  • Agutka, my MW has just left and she asked if I had backache and I thought she was psychic or something! Anyway, turns out that my babe is lying in the back-to-back position which brings on the ache. I have been advised to spend some time on all fours :rotfl:as if she stays in this position I could be in for a longer labour!.
    x

My two sons were both born in the back-to-back position and it did cause a longer labour. I have also been advised this time to get on all fours nearer the end of pregnancy, as this one is likely to be in the same position
I'm 31 weeks at the minute and plan to spend the rest of my pregnancy on all fours if it will help. Back-to-back labour really hurts!!!!!!!!! Hope your babe turns soon.
Proud to be dealing with my debts
  • :grouphug:Miss Pink...

I had mine at 10 weeks and was told to wait at least 2 cycles (maybe because I was further along?). In the end we waited 6 months as I wasn't emotionally ready and needed time to get over it. When I became preg this time the MW told me that this is a brand new pregnancy and to try not to dwell on the m/c as I was a nervous wreck . They gave me an earlier scan at 9.5 weeks instead of 12 to put my mind at rest which really helped.

I'm so glad your OH and family are being so lovely! Take care of yourself.

    xxx
  • miss pink, I'm so sorry to hear your news :( take care of yourself and get your feet up for a bit - I think your mum is right, but I know that in real life sometimes we do better by carrying on.

A few of you have mentioned back pain, well I've got it bad, but don't think it's pg related, it's higher up and right on the ridge of a shoulder blade and it's driving me barmy. It started last week and I've put up with it until now, finally went to the doctors today after my 6th painful night and I'm left feeling rather annoyed. I have been prescribed cocodamol - a low dose, but nonetheless - I was told this can reduce the baby's movements, and if that happens, to get myself back in there immediately. As if I'm going to take it. I'd rather have been told 'nothing we can give you'... think it's an inflammation (no NSAIDs allowed!) so potentially I could just have to wait 4 weeks, ha ha ha. It's not like I can sit on my backside and do nothing, is it.
  • Sorry to hear your news Miss Pink. I had a miscarriage when I was about 7 weeks back in Sept and we then had a positive test result in Dec. So we conceived again the following month!!

Mine was a back to back labour and it was 12hrs long. Although I wasn't told at the time he was back to back.

I'll give you my labour story (a bit though!!):
Waters broke at midday on the tuesday and I finally understood what people say you know they have gone! I didn't gush everywhere (thank god!) but spend most of the day within 10 metres of the toilet as I kept trickling. It's a strange feeling cos you have absolutely no control over it! Rung the hospital and they wanted to check me over to make sure my waters had gone (maybe first pregnancy but I knew!!), which they had and they performed a sweep to encourage the little monster out and booked me into be induced the next day if labour didn't start. Then I found out the midwife was a relative of one of my OH's colleagues!! Great now at family dinners she can talk about having her fingers up my ladybits!!!

Kept having contractions into the evening and over night and at 7am phoned the hospital and went into the maternity unit at 8. The contractions had stopped again which I now know to be because of the position he was in. They told me to go for a little walk so we went for an hours hike and ended up by a bakery (think OH planned it!) so a bakery cake & sausage rolls later we are back in the maternity unit. They then decided to wait until 2pm to induce me. They used Oxytosin (sp?) drip into my hand which seemed to work but takes forever! Once they had got me onto the full dosage of the stuff baby's heartbeat dropped through the floor and the room was suddenly full of consultants & doctors. They tried to put a heart monitor thingy on his head but turns out he had too much hair and it wouldn't stick! Then they were missing a cable they needed, and the whole time I didn't have a clue what was happening as the pethidine had confused my little brain somewhat! I was saying hello to all the doctors and asking how they were!!! It wasn't until everything had calmed down I asked OH if something had happened and he said he'll tell me later as I didn't seem to realise what was happening!!

I then gave up with pethidine and had an epidural. Brillant stuff, I had a sleep for a while whilst the midwife read my take a break magazine! Only problem was the iodine had dripped down my back and I was sitting in it, which caused the skin on my bum to burn. I got a nice burn mark which looks like an iron!

Several hours later and the head is crowning and I'm beng told to push and I told the midwife I don't want a baby I'd be happy with a gold fish instead! (love gas and air, crazy stuff and legal!) Then I was paranoid when pushing cos I didn't want to poo but the midwife told me the head was blocking anything coming out, so I did as I was told. Hubby offered to hold my hand a few times but I declined as I might have broken it and then I'd have to change all the nappies!!

