  • Haven't been around for a while so have just trawled through several pages to catch up - you have all been busy!

Welshlassie - hoping things go your way soon! Just remember they're easier to handle while their in rather than out! (babies that is :rotfl: )

Caleo - congratulations & what a beautiful name!

Curious George - glad the scan went well - hopefully I'll get one done if I ever get pregnant! Wish I'd had them done with my other 2. Were you shocked by the result? I can remember being sure that my first was a girl until 4 weeks before the birth when I was suddenly convinced it was a boy! Scans had been inconclusive, & I was terrified at the thought of a boy (who says pregnancy makes you irrational  ) but she was a girl! Next one I knew was a boy (& he was) so really don't mind what no 3 may be (hopefully not twins...).

:hello: Hello to all the newbies too - can't believe we're into April births already!

I've been following the "interesting" discussion about cm on the previous pages (sure people at work wonder why I'm laughing so much) & have plans for Mr JKS tonight...

Sea78 - belated :grouphug: - I'm so sorry to hear your sad news. My thoughts are with you. Life will get better for you - just give yourself time.
& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin :D

Just a quick question, anyone else suffering numbness in the fingers/hand in pregnancy? Saw gp today who says is ulnar nerve entrapment, can be caused by fluid around elbow in pregnancy, has advised me to be referred to physio for hand/wrist support. Good thing is, unlike everywhere else, its not painfull, just annoying!
Yep I get it especially during the night - I think it's ok till I move my hand and then find I can't for a few minutes till I've got the fluid moving - I was told it was fluid in the wrist rather than the elbow but the same thing happens anyway in that it presses against the nerves and so causes numbness and stiffness - it's actually worse when my fingers aren't puffy...

If you get it during the day then I'd definitely go to the physio but if it's just at night then you'd probably be no better off with supports. One thing I have found though is I need to spend less time on the computer as that makes it worse.

Woohoo, another little baby boy for the thread :T - thanks for the update CG! There's definitely loads of cute boys' stuff in the shops these days... ;)

I'm such a pig - just had toast with Nutella (and raspberry leaf tea :A), now feeling absolutely bleugh... :o I'm so looking forward to having my stomach in its proper place, rather that squashed just under my boobs :rotfl:
  • Congratulations CG! :T Isn't it so lovely to know :) I'm glad you enjoyed the scan, shame about the pictures but you get another look! I'd love to go back but £££ say no :money:

Well I am just back from the antenatal class - I don't want to be overly critical but it was VERY basic, considering there are only two classes I suppose I expected it to be quite intense and cover a lot, it was quite the opposite. But that in itself has me a little more relaxed, as nothing she talked about was new to me I feel happy with the reading OH and I have done. I was looking forward to the opportunity to chat to other pregnant women but there wasn't much of one. We did a names and numbers list but what use is that if you can't remember who's who? Think I might start hassling Agutka  Also, my local hospital has a c-section rate of 27% - that sounds high? And have closed their doors many times to women in labour over the last year... I was the only one who said they wanted a home birth at the beginning, as we left there were three people asking about it - I'm not surprised!

Nice one CG. We had to go back for a second attempt at the 4D scan too. Mind you, things are a bit tight in my wife's belly anyway so the 'window of opportunity' for the 4D scan was fairly narrow with us.

The first time we went, the pics were very dodgy indeed - looked a bit freaky!

We dont know if we want to know the sex or not!

Theres the well I really want a girl so if I find out its a boy I can adjust to it, but then I think will I just be disappointed ( I know people say if its healthy your happy, I know thats true but I've wanted a girl all my life) so if I wait til the birth I'll have the baby in my arms and it wont matter.

Then If we know will we be able to keep it to ourselves? (especilly if its a boy as FIL will gloat like mad)

And then there's the whole it would ge nice to have the surprise.

I can see from some posts that some know and some dont, why are you chossing to know or not know?

CG so glad you enjoyed your scan, they are absolutely fantastic, I can't believe how long ago ours seems. It was an experience there is no way I would have missed out on, although we did um and ahh over getting it done because of the price I was money so well worth being spent.

I am up at 4am as I have been unable to settle all night and not for any particular reason. I've not had any cramps or signs to indicate that baby is going to put in an appearance, but I just can't get off to sleep soundly, which is unheard of for me usually. The cat decided at 3:45 that she was going to throw up (initially thought it was going to be on the bed next to us, but she got off before hand), this is now the 3rd time in the last week so its back off to the vets for her again (she went though this about 7 months ago, just after I got pregnant so I'm wondering if it is something related ?stress)

I'm supposed to be going to hydro later this morning, but don't feel confident driving anymore and Dad who usually takes me starts his cancer treatment this morning so isn't able to take me. I want to go because I feel so relaxed after it and think this make help "encourage" baby to arrive but am a bit scared in case my waters go in the pool and not really sure how I'm going to get there. I'll have to make a decision later, still have 6 hours before I need to!!!
  • Hi, This is my 1st post tho I have been reading the threads with interest... Im 7 weeks gone with my 2nd (But as my daughter is nearly 14 I feel like a first timer lol) anyway my appointment with my midwife is not till sept 11??? I will be about 12 weeks then and as the receptionist seemed to think this was ok I didnt like to question it... isnt this a bit far on to be having first appointment? any advise would be great:p

  • Newleafer, does your PCT have a policy to tell you or not? The decision may well be taken out of your hands! Ours do but the sonographer said she couldn't tell  hence the 4D. I'm sure all your thoughts about boy/girl will disappear as soon as you see your baby's heartbeat on the screen :D

Hope you managed to get back to sleep, Welshlassie :grouphug: That 'Sooty' should be kicking in sometime soon! ;)

Congrats and welcome, Pink Princess 1! I think its the norm to leave you until around 12 weeks. Where I live the first 12w scan and the booking in appointment with the MW are done at the same antenatal clinic on the same day which is really reassuring.
