

Agutka you must be relieved to have the nursery done - we don't have one and god only knows when we will. There is a nice sized room for it... currently full of records  ask me in Spring if it's still the same :o

Baby socks! Aren't they the cutest thing in the entire world? Actually if there's one thing I am on top of, it's clothes - (almost) everything is washed, dried, and IRONED. I never iron. And probably never will again. But I thought the baby should look nice for all those 'first' pictures. So everyone will think I'm an organised person  the truth can be hidden under wrinkles from then on...

Sheel, that's the scary part about using a doppler at home - we have one on hire and I refuse to use it on my own as I know I'll panic if I can't find a heartbeat, but OH seems expert at it. Lovely to hear :)

Feeling weird and horrible tonight. I'm not impatient about things yet obviously but I sort of wish I knew WHEN it was going to happen. I do not like not having control. I like making decisions. And organising my own schedule. Yet I am at the whim of this little person who hasn't even been born yet! Hmmm. It's been that way since conception hasn't it, I should be used to it I suppose. Or get used to it quickly...
  • I thought the forum was quiet at the mo too. Although i have become slightly obsessed with it and log on numerous times a day.

Hope everyone is well. It would be lovely to have more posts by people who aren't ready to pop yet - don't be scared!