Once the head & shoulders were out he just flopped out and that feels strange too. The midwife popped baby straight on my chest so I was looking at his head and didn't tell me what variety bump was. Hubby then looked and just said "oh wow" as he was totally in awe of what had happened in front of him. I had to ask him a couple of times what baby was, for him to reply "its a boy, i think"!!

I only had one stitch which was put in whilst on gas and air. Gas and air is soooo good especially when you breathe it in really deeply, it went straight to my head!!

I'm still at the stage of I'm not having anymore but hubby is trying to talk me round already. We've finally decided on a middle name so he's been registered as Charlie Robert Jones, Robert after my grandad. I'd post a picture but not sure how too but even from my biased point of view I think he's a real cutie!
:heart2: Charlie born Aug 2007 :heart2: Reece born May 2009
:heart2:Toby born Apr and taken by SMA Dec 2012
    :heart2: Baby boy failed M/C @ 20 wks Oct 2013 :heart2: Sienna born Oct 2014
  • How did you guess? OH is more of a fan of the actress than the show but I don't mind. Could have been worse. Might have liked the other ones, Prudence or Piper! Don't think I would have give in so easily, although Paige isn't so bad! (I did suggest Cole but he didn't like it!:D Not sure about it myself but do like the guy who plays him!)

I just assumed that they weighed you every time as all books/mags suggest they do. I'm not moaning cos really don't want to keep being reminded how overweight I am! When I went for my first scan, the doctor who saw me kept telling me I was overweight.
  • When I became preg this time the MW told me that this is a brand new pregnancy and to try not to dwell on the m/c

sorry to hear your news Miss Pink,
ive heard its best to wait about 2 - 3 cycles if your both ready to try again, and just becuase you have had one it doesnt mean your chances are higher of it happening again,
great advice above from septembers MW,

I had an antenatal this morning, all went well :T it was actually with the midwife who delivered my daughter 7 years ago so that was nice!
and i got a great big bottle of gaviscon on prescription (thank god)

i have been weighed once this pregnancy, its not in stones though so i have no idea what it translates too, and i dont want to know! infact... i dont even know what i was pre pregnancy, i know i put on a bit of weight because i stopped smoking a few months before conception but...
i honestly could not care less about my weight at the moment, i will deal with it after i give up breastfeeding and not a second before!

congrats claire - sounds like you were off your head! :)
the gas and air didnt get me like that... lets hope its been new and improved!
  • CG I love your positive reinforcements on the weight issue. I've been weighed twice, once at booking in and then at 34 weeks. I've put loooads on but like you CG gave up smoking (yay us) so some of the early weight gain was down to that, but I don't care one bit now. OH is not bothered - and nor should he be - but that helps keep me relaxed about it. He quite likes where some of it has gone ;):o

36 weeks and no heartburn - this is probably a good thing, right? But I want the baby to have some hair!

Claire your story is great, you had me laughing with that, 'I'd be happy with a gold fish' :rotfl:

    thanks!
i just dont understand people worrying about the weight issue, its not like we can do anything about it at the moment!
im on a mostly american preggo forum and some of those girls dread thier antenatals and come home from appointments depressed and bawling thier eyes out because the doctors and midwives give them such a hard time about how much weight they have put on.... i dont see how that helps anyone!
im not even going to think about my weight until after christmas, my OH thinks im gorgeous no matter what and he LOVES some of the "bigger" parts of me at the moment! lol and if my weight is bothering anyone else enough that they have to comment on it... well they will be lucky if they only get told to p!ss off! :rotfl:

oh... and dont believe the hype about heartburn = hair!
    you do NOT want heartburn!
  • Still here, pretty emotional today because I was hoping things would get going today. I am sooo sick of being pregnant, I am dreading the school run because I think I may lamp the next person who says have you not dropped yet (and I'm not normally violent), I have ignored about 20 calls today because I just really really can't be bothered with it all anymore. Have changed my mind, and am not having a baby, am just fat with a belly that moves by itself.
They took my signature away!!!!
  • Definitely agree that we shouldn't worry about weight gain during pregnancy. Does it really matter? Even after having the baby i think that it OK to be overweight, it takes time to lose the extra weight - some of us never lose it but as long as you are healthy I don't think that it is an issue really.

I am now 16 weeks and the varicose veins on one of my legs have started to make it look a bit like a road map. Just got some very attractive support tights. Maybe i will just sit with my feet up for the next 24 weeks (if only).

Sorry to Miss Pink and her family - life can be so cruel sometimes.

SarahMoon -don't get down. At least people care enough to ring you and ask 'have you had it yet?'. i know it can be annoying but at least people care. It's my birthday today (erm 30) and apart from a few cards through the door nobody has called or anything - so feeling pretty low and uncared for (bloomin hormones).
    now mum of 4!!!
