Does anyone know how long you are likely to have to stay in hospital when its your second baby ? First time round I had to stay in 3 nights, luckily had a private room for the 1st 2 nights. As this is my second baby I really want to be home asap, I hate staying in hospital. I know that if tehre are problems etc then i'll have to stay in, but assuming baby is healthy and i'm fine what do you think the minimum stay is ? Thanks
I think the hospitals try to kick you out as soon as possible these days.
I know the one that i'm going to, will let you out normally within 6 hours as long as its not dark outside (nightime).
I wanted to have a home birth, but other half was adamant i should go into hospital. So he won on that front, but i told him if i go to hospital and the pains bad, then i'm having an epidural-(which he doesn't want me to have)-who's body is it?:)Henry James Born 18/03/2011-11 days late!:)

6 hours !! That'd be great. Really don't want to have to stay in too long. I had an epidural last time although on my birth plan I didn't really want one ! I'm up for anything this time ! Fingers crossed baby will be born in the morning and i'll be home for tea !0

My cousins just had her baby and she was told also that all going well she would be out 6 hours after!! Unfortunatly it didn't quite work like that for her!!Everyone is entitled to their opinionEllie 25/12/070 -

Hi Rince!
With my second son I came out the same day. I had him at half 8 in the morning, and would have been out by three, but the paediatrician was so busy she never got round to checking him until 8 o'clock in the evening, so we were able to go home then. The nurses also checked that we were ok with feeding him.
I think we're due around the same time. How are you doing?Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -
Congratulations Machairs!!!
What a worrying time. Now you can look forward to morning sickness and backache. Woohoo!
So glad everything is ok

Just been told that my baby has a higher chance than normal of having downs syndrome. Anybody else been through this. Got to decide what to do.
just been on nhs on internet and it is scary reading.
I haven't been throught this myself, but know two people that have. They decided against the amnio and everything turned out to be fine. I don't know what to suggest. Did they tell you how high a risk? Thinking of you xxxProud to be dealing with my debts0 -
My mother will never forgive me if I go into labour early. She is studying with the OU and has an exam on October 18th so she wants me to wait until after then
Is it the baby's head engaging? MW has never mentioned much about his position other than being head down.
Aren't family great? Very helpful. Just don't tell her you've had him till the 19th!!
My MW never said anything either, but that palpating thing they do (only experienced it last week) is OUCH!! Especially when they try to feel for the head!! I thought the engaging would be a specific pain - look back on the forums, I think Emma or Sarah were complaining about it weeks ago - more like feeling the baby is falling out, rather than period like pain - which is labour!!
3KIDSNOMONEY - how worrying for you. We've had a discussion about this before and the numbers just aren't that bad. My normal chance was 1 in 600, so higher than normal would be 1 in 500, which is still very unlikely. I hope it all works out well in the end.:grouphug::wall:0 -
Congratulations machairs :j what a relief.
I am getting lots of twinges tonight, really low in my bump - not like braxton hicks. Anyone know what this is in aid of? Sometimes it is almost painful - makes me breathe in suddenly and sharply.
It sounds silly but are you sure it's not trapped wind? I get something similar and is always wind!£4000 challenge

Really confused about what to do. I am a real worrier. I just feel that i could be that 1 person. My actual numbers are 1 in 170, but as I am only just 30 that is quite high. So many different outcomes to this - so confused.
Also it is a really difficult thing to tell people about - what would be the reaction of people if i had an amnio and miscarried or got rid of a baby with problems.now mum of 4!!!0 -

I'm doing ok thanks. Had Hyperemisis at the begining until about 16 weeks and was in hospital for a few days, but once it settled down i've been fine. Just backache and feeling larger than life. How can I possibly get any bigger ! I've been looking at photos from first time round and I did get rather large ! My 1st was 2 weeks early so i'm hoping this one will be too0
