only one more week till I give up work....word to the wise to anyone out there considering when to book for maternity leave ..dont work up to 38 wks like me, not only am I always knackered (and I do a desk job) but I have to keep taking days off for baby related appointments which gets me behind at work and means extra hours needed to compensate!! lol

  • Good morning ladies,

Just to let you all know that I am feeling alot better today, managed to catch up on my sleep a bit yesterday and got an email saying that I had won a competition too for a book called the chocolate lovers' club - made me laugh considering what had happened and how I wanted to eat my own body weight in chocolate at the time! :D

Many thanks to all those who left very kind words, today I will be trying to rest up (like yesterday) but DH knows that will be very difficult for me (one who is constantly on the move!).

As I said yesterday, I am not giving up TTC and am not that down about it - just a bit tired. This whole thing happened for a reason and hopefully will not happen to me again.

Lots of labour vibes to all the ladies due around now. Have a good day all.

tsstss7 - I know exactly how you feel - I was planning to work to 38 weeks as well, but have had to bring it forward as I have SPD and am finding it increasingly hard to copy with work as I'm in pain quite a lot. So I went to HR and told them that I was leaving on 10th October (when I will be 34 weeks), and it is the most wonderful thing to think that I only have 2 weeks left to work. HR were wonderful about it, really accomodating, even though I technically haven't given enough notice to start ML (I think you are supposed to give 28 days), and said that it would be no problem. Have day off today, and it has really reinforced the decision to stop early.

  • Thanks for letting us know how you are, Boobylou. It's great to hear you sound so positive - that's a great attitude to have. Hope DH delivers on the chocolate!

  • Hi all,

Probably a silly question and just me overreacting but... you know how people recommend having sex if you are near or over your due date to maybe bring on contractions? Can it also bring baby early? Just wondering if there is like a 'cut-off' date when they recommend not to do it after? ;)

I also watched the 'Bringing baby up' programme. Was absolutly horrified at the suggestions to leave those babies outside for 3 hours on their own in the garden! It was apparently so the mum could get her housework done and follow her normal routine. So many things would run through my mind and would not be able to get anything done! Can understand the need for a routine but why so strict? Why have children if you are not willing to change your life?

Gonna leave it there or will have to get my soapbox out and will end up taking over the whole forum with my ranting! ;) x

tsstss7-think you have to play it by ear mat leave wise, we are all different and even each pregnancy is different-you know when your body is telling you to stop!! So i think you are doing the right thing.
i worked up to week 37+38 with my previous 2 pregnancies, but stopped at 33weeks this time- (mind you, i think the fact that there are 2sprogs inside hasn't helped pain wise!) offically i have taken a months annual leave before it becomes mat leave, but i am def feeling the benefit of being at home.

Must confess though that the walking to school to drop kids off morning lunchtime (1 in nursery) and 3.30 is killing me!!! Mind you, i guess this is the "easy" bit, as the hard work will really start when the twins arrive, and i have 4kids to get up and out and at school for 8.50, ha ha!!!

  • Hi Ladies

I am now 18 weeks pregnant and up until the weekend was feeling fine, and had even felt what I can only assume were baby kicks :j
Since last Saturday morning I have had a dull ache in my abdoment, rather like very mild period pains. No bleeding, but a very small amount of white discharge (sorry if TMI!)
The 'pain' has come and gone, but 5 days later I am very worried that something is wrong. I think I have felt the baby moving this week.
I have my anomaly scan in a weeks time, should I worry and try and see someone before the scan to get checked out, or is this quite normal ?

    Thanks
    PP

Hi PP? Is this your first? I'm nearly 19 weeks and get some of the symptoms you described, but have been having them for a while. If I get constipated I get pains low down, and some of it is due to stretching ligaments etc I think. If you are worried do go to see someone - they will probably be able to find the heartbeat or movement to reassure you. The discharge could be something as simple as thrush as that's very common in pregnancy and could explain why you haven't had it all the time. Good luck and let us know how you get on.
Annabeth Charlotte arrived on 7th February 2008, 2.5 weeks early :D
  • Hi Pisces Princess, I See We Are Due About The Same Time.

I Have Been Having A Lot Of Discharge Recently Too. I Mentioned It To The Midwife Who Said That Discharge Increases During Pregnancy But Said That Was All It Was. I Have Rang The Doctor Today Who Said That It Sounds Like Thrush And Has Prescribed Me A Pessary - So I Will Have To See If It Clears Up.

Like Bun, When I Have Been Constipated I Have Had Pains Low Down. It Is Probably Just That Everything Is Stretching And Softening - But Definitely Worth Mentioning Next Time You See The Dr Or Midwife. I Have Varicose Veins In That Area Too Which Make It Quite Painful.

Finding This Stage Very Worrying As I Need To Decide What To Do About A 'high Risk' Downs Syndrome Blood Test - If Anyone Else Has Had This Dilemma I Would Love To Hear All About It.
    now mum of 4!!!
