Congrats everyone who has had their babies now - you lucky things.

Has anyone got any new ideas for bringing on labour as I have tried all the usual ones and have had nothing to show for it except a really bad case of integestion (curry on friday night). Have even tried the black cohosh which doesnt taste nice.

With my 1st pregnancy I tried having raspberry leaf tea tablets from about 35 weeks, and from 36 weeks I ate a pineapple a day, hot curries, long walks, lots of swimming. Had a mother-to-be massage during week 37 where they put a hot mask on baby bump and massage you all over. it was fab. Baby was born 2 days later (2 weeks early), so this time round i'm going to do it all the same !!

Still struggling on - only 3 days till due date now and I think I may have to maim the next person who phones me up to ask me if I had had the baby yet.

Surely if the little tyke had arrived I would have let my nearest and dearest know by now - especially my mother who is supposed to be looking after my 10 year old daughter while im in hospital??? Am I being uber-sensitive in my bloated, irrational state or is she being a bit dim? GRRRRRRR

Well I've been told to avoid sex, cleaning, walking, hot food and standing for long periods of time because these could bring on labour (I'm too early), so I guess you should try them!

  • congrats froofroo..... may due dates coming in already? wow! :)
  • thanks for all the answers girls,

zoomy, i know its not the BH cos i have them too.... i cant really move during one of them cos it feels like Danny is squeezing my bladder with a vice like death grip and i always think if i try and move durimng a BH i will wet myself! lol
i meant my belly can feel really hard a lot of the time, im thinking it might be mostly in the evenings though because at this very moment agutka describes it best by saying "belly is semi softish, with various lumps here and there, which shift about"

oh... and mine goes triangular when i sit up too
this really is a weird business!

I know I'm about 3 days too late but the way agutka described it is spot on for me as well... and when baby moves it's quite painful at times.. oh and yes what is this triangular business all about... it's really weird!!

I'm getting impatient already so god knows what I'll be like when I'm nearer my due date... really can't wait to meet baby! and I've a horrible feeling these next 7 weeks are going to drag and drag! :(

Congrats froofroo.. :j your secret is safe with us! ;)
    :j Ellie (Eleanor) Sophie arrived 10 days late on 19th November at 8.21am. 9lbs 1 oz :j

Many congrats to Froofroo .... I can just about remember the excitement and anticipation all those weeks ago.

Thanks for all of your replies on the massaging too .... I really thought everybody was doing it from 36 weeks onwards and I was the only one who wasn't!!!!!!!

And, yes, the triangular thing when I sit up is strange but lovely - to see the babys profile is amazing, but I try not to do it too often as I am not sure it is too good for baby or not.

I am so excited about getting to meet my baby that I could just pop!!! I keep welling up and having little chats with him because it really is not too long till he will be here. I can't wait!!!!!

Hi slapps, I had an emergency section first time round and was given the choice of an elective section or go for a trial of labour for this baby. I asked my consultant if i would be allowed to go over my due date and was told yes, also I would be induced first rather than straight into a section if I wanted to go the 'normal' route. I don't know if it differs around the country, have you seen a consultant?
